10. The roots must go deep, or the life planted in us will shrivel under the heat of persecution.

12. The cares of life, the pursuit of wealth and the desire for other things can choke the Word planted in us… He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

13. Are we preoccupied with other things? Are we too afraid to trust God? Are we afraid of the opinions of others? Are we chasing after things that don’t matter? Are we following other spirits?
