This document outlines the objectives, contents, and learning outcomes of the ES 205 Fundamental of Electric Machine course. The objectives are to introduce students to trainers for experiments on transformers and electric machines, and to conduct experiments observing the characteristics of DC motors, asynchronous motors, and synchronous motors. The contents will cover experiments with single-phase and three-phase transformers, as well as speed and load characteristics of various motors using the YL-195 and Three Phase Transformer Trainers. Students will gain the ability to observe experiments and gain insight into the functioning of transformers, AC machines, and DC machines. Their learning will be assessed through a lab manual, final exam, and lab project viva.
