Research
I am aiming to produce a film magazine for
the media conglomerate Bauer. Bauer already
have a magazine dedicated to films (Little
White Lies) but my magazine will set itself
apart in terms of genre by being focused on
horror films. However, there are other horror
film magazines like Fangoria which are also
aimed at a similar audience to my magazine.

3. Genre Research
The magazine I’m creating is a film magazine. As such
it will contain reviews of recently released films, news
about the film industry, interviews with actors and
directors, film lists and rankings as these are all
common staples of the film magazine genre. My
magazine will deviate from the typical film magazine
formula by being exclusively horror themed. In terms
of aesthetic elements the audience will be expecting
the magazine to convey an atmosphere of horror in
order to fit the subject matter of the magazine.

4. House Style
In order to keep a consistent house style I
will make sure I keep consistent themes and
imagery across both my website and my
magazine. I will make sure I keep a
consistent horror based theme and design a
masthead that will be used for all magazine
related pieces of media.

5. Graphic Elements
My magazine will contain a
cover page and a contents page.
The cover page will contain:
• Masthead
• Cover Lines
• Barcode in the bottom right or
left hand corner
• Since it is a horror themed
magazine it will include lots
of red as it connotes themes of
horror and danger.
• Main image which features a
film that will be covered in
the magazine
I will also have a website
for the magazine that will
contain:
• An advertisment for a
subscription service to the
magazine
• A search bar
• A display of recent news
and articles featured in the
newspapers.
