Language Features: 
The language on the cover of the 
magazine appeals to audience, as it 
tries to make the contents in the 
magazine interesting. It uses different 
text sizes and colours to make any 
topics stand out. It also appeals just to 
women, with topics that will interest 
them, such as fashion and celebrity 
interviews, so it appeals to its target 
audience.
Font Sizes and Colours 
 The largest font that stands out, is the most important, such as the magazine title, or the 
most important content in the magazine, that is most appealing to its target audience. 
 Different colours are used, but as a maximum of three. Using the different font colours makes 
certain texts stand out, which allows all the content to be noticeable. 
 Headings are bigger and bolder, whilst the subheadings are still using different text styles 
and colours are smaller and made to stand out less than the main title. 
 The magazine cover, only uses three main colours. This allows some variety, makes texts 
more noticeable and also more appealing to the audience. It makes certain parts of the text 
stand out.
Structure and Layout 
• Uses three different colours on the magazine cover 
• Has different text styles and font sizes and colours, which makes the magazine more 
appealing and makes certain headings/subheadings stand out more. 
• More important headings are larger, easier to see, whilst the subheadings are smaller font 
sizes. 
• The text is laid out around the person on the cover, and it uses different text styles to make 
them more noticeable and interesting. 
• The stories are laid out nearer to the bottom together 
• Bolder, more important text 
• Stories that may attract readers in short sentences that sum them up. 
•
Generic Conventions 
• Has Generic conventions, such as the date on the top of the page on the 
cover of the magazine. 
• Does not have a barcode, which is a generic convention for most 
magazines. 
• Branding – has magazine title / what it’s about. 
• Medium shot
Contents:
Language Features 
• The contents is divided into easy sections 
• The language in the contents is quite simple, 
making it easy to read and find in the 
magazine.
Font Sizes and Colours 
• The contents has subheadings, such as sections, like ‘features’ 
and ‘people’ which are bolder and in colour. 
• This is then followed by smaller text, listing what is in the 
magazine, within that particular section. 
• Not complicated; easy to read contents page in columns, has 
large font and easy to find what you are looking for in the 
categories.
Structure and Lay out 
• Its laid out in sections, to easily find what topic your looking 
for. 
• The contents includes some pictures, which adds some 
colour, but there isn’t anything too distracting 
• Contents laid out in neat columns. Contents in categories 
• Includes some pictures to make the contents page more 
interesting.
