Lum and Abner Essay
Lum and Abner
What is the first thing you think of when you here of the 1930's, Amos and Andy or how about Lum and Abner? Lum and Abner weren't really
expected to do anything with their lives; they were just having fun trying to make something of them selves. They became two of the most famous
people from Polk and Montgomery counties: Chet Lauck– Lum, Norris Goff– Abner, and the history of Lum and Abner.
Chester Lauck was born in Alleene, Arkansas, February 2, 1902. (Alleene, Arkansas)(www.mu.net/stemple/page1.htm) His parents were W.J. and Cora
Lauck. (Cate, Micheal, 190) Chet moved to Mena in 1911, where he met Norris Goff. They became very good friends. Chet lived on Port Arthur

On July 27, 1931, they made their national radio debut on NBC radio network from Chicago. The program "Lum and Abner" aired from 1931 to
1953. The programs were fifteen to thirty minutes long. The first sponsor was the Quakers Oats Company. Other sponsors were Ford Motors Company,
Horlick's Malted Milk, Alka Seltzer (the longest lasting association), and General Motors.
Their philosophy was simply best summed up in one piece of advice: "Never put your faith in seed catalogues. That thing with the double barreled
name always turns out to be radishes." (Williams, Troy, 71)
Chet Lauck once said during the 1930s, "We're sort of like Mussolini. We've created Pine Ridge and people in it, the mayor, the justice of the peace,
the fire chief, the grocer. We're dictators by remote control. It's our town and we run it to suit ourselves." (Williams, Troy, 71)

The personalities of the people they swapped stories with, while stopped at rural stores, were to become the characters they created for their radio
programs. Grandpappy Spears was based of Cling Wilhite, from one of the

What Does Basketball Mean To You Essay
Part of the Team
Basketball has been more than just a game in my life, it has always been a big part of my life, but it has been a part differently than what it is to
others. I love everything about basketball. I have done everything from keeping the official book for a men's and women's collegiate team to washing a
high school team's practice clothes and even making sure everyone has their uniforms and shoes before leaving for an away game. You don't have to
be on the court, you don't have to be the one taking the winning shot or calling the play to be part of the team. I want you to think about this instead of
feeling sorry for yourself because you didn't make the cut. I hope by the time you finish reading this you will realize ... Show more content on

Since the first time I began managing, I have never went a school year without helping at least one team. You might think only children at a young
age are treated the same as players when it comes to being on a team, but that's not the case. I was treated with the same respect and equality
throughout my junior and senior high years. I wanted to show it continues throughout school, so I interviewed many people associated with college
athletics and the responses I received along with my personal college experience, prove managers are seen as part of the team in college as well.
When I was in high school, I was included in every aspect of team decision making. The players were some of my best friends and they would ask
me questions about their game or their stats. The coaches always told the players they were not to question what I said, when it came to game stats.
This was important because of a point system our school used. The players lost points for fouls and turnovers and gained points for positive stats or
plays. They were not to question what I said in that part of the game. The coaches and players asked my opinion on different things and they always
valued what I said. They didn't always go with my view, but it was considered equally with the players' views.
I asked athletes, coaches and a manager from the University of Arkansas to tell me how they feel about managers. The first question I asked everyone
was, "Do you consider managers

My Life Of Sports
Sports are a substainsal part of my life. As a person, I am very competitive and I love watching sports almost as much as I love playing them. My
two main athletic passions are softball and baton twirling. I've been playing softball since I was four, and nothing has been able to tear me from the
field ever since. I love the fast pace of the game, every at–bat is exhilarating, and I always am hoping the ball will come to me on defense. I have met
many of my best friends through softball, and I love the opportunity to be able to work and play a team sport with amazing people and friends. Along
with softball, I also enjoy basketball and football. My basketball career was brief (due to my shortness), but I follow the NBA and I'm a Warriors and
Celtics fan. I have always kind of wished I could play football, but I enjoy watching the Packers and Broncos, and follow college football–go Hawks!
My life is immesly influenced by sports, and I can credit sports for an abundance of memories and years of fun.
My other, more uncommon sport I compete in is baton twirling. Twirling is a rare and complex sport that not many compete in, and for that reason, I
am known to some as "that twirler girl". Baton is like smashing different types of dance, gymnastics, and aerobics into one, then adding one or a few,
silver sticks. It's an incredibly physically–demanding activity that requires a great deal of practice, perseverance, and patience. I started twirling at age
three, so this is is

