Macbeth Evil Essay
1. Macbeth Evil Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of evil in Macbeth can be both challenging and rewarding. The
complexity of Shakespeare's play requires a deep understanding of the characters, plot intricacies,
and thematic nuances. To begin with, one must delve into the psyche of Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth, exploring the transformation of their characters as they succumb to the temptations of
power and ambition.
Analyzing the concept of evil within the context of Macbeth necessitates a thorough
examination of the witches' prophecies, the portrayal of moral decay, and the consequences of
unchecked ambition. Unraveling the layers of symbolism and metaphor in the play adds another
layer of difficulty, as Shakespeare often employs intricate literary devices to convey the darker
aspects of human nature.
Moreover, an effective essay on Macbeth's evil requires a critical evaluation of the societal and
cultural influences shaping the characters. Delving into the historical context of the play,
understanding the political climate, and examining the moral standards of the time contribute to
a comprehensive analysis.
Balancing textual evidence with insightful interpretation poses its own set of challenges. The
task is to present a coherent argument supported by quotes and examples, demonstrating a
profound grasp of the material. This involves navigating the complex web of themes such as
guilt, fate, and free will, and showcasing how they interconnect to drive the characters towards
their tragic destinies.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the theme of evil in Macbeth demands intellectual rigor,
literary acumen, and a keen understanding of the socio-cultural backdrop. The process of
deciphering Shakespeare's intricate language and exploring the depths of human morality can be
arduous but is ultimately enlightening.

2. What Americanism Mean To Me
Americanism. According to the dictionary it means a characteristic feature of
English as used in the United States. To me it means a lot more than that. It means
three main things to me like freedom, all of our needs are. When I hear the word
freedom, I think about freedom of speech and the freedom of choice. In America,
we have the freedom of speech. We can say what we want to say anytime we want
to say it. The power of speech is often abused. People in America often do not realize
how lucky they are to. Another thing that I think Americanism means is freedom of
choice. From the time children are born and until they go off on their own, the parent
or guardian tries to choose what is best for the child. Children choose their own
destiny while
3. Advantages Of American Imperialism
5. Groups including the Europeans thought it would be best for the United States to
colonize because they would be inputting their fair share . Britain and America
started to fight for independent. America ended up winning. Most of the Americans
don t like the idea of them colonizing like the other nations. Especially two groups of
Americans were outspoken in their support of imperialism. Imperialism is when you
extend your countries government and military, making it bigger and more powerful.
One group thought that the USA should fulfill their spot in this world. The
Europeans highly believed that they should colonize for these reasons. The other
group was made up of business interest and opened up new markets and trade
possibilities. In 1898 a war broke out, it was called the Spanish American War. In this
war America acquired the Philippine Islands, Puerto Rico, and Guam. When the
United Statesgained Philippine it touched off the topic of imperialism. President
McKinley was able to persuade a group of Methodists about his intentions about
educating Filipinos. The Filipinos on the other hand were not happy about
transferring one trade colonizer, that being the Spanish, for another that being the
Americans. Since the Philippine s accused the USA of saying that they would be
given independence directly after the Spanish American War, the USA had to plunge
a fierce struggle. In 1902 the USA defeated the Philippines and started to active

4. Speech On Turning The Other Cheek
In this world people are faced with the most difficult decision of doing the right
thing even when it could mean being hurt again and again. Teachers, mentors,
pastors, and psychologist have studied the topic of turning the other cheek . Is it
right to offer forgiveness to a situation even if the situation is not solved properly?
The debate goes on and on but, the one thing people should realize is that even if the
situation is looking bad their is always some goodthat can come out of it. A scholar
by the name of Kent M.Keith once wrote , People really needhelp but may attack you
if you do help them.Help people anyway.Give the world the best you have and you ll
get kicked in the teeth.Give the world the best you have anyway. While analyzing this
quote further, I have found that in any bad situation there still is room for
improvement by implementing a sense of kindness and compassion for the situation
at hand.
For example, I work at a home improvement store called The Home Depot. In Home
Depot you are sure to find a good day and a bad day. Customers come to The Home
Depot looking for an item as well as good customer service. As being a cashier, my
first priority is to make sure that every customer is properly taken care of on their
way into the building and when you re leaving out the building. If the customer
doesn t feel like they re being taken care of it can get very disappointing very quickly.
While at work I try and stay as positive as I can so that each
5. Judgment In The Scarlett Letter
The Scarlett Letter is an 1850 work of fiction written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The
story is set up in the 17th century in Puritan Boston Massachusets and it mainly
focuses on the life of a woman, Hester Prynne and how she struggles to gain respect
from the community after having committed adultery. Throughout the book, themes
such as sin, isolation, and judgment are explored. Hawthorne uses the theme of
judgment to convey ideas about the strictness of the puritan society. This theme is
explored from the beginning of the book up until the end. Hawthorne uses characters
such as Dimmesdale, Pearl, and Hester to show this theme and the ways in which it
impacts their lives. The theme of Judgment is evident in the first chapter when Hester
was standing on the scaffold... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because the woman asks if there is a law for her to die we are made aware of the
fact that many people based their judgments on the law and that they didn t think
on their own at all. However, not all the community is as strict, and one of the
youngest women tries to stand up for Hester. This action supports Hawthorne s idea
of women diminishment in roughness over generations. The young woman says:
Not a stitch in that embroidered letter but she has felt it in her heart (41). This
shows how she understood that Hester was judging herself harshly enough and that
she barely cared about other s judgments towards her. Also, because this woman
was not raised in such strict manners she was not blinded by the puritan laws and
she was able to understand better Hester s condition. Apart from that, Hester is
more independent because she doesn t rely on a husband and this creates a reason
for this woman to admire and defend her. Pearl is another character who is subjected
to judgment as a result of Hester s sin. Indeed, many puritan mothers who are deep
rooted on their beliefs try to prevent their own children from playing with
6. Engineers In The Alaskan Highway Essay
A non combat role of Engineers during World War II
The Alaskan Highway began as a vision and ultimately became a reality. This
purchase proved to be one of the most legendary in history. Known for its natural
resources, scenery, and access to multiple countries the Alaskan highway paved the
way for future development and convenience in the area.
US Army Engineers and the Great Alaskan Highway
The Alaska Canadian Highway is the only road way connecting the lower 48 States
and Canada to Alaska. The roadway connects not only one but two countries to each
other. Distributors of resources and families eager for adventure travel this roadway
daily. The highway was once a restricted military route due to the reason for its
construction. The Corps of Engineers comprised of both Soldiers and civilians, took
the road from a plan to reality. The construction took place during a time of
segregation; however the U.S. Army under instructions from President Roosevelt was
to integrate the African American Battalions into the white battalions. The extreme
environment, conditions and bitter cold would make the construction project a
difficult task.
The Purchase
On March 30th 1867 the United States purchased Alaska from Russia for 7.2 million
dollars. This was a bargain considering its potential and unknown natural resources.

