1) Networking Session
Venue : Zoom meeting
Time : 2 PM - 3 PM
The delegates were welcomed into the conference and were given the chance to
interact with one another in a friendly environment. As the first encounter with ICMSS
and other delegates, the Networking Session helped to familiarize, build a pleasant
atmosphere, and reduce tension for the competition in the following days.

2) Grand Opening Ceremony
Time : 6.30 PM - 8.30 PM
The series of events of The 20th ICMSS was officially opened with a classic welcoming
event for delegates. The delegates and committees had the chance of networking with
foreign and local students with the company of band and dance performances to
create a warm ambience for the evening.

1) Semi Final Round

Prior to the competition, all teams must prepare a research paper on the
recommendation to either buy, sell, or hold a selected stock. Indonesian stock picks for
this year are PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAPI), PT Mitra Keluarga Karyasehat Tbk (MIKA)
and PT Vale Indonesia Tbk PT (INCO). After a rigorous selection of more than 100
submitted papers in the qualification round, the top 24 teams finally presented their
research in front of real-world analysts.

2) Case Study Discussion
Venue : GoWork
Time : 1 PM - 3 PM
After the semi final presentation, the delegates are assigned to new teams for Case
Study. Each team must prepare and submit a paper and presentation answering the
problem "Provide an investment analysis regarding the airlines industry's business and
financial strategy going forward and its future”. This session is intended to further
strengthen the bond between delegates from different universities by working
together on a case study within limited time.

1) Case Study Presentation
Venue : National Library of Indonesia
Time : 8 AM - 12 PM

The session continued with the presentation of the case study discussed in prior day.
The selected 4 teams were given the chance to present their research in front of real
economists and the best team would win The Best Case Study Team award.

2) Financial Workshop
Time : 12 PM - 2.30 PM
Speaker:
- Mr. Tjandra Lienandjaja
Mr. Tjandra Lienandjaja from Mandiri Sekuritas conducted the workshop, in which he
explained the basic principles of banking valuation. He then backed up theories with
real-life practice with PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) as an example.
This session aimed to deepen the delegates' knowledge on best valuation practices,
straight from the expert himself.

3) Online Company Visit
Time : 3 PM - 4 PM
The delegates experienced a virtual tour around the entire building of PT Bahana TCW
Investment Management, along with their complete facilities, following the video
concept of a new hire exploring his new office workplace. Subsequently, esteemed
representatives of Bahana shared their insights of the company’s daily activities, work
divisions, and collaborations. The method was conducted in the form of a webinar,
using a talkshow concept.

The top 6 teams from presented their research in front of senior analysts to win The
Best Equity Research Team awards. The Indonesian stock picks remained PT Mitra
Adiperkasa Tbk (MAPI), PT Mitra Keluarga Karyasehat Tbk (MIKA) and PT Vale Indonesia
Tbk PT (INCO). Similar to the semi final, the delegates did a presentation followed by
Q&A by the analysts. As the finalists were faced with more experienced analysts, they
naturally expected more arduous questions and constructive commentaries.

2) Sharing Session
Time : 8 AM - 12 PM
Speakers:

- Mr. Fajar Hidayat
The topic discussed revolved around ‘Careers in Finance’, pinpointing two particular
aspects mainly the buy-side and the sell-side. The buy-side aspect spotlighted
renowned guest speaker, Mr. Fajar Hidayat, President Director of Syailendra Capital,
discussing potential paths young workers could pursue in that field. Soon after, Mr. Oki
Ramadhana, President Director of HSBC Sekuritas, emphasized matters surrounding
the sell-side, where he described the risks and rewards, together with the opportunities
it holds. As a whole, both sides contained prominent characters from their respective
fields displaying an inspirational presentation brimming with the endless possibilities
exposed to the future capital market practicioner.

3) Cultural Night
Venue : Makara Art Center, Universitas Indonesia
Time : 6.30 PM - 9 PM
Remarks :
- Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy
- Anies Rasyid Baswedan, Governor of Jakarta
Cultural Night is an event culminating the beauty and diversity of Indonesian culture as
well as the cultures of the international delegates. Mr. Uno and Mr. Baswedan
welcomed the delegates to the event and proceeded with an opening speech on our
role as a student and citizen. The Cultural Night, in collaboration with Kemenparekraf,
provided performances that capture the beauty of Indonesia’s heritage. This event
marks the end of the competition in the past three days.

The past year has been an unprecedented period in human history caused by the

improvements in the near future, the capital market has shown an early recovery,
creating a dissonance between it and the macroeconomic conditions of the country.
This session discussed the economic and financial outlook in Indonesia and answers
what currently drives the market.

As the capital market of Indonesia dipped, massive swathes of rookie investors jumped
into the market, hoping to ride a rebound. As per December 2020, retail investors
dominated stock trading in Indonesia, accounting for 52% of total trading value,
indicating a massive growth in retail participation. Even though equity funds are
heavily stressed upon, other investment products could potentially provide ample gains
and accommodate resiliency for investors. In the fourth session discussed how
prospective beginner investors can sift through the current volatile market conditions
in search for profitable returns.

has drastically put forth the view on ESG investing. As the world grapples with
repercussions of climate change, environmental destruction, and social issues, this
session will delve into the concept of sustainable investing and its importance in the
post-pandemic era.

3) Session 6 "The Future of Sharia Banking and Sharia Capital Market in Indonesia"

Indonesia currently has the fourth largest sharia economy. Steady development of the
sharia economy amidst the COVID-19 pandemic shows a promising future for Islamic
Banks. Consequently, the merger of the three largest islamic banks in Indonesia
indicates a shift of growth into sharia-compliant public companies in the capital
market. This session discussed and delve deeper into the future of sharia banking and
sharia capital market in Indonesia.

4) Grand Closing Ceremony
Time : 7 PM - 9 PM
The committees prepared an awarding night to close the series of event of The 20th
ICMSS. The winners of Equity Research Conference were also announced: one team
from National University of Singapore was awarded the 1st place, second team from
Prasetiya Mulya was awarded the 2nd place, and last the third team from Universitas
Multimedia Nusantara was awarded the 3rd place.

1) Beginner and Intermediate Session

Hadiansyah, CFTe, Technical Analyst at PT Mandiri Sekuritas
The first session was intended for beginner investors with little knowledge about
investing. Mr. Norman from Mandiri Sekuritas Online Trading (MOST) introduced the
principles of investing in the capital market industry. He explained all about basic
knowledge in capital market and also he introduced the basic explanation about
fundamental and technical analysis.
The second session was provided for investors with some basic knowledge of investing.
Mr. Hadiansyah, give a deeper knowledge about analysis: fundamental and technical.
He elaborated the qualitative and quantitative approaches to fundamental analysis and
explained the framework of technical analysis. Also, he give a brief explanation about
stock valuation.