National Collegiate Athletic Association: Ethical Dilemmas
In 1906, the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) was developed to help keep universities and players compliant with the rules and ethical
responsibilities to all stakeholders. It focuses on promoting leadership and academic excellence. A high level of integrity and sportsman–like conduct
are included in their core values. They lend a supporting role to the athletes while simultaneously offering students and staff the opportunity to work
with others from diverse backgrounds. The NCAA is supposed to be providing a collegiate model of what the students should be able to accomplish
with their future careers, academics and social experiences.

How can student athletes, coaches, and university administrators demonstrate a proactive response to ethics and compliance?
Probably the biggest key is to be a good role model. Keeping an eye on the athletes, reprimanding misconduct, and reminding the students of their
responsibilities will help to curtail some of the unwanted behavior. Perhaps an athletic ethics course needs to be developed if one is not already in

Mrs. Bissell
Famous Arkansan Report
03 May 2016
Jesse N. "Buddy" Benson
Although there are many famous arkansans Buddy Benson is not an ordinary man. Buddy Benson is the greatest OBU football coach that ever lived.
Buddy Benson was born on November 9, 1933, in Wright City, Oklahoma, to Jesse Benson and Louise Pate Benson. He was one of the nation's most
actively recruited football players after he graduated from high school at De Queen (Sevier County). He signed in 1952 with University of Oklahoma
under Coach Bud Wilkinson, whose Sooners team had won the national championship in 1950 (and which, between 1953 and 1957, won forty–seven
consecutive games). Benson missed his adopted home state, however, and transferred after one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In 1958 benson decided he could make more money for him and his family by selling automobiles. So he went to work for his father–in–law. Buddy
Benson believe in the student athlete. All his players were students first athletes second. Ouachitas chancellor Ben Elrod, was president at OBU
when Benson retired, said Benson demanded excellence from his players. It is said Buddy left behind a "legacy of integrity, loyalty, dedication to
one's work" at OBU. According to "famous pro football player" Cliff Harris Benson cared about his players and they're well being. In college
Benson play for the 1954 university of arkansas. He led the 1954 Razorbacks to the conference championship. People say that Buddy Benson
molded young boys into young men with hard work and discipline also building character in the process. One of the things he was proud of over the
years was seeing his players graduate. During Benson's rain as head coach the Tigers earned their 300th and 400th milestone victories. After Benson
retired as head coach in 1995 he served as the athletic director til 1998. In Benson's almost 4 decades he was known for his dedication and commitment

The Importance Of Victory In College Sports
Week 2 of the college football season has come and gone, and what a week it was. Several teams needed comeback efforts to achieve victory against
less formidable foes, while other programs pulled off compelling wins against stiff competition. Below is a recap of the most significant storylines
from week 2 of the 2015 college football season. Most Significant Victories – Michigan teams come up big! The Harbaugh era is officially underway.
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh captured his first victory as Wolverines head coach with a 35–7 victory over Oregon State Saturday afternoon.
Had Harbaugh dropped his initiation in Ann Arbor, Maize and Blue fans may have been seen shopping for Scarlet and Grey. Ok, that's probably a
stretch, but Harbaugh's first victory as Michigan's head coach showed Wolverine fans what they can expect as long as he's at the helm – Winning. It
could take a season or two for Harbaugh to bring Michigan back to prominence, but the fiery khaki savant has a proven track record of turning teams