Both the American and Canadian Armies used the roadways to get to the bases.
The road was a restricted route for military operations until 1948. Today the road

to the lower 48 states. It is a way for people to enjoy the scenery of uncivilized land.
If you travel Alaska you will still find remnants of the units and engineers that were
once there. Most of the towns with any significant population were once the areas
that housed the Soldiers whom were stationed
7. Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
Dr. Jekyll and Mary Reilly Robert Louis Stevenson established himself as one of
the masters of adventure novels in English literature. His skills as a suspenseful
storyteller can be seen in his 1886 novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.
Hyde. Stevenson tells the story of the Dr. Jekyll and his murderous alter ego Mr.
Hyde, through the eyes of Dr. Jekyll s lawyer Mr. Utterson. Valerie Martin s Mary
Reilly tells the story of Jekyll and Hyde, but through a very different set of eyes.
Martin s version tells the same story, only through the point of view of Dr. Jekyll s
housemaid, Mary Reilly. Mary Reilly does not appear in the original Stevenson
novel, but her addition in Martin s version is pivotal to the exploration into further
details into the life of Dr. Jekyll. While, Martin s version stays true to the original
storyline of uncovering the dark instinctual part of Jekyll, it adds an emotional
aspect to the story that is excluded from the original version. Stevenson s version
tells the story of Jekyll and Hyde through nightmarish imagery. Leaving the reader in
suspense and questioning what the relationship between Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
truly is. Stevenson s primary character, Mr. Utterson is a representation of an
English gentleman. He is of upper class means and holds loyalty and reputation in
high regard. Utterson also refuses to gossip or express himself candidly. This
conservative attribute of Utterson is expressed through his dialogue with Enfieled

8. Ancient Egyptian Dental Surgery
The entire article about the Ancient Egyptian Medicine is too impressive. The way
of treatment is pretty similar to the modern days. Moreover, the range of their
medical knowledge is a lot of extended and enriched. It has covered the normal
deceases to complicated diseases.
I think the most impressive part that the Egyptian did medically is Dentistry. It is also
give the information that Ancient Egyptians were really conscious about their Dental
treatment. Because of their corrosive food habit they teeth got broken partially or
damaged quite often. Despite of good dental treatment they had lost their teeth. The
corrode teeth was prescribed as worn masticate teeth and the treatment was referred
to fill the teeth with a mixture of resin and chrysocolla which contains green copper
(*1). It sounds really impressive to me. Because in modern days, still we use mixture
of copper and Zinc to fill our corrode teeth. Moreover, they had the medicine of
making the teeth strong and removed the pain. One more impressive part of their
dental treatment is root cannel. If any toxic elements got in the underneath of the
teeth, they drilled the teeth and drained out that toxic portions. ... Show more content

Neither they had the modern surgical apparatus nor surgical Technology. Because
of that particular reason the survival rate of any operation was very low. Especially,
it was really crucial for them to do a complicated operation with the ordinary
surgical apparatus. They could have successful in the small and risk free operations.
However, one more information was really shocked me positively. Even on that
ancient age of period Egyptians knew the techniques of local anesthesia. That means
few uncomplicated operations were non painful as well on that
10. Pros And Cons Of The Automobile Industry
The automobile industry is one of the most prosperous industries in the United
States. For years, it had a big impact on the American economy. But with the
recession of 2007 2008, consumer spending decreased and new car sales plunged
(Davis, 2012). Big automobile firms like General Motors and Chrysler were on the
verge of bankruptcy (Davis, 2012). Luckily, the American government intervened to
rescue these firms through bailout money (Davis, 2012).
In 2010, the automobile industry in the United States employed more than 1.7 million
people and generated more than 8 million jobs (Menk Cooper, 2010). It is worth
noting that the United States currently houses 13 national and international auto

Consumers nowadays make an informed decision before buying a vehicle, they go

concerned about the environment, some of them tend to buy large vehicles (like
SUVs) that emit more air pollution than any other vehicles.
In conclusion, the automobile industry in the United States is a thriving industry. It
would need to move to more eco friendly options in the future to help tackle
technology and changes.

