My work
The top magazine pages are by the kerrang which is a real magazine and below that is my
magazine pages that I created. I put them side by side to compare my magazine with a
professional magazine to see how I could improve my magazine.
 The first thing I noticed was that the other magazine had lot more content than mine
meaning all the space was used up leaving barley any dead space. This was used up
by pictures as well as text and allowing the size of the text to be smaller without
leaving any dead space. This shows the reader that the magazine has a lot of content
meaning there is a lot for the reader to look through making the magazine seem
more interesting.
 My text size could be smaller to let the bigger text such as the masthead stand out
more. The professional magazine uses a range of different sizes showing they have
clearly thought about presenting the text size for effect such as the “NOW” on the
double page spread which empathises the now giving it a sense of urgency which
draws the reader’s attention to the page.
 The use of imagery in the kerrang is clear well fitted as the picture is not squashed or
stretched where as my contents page picture is slightly squashed and my double
page spread picture is quite blurry which could be solved by planning my photo
layout before I start designing my magazine.