5 Michigan State exacted its revenge on No. 7 Oregon after falling to the Ducks a season ago. Saturday, the Spartans held on for a 31–28 victory over
the Ducks, keeping their College Football Playoff hopes alive. The Ducks certainly aren't out of their playoff picture, but a looming matchup between
Michigan State and No. 1 Ohio State is now the most anticipated matchup of the college football season. The victory also painted a thin coat of
credibility onto the Big 10, which doesn't appear to be the strongest of conferences this

basketball. Whenever the chance arrives he is on the court shooting hoop with his friends.Even when he 's not playing he's still watching the NBA
and keeping up with how his favorite team the Spurs are doing. even though Ben loves basketball that's not his only hobby. Sometimes he likes to sit

With this new promotion he has been able to become an instructor for new employees, teaching them to become better employees. Furthermore
beyond being an instructor he is also the boss of the other lifeguards. Even with what Ben has already accomplished he still plans to pursue greater
goals. For that he wishes to get an associate of science degree. With this he hopes that he will be able to get a job at UAMS. After he accomplishes
that he only hopes that he can use this job to further help people. With that being far in the future he would just settle with getting a new vehicle.
He would prefer if this new vehicle were a jeep or a camaro but he'll settle for anything that runs. With that said he would like to sell his old car in
order to be able to pay for this vehicle. In addition to Ben my other group member is Shin. She enjoys watching football in her free time. Her
favorite NFL team is the Dallas Cowboys for whom she cheers on even when they are having a bad season. In addition to the NFL she also enjoys
watching the NCAA supporting her state's team the Arkansas Razorbacks. Shin also enjoys her job at the nursing home. Her favorite thing about
working at the nursing home is that she gets to assist elderly people in their day to day lives. With this job she is also gaining experience so that she

Quarterback Mobility And Its Impact On College Football...
The 2012 NFL season is over, and fans are left with little to do, except follow player cuts while awaiting free agency and the rookie draft. While
flipping through the latest news, I came across the following headlines: o Titans looking to add zone–read elements to offense o Quarterback mobility
takes on greater focus at Scouting Combine
The basis of these reports is that an influx of young quarterbacks has entered the NFL over the last two years with new skill sets from those of the
past. These players are QB / RB hybrids with decent but not exceptional passing skills. Teams such as Carolina, Seattle, Washington, etc have been
modifying their offense to best utilize the players skills, namely by implementing the zone read option ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
oForces defenses to play against the unfamiliar; with limited practice time, they must prepare for new keys and new techniques; the defense must
remain extremely disciplined regarding their assignments. o Forces defenders to tackle players who may or may not have the ball. o Forces defenders
to make good open field tackles on the perimeter. o Can convert a quick–reflexed, attacking defender into a spectator.
Weaknesses: o Relies heavily on training the QB to make proper 'reads'. o QB often runs inside the tackles, subjecting him to hard hits. o Fancy ball
handling can lead to turnovers. o Passing attack is usually limited. o A poor offense when playing from behind and trying to score quickly.
These strengths and weakness apply to most run option offenses, but it is important to keep in mind that a there have been a great variety of such
systems throughout football history. A brief overview of the pros and cons of specific systems is listed below.
SPLIT 'T' and WISHBONE
Strengths:
oIncludes triple or even quadruple options.
Weaknesses: o Compact formations do not spread the field horizontally. o Passing is extremely limited (the field is not spread vertically).

Strengths:
oIncludes triple option. o Improved passing potential, including tailback passes. Weaknesses: o Passing is still somewhat limited. o The QB is trained

Marcell Dareus 'Paid Athletes' Pay For Play
PAY FOR PLAY The issue of pay for play has gone back for decades not just on the collegiate level but on the professional level. Athletes, over the
years, have verbally attacked the unfairness of the NCAA or professional owners unfairly profiting of the sweat of the athletes backs. I believe paying
athletes a modest amount would lessen the temptation to break NCAA rules by taking cash from boosters, agents and anyone else willing to give it.
For example, is the case of Cam Newton's, former Auburn quarterback. Reports were released stating that former Mississippi State assistants and a
booster had contacted Newton's father, Cecil Newton, about payments for his signature with the Bulldogs. In another SEC scandal, Marcell Dareus was
ruled ineligible... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Personal Statement: A Career In Sports
Throughout the course of my twenty–two year life, roughly eighteen of those years have been wrapped firmly around sports. From a young age, I was
able to experience a vast range of sporting events. Whether I participated or just spectated, sports such as football, basketball, baseball, and golf, have
sculpted and driven my life since I was a young toddler, to now potentially having a career in the sports industry. As my knowledge and understanding
in the world of sports has grown over the years, one sport began to stand out among the rest in terms of level of enjoyment and potential career choice,
with that sport being baseball. From playing tee ball at age four, to skipping school five straight years to go watch the Texas Rangers play on Opening...