11. Kurt Vonnegut Reflection Paper
I have 3 main topics that I am going to do my best to stick too, but to emphasize my
point on how confusing this book can be in terms of its organized disorganization,
I will stray away from my plan. The three main topics that I plan to talk about you
say? Oh yes! Those...I am going to discuss the themes of warfare and fate free will
as well as my favourite, the Tralfamadorians! Before I being to discuss those, I do
want to mention a few little side notes.
My first side topic is about the all wonderful Paul Lazzaro. To me he is a psychotic
serial killer. Actually, in all fairness he probably cannot be classified as one because
he consistently decides to take revenge into his own hands, but seriously! Who comes
up with these characters? Oh! That s right...it s the all confusingly crazy Kurt
Vonnegut. Okay, now that I have gotten that out of my system, lets talk about the
writing style. Vonnegut still decides to give numerous pieces of essentially useless
information, but nonetheless he has decided to somewhat lay off on the whole time
jumping thing. Actually no. There is a correction to be made to that statement. He
does still jump between moments in the timeline of Billy s life, but the lengths of
the events are longer. This helps a lot because now it isn t as crazy fast paced as
chapters 1 4, but it is still engaging.
Now onto the important things, warfare in this novel is confusing to say the least. It
isn t that the content or the actual war part is confusing because that
12. The Trojan Horse
The Trojan Horse was the ultimate sneak attack, bringing a city that would
withstood nine years of battle to its knees. I want to find out whether there was
any real history behind that myth and in particular whether there was any real
history behind the Trojan Horse, says Edith Hall. In the epic poem, the Greeks set
out for Troy to rescue Queen Helen, whose face launched a thousand ships. After
Edith had done research in Heinrich Schliemann first archeology dig he came to the
conclusion that he was in the spot where Troy was. She believed that there were
multiple earthquakes that lead to a new tower inside Troy being built. After
reviewing the archology site he found that same tower described in the Iliad.
Though a lot of the interior was different from how the Iliad described he knew that
Homer was on the right track and was someone he could believe. Edith Hall theory
of the Trojan Wardefense coming down was the idea of a real Trojan Horse. She
goes on to explain how the wars in those times were won of trickery and deliberate
plans to win wars. Edith Hall believes that the Trojan Horse was that trickery that
won them Troy. Other Historians disagree and believe there were other ways to
break down the defenses of Troy.
Historians expose the true scale of Troy s defenses and supplies, and examine the
evidence that discounts theories of an earthquake or siege machine weakening Troy
s defenses, and the possibility that a Trojan Horse could have been used to take Troy.
13. Michigan Basketball History
Michigan basketball is in rare territory as a consistent inside presence is the missing
piece to the Wolverines postseason success puzzle.
Despite earning a 2016 NCAA Tournament bid, the Wolverines didn t do enough in
postseason play to satisfy the Michigan faithful s desire to enjoy a deep March run.
Michigan fans are well aware of the Wolverines wild success in the tournament
preceding this year s first round loss to Notre Dame. Arguably the best backcourt in
the nation in 2013, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Trey Burke led Michigan to an appearance
in the national championship game against Louisville.

It can t bring in multiple high schoolers who will be future NBA lottery picks and
send them off to the NBA after just a year in college, while still competing at college
basketball s highest level season after season.
Michigan has a few candidates to fill the void in the middle. Mark Donnal showed
flashes of promise this season, and given that he ll be a senior next season, Donnal
could help the Wolverines. Ricky Doyle, a 6 foot 9 sophomore, didn t exactly
scream breakout potential after averaging 3.8 points and two rebounds per game in
an expanded role this season.
Moritz Wagner, a freshman from Berlin, Germany, played an extremely limited
role during the Wolverines regular season. However, in Michigan s upset win over
the Indiana Hoosiers on March 11, Wagner went 2 for 2 from the free throw line
and 3 for 3 from the field, including a three. In the Wolverines First Four matchup
against Tulsa, Wagner again was perfect from the field (2 for 2), while grabbing eight
boards and blocking four shots. Wagner showed enthusiasm and fire throughout
season, even from the bench. The team first mentality is something many young
players lack, and it will serve Wagner well in the future. Expect to see a major
increase in minutes and productivity for the energetic freshman next

15. Neuromancer And The Matrix Analysis
William Gibson s Neuromancer, and The Matrix by The Wachowskis both depict a
society in which humans are under constant manipulation by indispensable machines.
In Neuromancer, the protagonist Case is indirectly manipulated by a powerful
Artificial Intelligence named Wintermute. In The Matrix, majority of the human
population lives within a computer simulated world, run by machines. However, both
storylines depict the fact that manipulation is more abundant than is often seen, as
both protagonists are more frequently under the influence of other humans.
Neuromancer and The Matrixboth demonstrate the nature of manipulation, and
explore the fact that individuals are oblivious to the manipulation that they face.
Manipulation is ubiquitous. Throughout the movie, the Matrix is presented to the
audience as the as the only source of manipulation, What is the Matrix? Control
(The Matrix). The perspective shown to the audience implies that the robots are
the only manipulative force present within this society. Morpheus introduces Neo
to the concept of the Matrix, by saying You are a slave, Neo (The Matrix) and
further explaining it as A prison for your mind (The Matrix). However, even once
Neo has been freed from the matrix, he remains susceptible. Neo is constantly being
manipulated by both the Oracle and Morpheus. The oracle is able to manipulate Neo
into saving Morpheus by telling him he was not The One . In doing so, she
prevented Neo from becoming arrogant, and careless,

17. Taking a Look at Holden Vehicles
The antiquity of Holden can be found back from 1856, as soon as James Alexander
Holden started as a saddlery business in Adelaide, South Australia. The business then
evolved over a period of years, developing from mending cars upholstery to the
complete invention of automobile body shells. The company then became the
exclusive dealer of American car manufacturer General Motors in Australia. By the
year of 1920 Holdenstarted to supply trams cars for Melbourne. On 1931, Holden
merged with the American Car manufacturer, General Motors and become General
Motors Holden s Limited (GM H). In 1936, Holden opened a new HQ and assembly
plant at Fisherman s Bend in Port Melbourne.
Holden was also considered as one of the only seven fully integrated global GM
operations that designs, builds and sells vehicles for Australia and the world (Holden,

