Magazine Production Evaluation
How did you attract/address your audience? From doing extensive research into my target audience, the genre and similar successful magazines I knew what was needed to attract my audience to  RADAR. As my audience are between the ages of 16 – 24yrs old and are come from either working-class or middle-class backgrounds the price of my magazine is vital to the success of my magazine. I chose to price it at £2.10 so as to not cut off potential readers and as it is a competitive price compared with rival magazines. On the front cover of my magazine I included a flasher stating that a competition where you can win festival tickets. My target audience love to go to gigs and festivals so straight away by having a flasher on the cover will make my magazine appeal to them. By having this competition it also appeals to those readers who cannot afford to go to a music festival. The colour scheme I have used suits my audience as, like them, the colours are bold and stand out. I also have used my research to include the bands/artists that appeal most to my target audience.
How did you attract/address your audience? My contents page continues the house style and colour scheme that I started on my front cover.  My target audience will be able to see the many bands and artists that love in the ‘Band Index’. I used the rules of thirds to maintain a professional look. This is important as no body will purchase a magazine if it looks messy and rushed. There is a subscription promotion at the bottom of my contents page to appeal to my target audience who either wish to save money or are planning to buy my magazine regularly. I have used sub-headings to organise my contents page and used various size fonts to make important words stand out to the reader. There is a large image in the middle column which links to a story that my target audience would be interested in.
How did you attract/address your audience? My double page spread continues the house style and colour scheme that I started on my front cover and contents page.  The image I have used directly links to the article and is in a music studio, as a large proportion of my audience are aspiring musicians this image will appeal to them. I used the rules of thirds to maintain the professional look of my magazine so far.  I have used a tag, a common media convention, in the top left corner of the first page to allow readers to easily identify the artist/band. There are two pull quotes that stand out and draw the reader in to reading the article. I have used a larger font and a different font style to achieve this. There is a stand first which is essentially a summary on the article. It teases the audience and I have used bold font to help it stand out from the rest of the double page spread. As well as the font style I have used red font on important words, such as the musicians name, band name and the journalists name.

This is important as no body will purchase a magazine if it looks messy and rushed. There is a subscription promotion at the bottom of my contents page to appeal to my target audience who either wish to save money or are planning to buy my magazine regularly. I have used sub-headings to organise my contents page and used various size fonts to make important words stand out to the reader. There is a large image in the middle column which links to a story that my target audience would be interested in.
  • 4. How did you attract/address your audience? My double page spread continues the house style and colour scheme that I started on my front cover and contents page. The image I have used directly links to the article and is in a music studio, as a large proportion of my audience are aspiring musicians this image will appeal to them. I used the rules of thirds to maintain the professional look of my magazine so far. I have used a tag, a common media convention, in the top left corner of the first page to allow readers to easily identify the artist/band. There are two pull quotes that stand out and draw the reader in to reading the article. I have used a larger font and a different font style to achieve this. There is a stand first which is essentially a summary on the article. It teases the audience and I have used bold font to help it stand out from the rest of the double page spread. As well as the font style I have used red font on important words, such as the musicians name, band name and the journalists name.