Larger discourse communities, like Jaimie's, allow the need to establish leaders and provide them with the leadership skills and knowledge to take
on any task. These leaders throughout each community are vital to team moral and to making sure each and every individual is thoroughly prepared.
Jaimie says, like most discourse communities, that the ranking system within the marketing and promotions department is based primarily on
experience and job titles. For the most part, the longer you've been working within the organization, the higher and more promoting your job title
will be. In Jaimie's case, she has only been working within the MLB community for one year, but she has established herself as "Promotions
Coordinator" because of a tremendous work ethic, as her track record has shown that she gets any job done that is thrown her way. She did say that
although I would start with the lowest title amongst the group as an intern, my suggestions and opinions toward the group will still carry weight and
substance within the group because interns are constantly finding ways to learn how the job works and flows as they observe fellow co–workers with
higher titles. Thus, this ranking class that Jaimie is a part of creates a balance of power among its individuals, where everyone knows where they stand,
but that doesn't limit the imaginative flow through the discourse

Disadvantages Of Moving To Fayetteville
If I could, I would pack my bags and move to Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Northwest Arkansas, where Fayetteville is located, is filled with all kinds of entertainment, beauty, fun, culture, and entrepreneurship. Fayetteville is the
most interesting location in Northwest Arkansas to me, because it's where the University of Arkansas is located. The University of Arkansas is where I
plan to attend college at after high school. Fayetteville is also located close to other large cities such as Bentonville, Springdale, and Rogers.
Northwest Arkansas is known for it's natural beauty, and also fun to explore. Fayetteville, Arkansas is a beautiful, lively college town that always has

The former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo said Jones was like a heroin addict, saying that Jones' heroin was money. Jones retaliated by saying "We
would make the players and teams in this league more money if we were all responsible for our own marketing. The more you grow the pie, the
more you grow the league. People say I'm a maverick and not a team player, but I believe in revenue–sharing. I just think there's more revenue to share
out there" (King 100). On August 3, 1995, Jones announced a deal with Pepsi that allowed that company to become the official supplier of soft
drinks at Texas Stadium; a stadium which Jones owns. The league disagreed because Coke was already the NFL's official soft drink sponsor. But
10 days later, New England Patriot owner Robert Kraft, who owns Foxboro Stadium, unveiled a similar deal with Pepsi; and no one seemed upset
around the league. Jones also signed Deion Sanders last year to a $35 million contract with Dallas. Around the league there was grumbling that Jones
was abusing the salary cap of the NFL. Of course the San Francisco 49ers had done the same thing for the same player a year before. Jones'
contributions and innovations in the areas of marketing, corporate sponsorships, television, stadium management, stadium development and
community service have made a visible imprint on the ever evolving face of professional sports in America.

Personal Narrative Essay : The Best Day Of My Life
It was a hot, sunny day in Oxford football season had just begun and I was headed to my first Buccaneers football practice. I was beyond excited
because I had been wanting to play tackle football for multiple years. Buc ball starts at age 7, but my parents made the decision to wait until I
turned 10 to let me play. They wanted to make sure I was ready physically. Up until this point I was playing flag football for FNC. I was just a little
kid running around grabbing flags, but I loved it. As long as I had a football in my hands I didn't care what I was doing. I felt like I was The Flash
every time I grabbed the ball and took off down the field. However, I knew I wanted more; to put on a helmet and shoulder pads and play real
football. So back to the sunny day in August... I walked up to the fence with my dad; my body shaking with excitement. I met Coach Abraham and
Coach Searn. Next, I grabbed my pads and helmet. Practice was getting ready to start, and I could already tell this was going to be the best day of
my life. I walked onto the field to get in my stretch line. Coach Searn said, "Feet together, down." Everybody clapped except me. How was I
supposed to know? This was all new to me. However, I quickly caught on and learned how to stretch like the rest of them. Practice rolled along like
normal and then it was time to put the pads to the test–hitting drills. I could finally show the coach what I could do. I would be lying if I said I was not

professional team we would want to go to and we were never on the same wavelength when it came to these teams. I would always be a Georgia