Reason for The closure of the GM Holden.
Recently on 11 December 2013, Holden announced that it would stop production of
Holden vehicles in Australia. The decision by the auto transnational signals a massive
escalation in the assault on the living standards and social rights of the employed

Ineffective heroes are doomed from the beginning, but most importantly, are

of an ineffective hero. He suffers from the beginning of the novel, stuck living with

Ethan marries Zeena and falls in love with Mattie as a direct response to his
neediness for care and company. As well, Ethan also finds it a necessity to be
accepted by Starkfield, which compels him to live with Zeena and finally stops

been the outcome of a neglected childhood. He had been caring for his parents
from a young age, as Harmon Gow tells the narrator, Sickness and trouble: that s
what Ethan s had his plate full up with, ever since the very first helping (6). Ethan
spent most of his life caring for others and possibly lacked love from his own sick

about these fragrant, berries and mixed them with ghee, a type of fat, to preserve
them from spoiling, pressing the mixture into a ball, the berry balls were easier to
carry with them. The weary warriors marched into battle with their snack, and the
first power bar was created. Traders from Arab while doing business in Europe,
heard the news of the berries wrapped in ghee, and tried them, they agreed with those
before them. The traders returned to their homeland, excited to share the news. When
the traders shared the news with the citizens of Arab. They decided to cultivated the
plant for the first time on farmland.. They enjoyed the brew created by boiling the
beans in water, and called it qahwa or that which prevents sleep.
The Arabs had another term for qahwa, its kahwah and is one of many words they
used for wine. In the process of stripping the coffee bean s outer cherry like flesh, a
pulp is left behind. When a coffee berry bush is harvested, they let the unripe
cherries remain on the tree to ripen and be harvested at another time. A ripe coffee
berry is determined by gently squeezing the fruit. If ripe, it will be soft and give
under the pressure. Ripe coffee cherries will also be bright red and glossy in color. A
common way to harvest them, was by spreading a netting or sheet on the ground to
catch them, grabbing a branch and sliding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

22. Rational Choice Theory Versus Social Control Theory
Rational choice theory and social control theory both show why an individual may
commit a criminal act, but they both also draw criticism of their approach. Rational
choice theory critics point out that The first problem with the theory has to do with
explaining collective action. That is, if individuals simply base their actions on
calculations of personal profit, why would they ever choose to do something that will
benefit others more than themselves? (Crossman, 2015). The theory focuses only on
the individual s mindset and doesn t take into account any of their social structure.
The society an individual grows up in may make them more prone to commit crime.
Social control theory, in particular the study conducted by Travis Hirschi, also
23. Socratic Method Of Teaching And Study Philosophy
1. Explain some of the benefits a student may gain by studying philosophy.
Some of the benefits a student gains by studying philosophy is having the ability to
gain knowledge and think more clearly. You learn skills, seek wisdom and get an
understanding of our world through various branches. Helps us appreciate where the
world came from, where we came from. Using our critical thinking we evaluate
information and reach a conclusion due to the analyzation. We learn ethics, what is
real, how others see things. We gain cognitive, moral and spiritual development by
studying philosophy.
2. Explain the Socratic Method of Teaching. Is this a useful way for students to learn?
Socratic Method is a way of thinking that involves three steps, first step is you give
an initial definition, second step you find exceptions to that definition and you
present them in a form of question. Then the third step you give a better definition of
the concept. Repeat all these steps until you discover the essence of the concept.
Socratic method has its pros and cons not every student learns the same way it might
be a good method for one student or might be easier for one but not for the other.
Everyone is unique and different.
3. Explain how critical thinking can be used to analyze a philosophical issue.
Critical thinking is about making sure that you have good reasons for your beliefs.
Critical thinking is used by reasoning and examining the information given to her

29. The Odyssey And Wonder Woman
Representation of Women
In the book The Odyssey and the movie Wonder Woman there are different
portrayals and viewpoints on how women are treated and represented in their
society. In The Odyssey women are seen as either a Goddess, wife, mother, or
seductress. They are characterized as weak and dependent on men. All of the women
in the book are seen either helping or delaying Odysseus journey back home to
Ithaca. In Wonder Woman women are characterized as strong and independant. There
is an island called Themyscira that is inhabited by female warriors called amazons.
These two works have similar yet different viewpoints on women and their roles in
society.
In both The Odyssey and Wonder Woman there are Goddesses. We have Athena
,
Goddess of Wisdom and warfare in, The Odyssey, and Diana, the princess of
Themyscira, in Wonder Woman. Throughout the book Athena is a strong warrior,
but the only times she is mentioned is when she is helping Odysseus. At the
beginning of the book Athena is seen persuading the other Gods to let Odysseus
travel back home, and for the rest of the book she is helping his son, Telemachus,
and Odysseus himself. Athena goes to Odysseus house disguised as a man to help
his son take back control of the house from all of the suitors wanting to marry his
mother. Athena also helps Odysseus plot the slaughter of the suitors (Homer 315).
Without Athena s help it is likely that Odysseus would have never made it back home
safely to his wife and son. Athena
30. Dramaturgy Erving Goffman
Dramaturgy is a concept developed by Erving Goffman who uses the metaphor of a
theatrical production in order to understand social interactions in everyday life; also
known as dramaturgical theory. This metaphor demonstrates dramaturgy as a real
life play in which people are the actors/actresses. There are three logics to this
concept: the indivudial shows us what they want us to know, impression management
and particular features of face to face encounters bring order to interactions (Allan,
62). The dramaturgic analysis of Goffman presents the idea that social interaction
can be viewed as a chain of staged performances in order to understand and predict
the behavior of others and how we present ourselves while cooperating to maintain...

The self is always being monitored in order to earn the acceptance of others. In
some situations it may take more than one performance in which some aspects of
the self are repressed or emphasized, usually driven by the norms of that group. The
self then becomes an important part of dramaturgical theory for the reason that this
is how we achieve goals, present ourselves, and subsequently become an intricate
part of society. Goffman explains that it is in the interaction order where face to face
interaction is well thought out before it occurs. He further says that the self is
presented in three types of identities. The first is, social identity; what others know
about the person. Society categorizes people by attaching certain characteristics that
apply to the people of these categories. The anticipated characteristics have become
the norm and now expected demands. The second is personal identity, relations with
people you have known for a long period of time in addition to knowing unique
attributes about one s self. Closely related to this type of identity, this is how one
most often sees themselves as. Lastly there is the ego identity; this is how one
constructs an identity of themselves. It is constructed in the same manner that others
construct and identity of us. However this occurs internally to ourselves and may
become emotionally attached to it. In the process

(MLB). In the 2000s, the Yankees were a team of great individual talent, however,
their lack of team unity was noticeable. In the playoffs, when heart, guts, and team
chemistry matter greatly, the Yankees fell short and were easily eliminated each year.
It wasn t until 2009, when the Yankees acquired jokester Nick Swisher, prankster AJ
Burnett, and fun loving C.C. Sabathia that the chemistry of the team improved
drastically. Shaving cream pies to the faces of players who got the game winning hit,
and various other team pranks became the norm in the once tense Yankee clubhouse.

The Sexist Shade of Purple
If Jaws was the movie that jumpstarted Steven Spielberg s career in the film
industry, then The Color Purple was the movie that was able to distinguish Steven
from any other movie director during the time. All of Spielberg s movies prior to
1985 were generally movies of either action packed adventure or unnerving horror,
but once Steven Spielberg announced that he would be doing a movie based on Alice
Walker s book, The Color of Purple, no one knew what to expect. Jump 31 years later,
Steven Spielberg s The Color of Purple, is still seen as a film masterpiece that deals
with a grotesque yet historical insight of African Americanculture back in the early
1900 s. Through the depiction of visual art form of film, Steven Spielberg was able
to highlight certain aspects of everyday African American life back then such as the
existence of sexism, racism and the importance of familial relationships. However,
Steven Spielberg emphasizes and brings to the spotlight the aspect of sexism of the
historical African American community. With a movie full of uncomfortable and
daunting scenes, Steven Spielberg is able to underline the evil social facet of sexism
faced by African American women in their community in the past. Steven wants his
audience to know that side of African American history and wants us to view African
American women differently because of itIn the very beginning of the movie, we are

People are at the heart of every company, be it a large corporation with thousands
of employees worldwide or a small, family owned business that just opened its
doors. People pioneer ideas, solve problems, and take care of the customer. As such,
it comes as no surprise that one of the biggest challenges for every company is
finding and recruiting top talent. With a new generation entering the workforce,
employers are forced to be more creative in their recruiting methods in order to meet
the different priorities and expectations of the new generation.
Since the 2008 financial crisis, one of the biggest issues to plague the American

Additionally, there would be no cap on the amount of vacations an employee is
able to take. Typically, the only requirement is to make sure colleagues are up to
date on the employee s work and that the employee s absence will not cause issues
to the business in any way (Branson, 2014). The rationale behind this is that
employees will manage their own time well because it is in the best interest of their
careers to do so. This is different from a relatively more traditional Paid Time Off
(PTO) policy, which essentially groups vacation, sick, and personal days under the
same umbrella while establishing a cap on the overall time off (Sine, 2017). While
PTO policies do not give employees as much freedom as an unlimited vacation
policy, it still touts the same general principles and may be a better option for
companies with more nonexempt employees or who are otherwise not ready to
implement an unlimited vacation policy.
Netflix
Unlimited vacation policies have been increasingly popular over the last few years
with many companies in a variety of industries taking advantage of it. While
traditional PTO laws tended to be based upon state regulations, this new perk was

popularized by the viral deck that she wrote with Reed Hastings, the CEO of Netflix
(McCord, 2014). Companies from GE to Virgin to StitchFix have all credited this

35. How Society Uses Today s Everyday Lives That Often Go...
There are many objects that society uses today in their everyday lives that often go
unnoticed and unappreciated. One of those many objects would be the hairbrush.
Everyone uses a hairbrush; people have them in their homes, somewhere hidden in
their car, or even at the bottom of their purses. Numerous people, mostly women, own
multiple hairbrushes without realizing it. Consequently, no one knows how
important this object is, yet it being so frequently used. The common hairbrush,
although taken for granted, is a household item that dates back to 1898, which
consists of a variety to choose from, and can deflect self confidence if not used.
Lyda A. Newman was born in Ohio in 1898. This woman is significant because she is
the inventor of the hairbrush (Inventor of an Improved Hairbrush). Newman was also
an African American inventor and a women s rights activist. Newman fought for
women s right to vote, working with well known women s suffrage activists (Lyda
Newman Biography). Newman s motive for the inventionof the hairbrush was
designed to promote ventilation for hairand provide storage for excess hair and
impurities, as well as controlling hair with an afro like texture (Inventor of an
Improved Hairbrush). The hairbrush Newman invented had elastic wire teeth along
with natural bristles, an alternative to using animal hair bristles. (Lyda Newman

make. In 1898, Newman applied for a United

Lean operations emphasizes the understanding of the customer by producing units
only as they are needed. As individual units are manufactured this reduces inventory
drastically. This also would reduce any waste of products created and not sold. Both
of these processes would have been a benefit to my company as there were several
units of certain brands that were not desirable or meeting customer needs. This
caused a loss of revenue by having units that were produced but not sold. The lean
operations and Just In Time methods would eliminate this problem from the
manufacturing side of my company.
Work Cells Vs. Traditional Straight Line Method:
By utilizing work cells in my manufacturing facility I would have been able to
reduce travel distance in production due to the fact that all equipment in work cells
is modular. This allows the work cells to be easily arranged or moved as needed.
The implementation of work cells versus straight line manufacturing would have
been beneficial also because it provides an organized workplace and reduced space
for inventory or production materials. Also by using the work cell method of
production defects would be easily detected early, this is because with work cells
products are tested at the end of each production cycle making it easier to detect and
fix any defects that may arise.