Lum And Abner Essay

  • 1. Lum and Abner Essay Lum and Abner What is the first thing you think of when you here of the 1930's, Amos and Andy or how about Lum and Abner? Lum and Abner weren't really expected to do anything with their lives; they were just having fun trying to make something of them selves. They became two of the most famous people from Polk and Montgomery counties: Chet Lauck– Lum, Norris Goff– Abner, and the history of Lum and Abner. Chester Lauck was born in Alleene, Arkansas, February 2, 1902. (Alleene, Arkansas)(www.mu.net/stemple/page1.htm) His parents were W.J. and Cora Lauck. (Cate, Micheal, 190) Chet moved to Mena in 1911, where he met Norris Goff. They became very good friends. Chet lived on Port Arthur Avenue in Mena. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On July 27, 1931, they made their national radio debut on NBC radio network from Chicago. The program "Lum and Abner" aired from 1931 to 1953. The programs were fifteen to thirty minutes long. The first sponsor was the Quakers Oats Company. Other sponsors were Ford Motors Company, Horlick's Malted Milk, Alka Seltzer (the longest lasting association), and General Motors. Their philosophy was simply best summed up in one piece of advice: "Never put your faith in seed catalogues. That thing with the double barreled name always turns out to be radishes." (Williams, Troy, 71) Chet Lauck once said during the 1930s, "We're sort of like Mussolini. We've created Pine Ridge and people in it, the mayor, the justice of the peace, the fire chief, the grocer. We're dictators by remote control. It's our town and we run it to suit ourselves." (Williams, Troy, 71) Hendricks 3 The personalities of the people they swapped stories with, while stopped at rural stores, were to become the characters they created for their radio programs. • 2. What Does Basketball Mean To You Essay Part of the Team Basketball has been more than just a game in my life, it has always been a big part of my life, but it has been a part differently than what it is to others. I love everything about basketball. I have done everything from keeping the official book for a men's and women's collegiate team to washing a high school team's practice clothes and even making sure everyone has their uniforms and shoes before leaving for an away game. You don't have to be on the court, you don't have to be the one taking the winning shot or calling the play to be part of the team. I want you to think about this instead of feeling sorry for yourself because you didn't make the cut. I hope by the time you finish reading this you will realize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the first time I began managing, I have never went a school year without helping at least one team. You might think only children at a young age are treated the same as players when it comes to being on a team, but that's not the case. I was treated with the same respect and equality throughout my junior and senior high years. I wanted to show it continues throughout school, so I interviewed many people associated with college athletics and the responses I received along with my personal college experience, prove managers are seen as part of the team in college as well. When I was in high school, I was included in every aspect of team decision making. The players were some of my best friends and they would ask me questions about their game or their stats. The coaches always told the players they were not to question what I said, when it came to game stats. This was important because of a point system our school used. The players lost points for fouls and turnovers and gained points for positive stats or plays. They were not to question what I said in that part of the game. The coaches and players asked my opinion on different things and they always valued what I said. They didn't always go with my view, but it was considered equally with the players' views. I asked athletes, coaches and a manager from the University of Arkansas to tell me how they feel about managers. The first question I asked everyone was, "Do you consider managers ... • 3. My Life Of Sports Sports are a substainsal part of my life. As a person, I am very competitive and I love watching sports almost as much as I love playing them. My two main athletic passions are softball and baton twirling. I've been playing softball since I was four, and nothing has been able to tear me from the field ever since. I love the fast pace of the game, every at–bat is exhilarating, and I always am hoping the ball will come to me on defense. I have met many of my best friends through softball, and I love the opportunity to be able to work and play a team sport with amazing people and friends. Along with softball, I also enjoy basketball and football. My basketball career was brief (due to my shortness), but I follow the NBA and I'm a Warriors and Celtics fan. I have always kind of wished I could play football, but I enjoy watching the Packers and Broncos, and follow college football–go Hawks! My life is immesly influenced by sports, and I can credit sports for an abundance of memories and years of fun. My other, more uncommon sport I compete in is baton twirling. Twirling is a rare and complex sport that not many compete in, and for that reason, I am known to some as "that twirler girl". Baton is like smashing different types of dance, gymnastics, and aerobics into one, then adding one or a few, silver sticks. It's an incredibly physically–demanding activity that requires a great deal of practice, perseverance, and patience. I started twirling at age three, so this is is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