39. Teenage Curfew For Teenagers
Many states are require a curfew for teenagers on weekdays and weekends. Many
students will say that having a curfew should be required because teenagers are
walking the street and could get kidnapped, teenagers would be at a higher risk of
having an accident behind the wheel while driving, and it gives teenagers the
privilege to learn responsibilities. There are many reasons why teenagers should have
a curfew.
There is many nights you will see kids or teens walking the streets at night. Would
you let your child walk around at night? Teens shouldn t be out late at night due to
safety. Having your teen rome the streets at night could put them at a risk of
danger. At any time during the night they could be taken by a stranger. There are
enough crazy people out there that wouldn t mind taking your child from you.
Someone could easily pick the kid up off the street without anyone knowing. Your
child without any parental supervision walking the streets is a great opportunity
for anyone to snatch them up. Allowing your child to walk the streets at night
could possibly put them at risk of getting hit by a vehicle too. Drivers at night don t
always see what is ahead of them. Just simply walking down the road could be the
last time you saw your kid. Do us all a favor and get your child in by curfew.
Most teens these days are wild and out of hand. They go out partying, do drugs,
and go to places they really shouldn t be. Teens will lie to their own parents about
what they are doing or where they are just to continue. By sixteen most of them get
their license. Being an inexperienced driver driving at night isn t the best idea.
Many teen drivers always have a passenger with them, probably another teen,
during any situation. So driving at night could have quite a bit of distractions
especially considering more than half of teens use their phones while driving.
Driving at night comes with a few responsibilities too. Some people walk at night,
wild animals are out at night, you always have to watch for other cars, and their is a
high risk you could fall asleep behind the wheel. Because teens don t get enough
sleep, many have sleep deprivation. Not getting enough sleep is a chance of someone

In paragraph 90 of the Annual Policy, ibid, it was stated that one view is that lending
to
any infrastructure project should be made eligible for priority sector lending while
making subtargets fungible within the overall target. There is another view that
enlargement of areas has resulted in loss of focus. It is also held that credit growth in
housing, venture capital and infrastructure has been strong while it has been sluggish
in agriculture and small industries. Further, it is argued that only sectors that impact
large population, weaker sections and are employment intensive such as agriculture,
tiny and small industry should be eligible for priority sector. Since there are several
issues that need to be considered in this regard, it is appropriate that these are
debated and examined in depth .

42. Importance of Early Childhood Education Essay
Importance of Early Childhood Education
Early childhood education is for children from the ages three to eight years old. In
this field there are four learning goals that early programs have for a young child.
The four learning goals are: knowledge (consists of facts, concepts, ideas, and
vocabulary), skills ( small units of action that occur in short period of time),
disposition ( respond to certain situations), and feelings ( emotional states) ( Katz
2003). With an successful care giving and early education, it can bring an positive
outcome to a child s life. What a child learns in their early years are things that will

Not only does early education bring the benefit of interaction, it also lets the child
feel loved and have trust in others. If a child is encountered with early programs then
they are able to meet the needs of their child stage life. If these needs are not properly
met, then they may become less successful in their performance in an educational
environment.
Learning Opportunities
There are many types of learning opportunities that can encourage a child to learn
and help to enhance their abilities. Child care centers are a great way to encourage
a child to learn, and to be ready for the school atmosphere. The Big Top Child Care
Center in Laurel, Maryland have an excellent program for children between two to
nine years of age. They have an environment where teachers are well trained and are
first aid and CPR certified. They enhance a child s learning by providing them with
nutrition, educational field trips, and special events. Elementary schools are the
opening door for early childhood education. Children can begin their learning
experience in pre kindergarten and kindergarten which are the first grades of
elementary education. Ring Factory Elementary located at Harford county in
Maryland is a school that has three kindergarten classes that teach five to six year
olds the beginning of their educational life. Not only are there child care centers and

Life of Imitation Father of Artificial Intelligence, inventor, Enigma breaker, war
hero. The life of mathematician Alan Turing is one of extreme feats and tragedy.
Even from a young age, Turing was misunderstood and unappreciated, and this
became a common theme all the way to his death at the young age of 41. Alan
Turing envisions a digital world centuries ahead of his time. Everything he did still
has a major impact on our modern day world. Yet his impact is still unrecognized.
Alan Mathison Turing was born on June 23, 1912 in Maida Vale, London. Even
from a young age Turing showed signs of a genius, so his parents father Julius
Mathison Turing (1873 1947) and mother Ethel Sara Stoney (1881 1976) enrolled
him to St. Michael s Starting School at the age of six. His teachers noticed his
intellect early on, but didn t necessarily appreciate it. At the age of 13 he attended an
independent school in Sherborne, Dorset. Unfortunately the first day of term started
during the 1926 General Strike in Britain coal miners and laborers strike causing...