National Collegiate Athletic Association: Ethical Dilemmas In 1906, the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) was developed to help keep universities and players compliant with the rules and ethical responsibilities to all stakeholders. It focuses on promoting leadership and academic excellence. A high level of integrity and sportsman–like conduct are included in their core values. They lend a supporting role to the athletes while simultaneously offering students and staff the opportunity to work with others from diverse backgrounds. How can student athletes, coaches, and university administrators demonstrate a proactive response to ethics and compliance? Probably the biggest key is to be a good role model. Keeping an eye on the athletes, reprimanding misconduct, and reminding the students of their responsibilities will help to curtail some of the unwanted behavior. • 6. The Importance Of Victory In College Sports Week 2 of the college football season has come and gone, and what a week it was. Several teams needed comeback efforts to achieve victory against less formidable foes, while other programs pulled off compelling wins against stiff competition. Below is a recap of the most significant storylines from week 2 of the 2015 college football season. Ok, that's probably a stretch, but Harbaugh's first victory as Michigan's head coach showed Wolverine fans what they can expect as long as he's at the helm – Winning. It could take a season or two for Harbaugh to bring Michigan back to prominence, but the fiery khaki savant has a proven track record of turning teams around.... Saturday, the Spartans held on for a 31–28 victory over the Ducks, keeping their College Football Playoff hopes alive. • 8. Quarterback Mobility And Its Impact On College Football... The 2012 NFL season is over, and fans are left with little to do, except follow player cuts while awaiting free agency and the rookie draft. While flipping through the latest news, I came across the following headlines: o Titans looking to add zone–read elements to offense o Quarterback mobility takes on greater focus at Scouting Combine The basis of these reports is that an influx of young quarterbacks has entered the NFL over the last two years with new skill sets from those of the past. These players are QB / RB hybrids with decent but not exceptional passing skills. Teams such as Carolina, Seattle, Washington, etc have been modifying their offense to best utilize the players skills, namely by implementing the zone read option ... Weaknesses: o Relies heavily on training the QB to make proper 'reads'. o QB often runs inside the tackles, subjecting him to hard hits. o Fancy ball handling can lead to turnovers. o Passing attack is usually limited. o A poor offense when playing from behind and trying to score quickly. These strengths and weakness apply to most run option offenses, but it is important to keep in mind that a there have been a great variety of such systems throughout football history. A brief overview of the pros and cons of specific systems is listed below. SPLIT 'T' and WISHBONE Strengths: oIncludes triple or even quadruple options. Weaknesses: o Compact formations do not spread the field horizontally. o Passing is extremely limited (the field is not spread vertically). Athletes, over the years, have verbally attacked the unfairness of the NCAA or professional owners unfairly profiting of the sweat of the athletes backs. I believe paying athletes a modest amount would lessen the temptation to break NCAA rules by taking cash from boosters, agents and anyone else willing to give it. For example, is the case of Cam Newton's, former Auburn quarterback. Reports were released stating that former Mississippi State assistants and a booster had contacted Newton's father, Cecil Newton, about payments for his signature with the Bulldogs. • 11. Personal Statement: A Career In Sports Throughout the course of my twenty–two year life, roughly eighteen of those years have been wrapped firmly around sports. From a young age, I was able to experience a vast range of sporting events. Whether I participated or just spectated, sports such as football, basketball, baseball, and golf, have sculpted and driven my life since I was a young toddler, to now potentially having a career in the sports industry. As my knowledge and understanding in the world of sports has grown over the years, one sport began to stand out among the rest in terms of level of enjoyment and potential career choice, with that sport being baseball. Jaimie says, like most discourse communities, that the ranking system within the marketing and promotions department is based primarily on experience and job titles. For the most part, the longer you've been working within the organization, the