There he earned his honors in Mathematics. In 1935 he was elected a fellow of the
college by proving the Central Limit Theorem. In 1936, Turing reformulated Kurt
Gödel s results on the limits of proof and computation. He replaced Gödel s
complex formulations with simple hypothetical devices known to be as Turing
Machines. This was all published in his paper called: On Computable Numbers, with
an Application to the Entscheidungsproblem (1936). Turing proved that a theoretical
universal machine, later to be known as the Universal Turing Machine , would be
capable of performing any mathematical computation if it were given an algorithm.
To this day, Turing machines are a central subject of study. September of 1936, Turing
attended Princeton University where he studied cryptology. 1939 Alan Turing
received his PhD from Princeton, and returned to
46. The Trojan Women Essay
The Trojan Women by Euripides describes the aftermath of the Trojan War and
follows the fates of Hecuba, Andromache, Kassandra and the other women of Troy
after the Greeks destroyed the city. Following their surprise attack on Troy and
victory of the war, the Greek army has returned to capture the women as slaves and
servants for their masters back home. The Trojan Women emphasizes the reactions
and feelings of all the women who have watched helplessly as their husbands and
sons have lost their lives in battle. It portrays both the mental and emotional distress
of the women as they say goodbye to the ruins that they once called home and await
their new life where they must serve at the will of a Greek master. Although there
are many themes in the play, the central one is the horror of war. Through Euripides
portrayal of the characters the audience can see the impact of grief and suffering on
the victims and their mental states. Kassandra, daughter of Hecuba, is believed to be
mad or insane but maybe shouldn t be blamed so sharply. This mental state could be
the result of the emotional anguish she has just... Show more content on

Unlike Hecuba she not only grieves for her loved ones but also recognizes some
good things. She mentions the fact that Hector s bravery will never be forgotten.
She emphasizes that the Trojan soldiers have died on native soil and their loved
ones will bury their corpses. I turn to the Trojans. First, their greatest claim to
glory: they gave their lives for their country. Those who fell in battle were carried
to their homes by their family. They were covered by the embrace of their native
land and decorously laid out in death by those whose duty it is to bury them. (Page

call Kassandra mad, this is again her way of coping with her distress. This shows
how badly war has weakened the mind and heart of

The...
In Shakespeare s Macbeth and William Golding s Lord of the Flies both Lady
Macbeth s and Simon s worth are greatly misunderstood. Simon s misunderstood
worth allows him to witnesses the loss of control of the others, resulting in his
realization of the darkness within humanity. Lady Macbeth s misunderstood worth
crafts her strive for power, consequently blinding her of her evil, creating her insanity.
Lady MacBeths influence is continually overshadowed by her husband s unchecked
ambition for power. Lady MacBeth is perceived as the root of all evil. While
persuading MacBeth to kill King Duncanshe tells him to hide your hand, your
tongue look like th innocent flour, but be the serpent under t (1.5.64 65) Macbeth
has been seen as a man of great worth due to his sacrifices in the war, due to this he
is given many epithets for the power many believe he has. Truly the power and
strength he has is derived from Lady Macbeth, she plants his thoughts by telling
him exactly how to act in order to be perceived positively by society. Doing so, she
allows herself to grow from her husband s power, power she wants to retain for
herself.. Similarly, in Lordof the Flies Simon is looked down upon by the rest of the
boys for his quiet nature. No one can understand his true importance in the quest for
salvation. The boys describe him as a queer, he s funny. What kind of boy is Simon?
. Simon has become the weakest member of the group for his inability to be eccentric.

48. Thermo-Chemical Storage Systems Essay
Thermochemical heat storage can be physical (sorptive) or chemical based on the
material used. The storage system which does not involve the production of new
compound is called sorptive storage while those which involve formation of new
compound are called chemical storage. The successful thermochemical storage
system is sorptive storage system that works on utilizing the heatof reaction enthalpy.
Thermochemical storage has considerable benefits when compared to sensible and
the latent heat thermal energystorage systems since it is easily controllable which
prevents the heat loss. The features of sorptive heat storage technology enables the
implementation on a large scale.
Firstly, charging process of the thermochemical storage method... Show more content

The features like increased storage capacity, decreased heat loss to the environment
and flexibility of heat storage over a wide range of temperatures makes the
thermochemical storage system superior to other storage systems.
The sorptive technology involves the absorption or adsorption of molecules through
a reaction thereby storing heat. This kind of sorption system results in the formation
of physical bond between the reaction pair, adsorbent (A) and adsorptive (B), which
has a preferably high energy turnover. The preferred reaction is mostly reversible in
order to perform many charge and discharge cycles.
A + B ↔ AB + heat (see Figure 2) Figure 2: Schematic diagram of sorptive thermal
energy storage technology
When charging the compound, heat is applied to substance AB which dissociate into
separate A and B molecule/compound. The storage is facilitated by using certain
inhibitors that control the reverse reaction. To release heat, the A and B components
are reacted by removal of inhibitors, ultimately favoring the reaction, resulting in the
formation of compound AB and releasing heat. During this cyclic process, when the
reaction between A and B is prevented, the heat which can be stored due to chemical
energy cannot be released. The adsorbent such as zeolite (see Figure 3) react with
water thereby act as a sorptive storage material where adsorption of water
49. History of Community Colleges in the United States
Community colleges in the United States develop rapidly and have become a vital
component of the postsecondary education delivery system. As of 2011 2012 school
year, 45% of all undergraduate students were enrolled in public two year colleges,
approximately 8.3 million students (Knapp et al., 2012. Cited by AACC Fast Facts).
And it seems that with globalization and Obama s education agenda, the trend of
growing enrollment in community colleges won t change. A high school graduate
who decides to pursue postsecondary education may face with a dilemma whether
enroll in a community collegeor a traditional four year college. Even within a
community college, a student may be faced with a choice enroll in a vocational
program and enter workforce after graduation with a vocational certification, or
choose an academic program with an intention of transferring to four year institutions.
This paper will first give a brief introduction on community college in the United
States its past and present. Then it will examine four main purposes for students
attending a community college today. In the next part, an economic comparison
between community college and four year university will be given with a focus on
two specific programs. At last, implication and conclusion will be presented.
The past and present of community college
The two year college has been a distinctively American creation, and nowhere else has
it attained such prominence (Brint Karabel, 1989). Once commonly called

Formal Essay Three
Formal Essay Final Draft Due Date: Sunday, December 24th to holguin2@illinois.edu
by midnight Directions: You have already read Mark D. White and Robert Arp s
short essay Should Batman
Kill the Joker? and now you need to write an argument that fully responds to the
question on page

So is Batman morally and ethically right to let the Joker live? Or should he kill the
Joker at the first opportunity? Why do you think so?

For example, refer to students in a boat thought experiment discussed in class. Be
ready to confront a naysayer who disagrees with your school of ethics. Make sure to
avoid a false analogy and use concrete (and imaginative) terms for your make believe
world.
5. Understand how to connect your argument for Batman s school of ethics to a
larger so what? factor beyond The Dark Knight. Consider how your ideas on
Batman s ethics relate to your own personal ethics. For example: While I have
argued that Batman s Kantian point of view would not allow him to kill the Joker, I
have realised that I m also supporting my own personal belief system.
It s interesting that my personal opinion on right and wrong can actually turn into a
fully formed idea if I support it with evidence and fully examine it from different
angles.

52. Jazz Culture
The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between jazz music and
American culture. In order to understand how it is related to American society, it s
important to understand the origins of Jazz. With its many different subgenres, it is
difficult to define exactly what Jazz is. This paper will be exploring the origins of Jazz
, its development over time, and its role in civil rights movement and black
community.
The Origins of Jazz:
Considered by many to be the only original American art form, Jazz is a style of music
developed in the late 19th and early 20th century in New Orleans. Combining
ragtime and blues, early Jazz artists like Louis Armstrong became the forerunners of
what would become known as Jazz. Jazz has some characteristics ... Show more

Some of the earliest places to integrate were Jazz clubs, however, it wasn t until
people like Norman Granz a white impresario began to actively fight the hypocrisy
of venues hosting black bands but not serving black patrons that real integration of
venues began. Like all music, Jazz is a form of expression. All Jazz musicians
have played the same standards along with their own music, yet, each version is so
different from another. The freedom of expression in Jazz, and the culture of the
Jazz community gave African Americans a chance to make it into the spotlight.
Calling attention to social issues, responding to events, organizing community
events, and most of all, uniting people of all colors in a way that no other art form
quite could. Some people believe that the adaptation of Jazz by white corrupted the
genre, however, when the effects of the mixing whites and blacks in Jazz are looked
at in context of the civil rights movement and the fight for equality, it becomes clear
that Jazz was just as instrumental to the success of the movement as speeches and
protests were. Jazz has a special place in American identity. That place will continue
to change as time goes on, but it is clear that the development of Jazz and the culture
surrounding the genre were critical to the development of the
53. Auschwitz Research Paper
An estimated 18,680,000 people died in the Holocaust and in this paper I am
going to focus on the largest concentration camp that helped make that number so
tragically large. Auschwitz is a complex camp that was used during the Holocaust
to work and kill many people. There was a very complex system that went into
making this camp. The background of the camp is interesting. The sign above the
main entrance doesn t really make sense. It reads, ARBEIT MACHT FREI, which
meant, WORK MAKES ONE FREE. If you can tell it doesn t make sense because
the work that they did in that camp didn t free anyone. It actually did the opposite.
They worked all the prisoners to death or very close. The location of Auschwitz is
located near Cracow, Poland. It... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in total the camp killed about one million people and nine out of ten were Jews.
The mass graves were a method of storing bodies that weren t burned in the
crematorium. Scattered throughout the camp in all three sector of Auschwitz
were huge pits used as mass graves for thousands of stacked bodies, individual
common graves, and large pyres. Typically, the mass graves held about 107,000
corpses and were used extensively after the Nazis discovered the inefficiency of
burying the bodies individually. Even in death, the prisoners lost their identity, as
they simply became part of a stack containing thousands of bodies. The barraks of
the camp held about 500 inmates in one small building. There were only 36 bunk
beds in each building and there were five or six people on a wooden plank. The
inmates were always hungry and the only food they got was some watery soup
made with rotten vegetables and meat, a few ounces of bread, a bit of butter, tea, or a
bitter drink resembling
54. Coal Mining Is Destroying The Economy
From 2011 to 2014, five thousand eight hundred coal mining jobs have been
stopped for a period of time or closed for good. Coal is a black or dark brown
combustible mineral substance consisting of carbonized vegetable matter, used as
fuel for energy. That energy is for heating something or creating electricity. Coal
is a
very important resource; it provides billions of people with heat for their homes,
electricity for lights, great paying jobs, and many other things.
The fall of coal is not only killing jobs, it is also killing the economy. Coal is losing
the market. Coal is the number one source of the energy needed for the world. Since
2012, fifty eight coal burning plant burners have been shut down. From 2011 to 2014
there has been five ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also kills many more jobs besides just coal mining. It kills jobs such as the steel
industry, all of the different railroad transport companies, and many other high
paying jobs. In the past few years there has been over one point three million jobs
killed by the government that consisted of coal mines. Of that one point three
million, five hundred thousand of them were in the steel industry. That means that
it will make it tougher to make cars and trucks. Everyone relies on their car or truck
for some reason, does not matter if it is for driving to work or pulling their camper.
After all you can see that the one type of company being killed and shut down comes
back around and bites you later. It is not only problem in the United States, it is also
hurting other country s. China has had to spend one hundred billion dollars for
unemployment relief. Twenty percent of the unemployment is in the coal and steel