higher and more promoting your job title will be. In Jaimie's case, she has only been working within the MLB community for one year, but she has established herself as "Promotions Coordinator" because of a tremendous work ethic, as her track record has shown that she gets any job done that is thrown her way. She did say that although I would start with the lowest title amongst the group as an intern, my suggestions and opinions toward the group will still carry weight and substance within the group because interns are constantly finding ways to learn how the job works and flows as they observe fellow co–workers with higher titles. Thus, this ranking class that Jaimie is a part of creates a balance of power among its individuals, where everyone knows where they stand, but that doesn't limit the imaginative flow through the discourse ... Texas A & M Research Paper Texas A&M University The total average cost of attendance to attend Texas A&M for one year cost about $27,272 (for in–state residents), which includes tuition and fees, board and room, books, transportation and other types of expenses. Jones retaliated by saying "We would make the players and teams in this league more money if we were all responsible for our own marketing. The more you grow the pie, the more you grow the league. People say I'm a maverick and not a team player, but I believe in revenue–sharing. I just think there's more revenue to share out there" (King 100). On August 3, 1995, Jones announced a deal with Pepsi that allowed that company to become the official supplier of soft drinks at Texas Stadium; a stadium which Jones owns. The league disagreed because Coke was already the NFL's official soft drink sponsor. But 10 days later, New England Patriot owner Robert Kraft, who owns Foxboro Stadium, unveiled a similar deal with Pepsi; and no one seemed upset around the league. Jones also signed Deion Sanders last year to a $35 million contract with Dallas. Around the league there was grumbling that Jones was abusing the salary cap of the NFL. • 17. Personal Narrative Essay : The Best Day Of My Life It was a hot, sunny day in Oxford football season had just begun and I was headed to my first Buccaneers football practice. I was beyond excited because I had been wanting to play tackle football for multiple years. Buc ball starts at age 7, but my parents made the decision to wait until I turned 10 to let me play. They wanted to make sure I was ready physically. Up until this point I was playing flag football for FNC. I was just a little kid running around grabbing flags, but I loved it. As long as I had a football in my hands I didn't care what I was doing. I felt like I was The Flash every time I grabbed the ball and took off down the field. However, I knew I wanted more; to put on a helmet and shoulder pads and play real football. So back to the sunny day in August... I walked up to the fence with my dad; my body shaking with excitement. I met Coach Abraham and Coach Searn. Next, I grabbed my pads and helmet. Practice was getting ready to start, and I could already tell this was going to be the best day of my life. I walked onto the field to get in my stretch line. Coach Searn said, "Feet together, down." Everybody clapped except me. How was I supposed to know? This was all new to me. However, I quickly caught on and learned how to stretch like the rest of them. Practice rolled along like normal and then it was time to put the pads to the test–hitting drills. I could finally show the coach what I could do. I would be lying if I said I was not nervous at ... Dena let us stay in her house in some of her spare bedrooms and she took us on a tour of the town and showed us some of the best places in Bentonville. Seeing the places that this town had to offer made me fall in love with Arkansas and ruined possible experiences I could have at other colleges because my expectations are so high now. Dena and her boyfriend took us to an amazing restaurant that served some of the best food I have had and had amazing hush puppies. This place was the epitome of southern hospitality making it feel like they knew who you were and gave you something within seconds if you were out of it. That night they took us to a trail that they rode bikes around all the time and showed us some of the best places to go and where most of the people at Arkansas go to hang out. They also showed us around the campus and some of the more popular places there and around town. We went there during a good time because there was still some sports going on throughout the college and Arkansas was also hosting one of the college world series games. The craziest thing was that every sports bar or any place you went had that game on and you could hear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
