It discusses avoiding evil influences, allowing God to reshape one's heart, and growing Christian virtues like faith, goodness, knowledge, and love. The key point is that holiness is a continuous journey that requires daily growth in becoming more like God, not a finish line. One must constantly pursue maturity and draw closer to God.
The 70-day challenge for those participating in the "Heart of the Matter" series is over, but we hope the transformation of our hearts continues as we make these new practices part of our daily life.
David discipleship-Laying the foundation pt 2Jim Tompkins
Virtue is the character of Christ internalized through obedience to Him. It grows through a relationship with Christ and leads to humility and dependence rather than pride. True discipleship focuses on gaining virtue through submitting to Christ's direction daily. It involves focusing on one's desire, dependents, and development. God delights in unfailing love, justice, and righteousness. Laying this foundation involves focusing prayer, faith, and salvation on developing steadfast love for one's heart; intercession, the sword, and injustice on justice for one's house and dependents; and paths of God, armor, and warfare on righteousness for one's hope and development.
This document discusses how through faith in Jesus Christ, we can have peace with God. It explains that justification through faith removes our guilt and allows for peace. This document provides information about the Want2geton Christian career coaching service and includes bible verses to give strength and guidance to those seeking work. Want2geton offers 1:1 career coaching support for applying Christian faith to job situations. The document shares bible passages about relying on God's strength in challenges, finding rest and renewal in God, God's power being perfect in weakness, taking refuge and rejoicing in God, God's wisdom and plans surpassing humans, blessing from God, the spirit within believers, God's ways surpassing humans, gifts from God for pleasing him, God working in believers, and the power of words.
The document discusses the Fall of Adam and Eve and how it brought agency and accountability. It provided the conditions for God's children to come to earth, be tested, and progress toward eternal life. While the Fall had consequences, like physical and spiritual death, it was part of God's plan. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, people can be redeemed from the effects and consequences of the Fall like sin. Righteous use of agency following God's will leads to spiritual progress and blessings, while misusing agency diminishes opportunities and progress.
The document discusses the topic of greed. It defines greed as a selfish desire for excessive wealth and possessions. It notes that greed is rooted in fear and lack of trust in God. The document warns that greed leads people to ignore God and their responsibilities to Him and to others in need. It asserts that greed is overcome by cultivating contentment and practicing generosity.
The document discusses finding purpose and meaning in work. It makes three key points:
1) God created humans in His image and told them to work, finding purpose in caring for creation. All jobs can reflect God's creativity when done with the right intentions.
2) While sin introduced brokenness, God redeems humanity and calls Christians to works of healing, liberation, and empowerment through their vocations.
3) Finding one's calling involves discerning natural talents and passions, then taking steps to use those talents to serve others through meaningful work that reflects God's love. Success is defined by faithfulness to one's calling rather than achievements.
The document provides guidance on overcoming fear and living a purposeful life through faith. It suggests setting your mind to solve problems instead of being dominated by fear. Having faith will help vanquish fear and fill your soul with love for others. When you adjust your life through faith, courage, and service, you will be reborn and all challenges will invigorate and spur you on to accomplishment.
The document provides guidance on apologizing to those who have been hurt and making peace. It discusses confronting issues with humility rather than avoiding them, admitting wrongdoing without making excuses, accepting consequences, changing harmful behaviors, asking for forgiveness, turning enemies into friends through kindness, praying for enemies, and overcoming evil with good. The story of Bryyan Jackson, who was infected with HIV by his father as an infant but has chosen to forgive, is presented as an example of following God's call to forgive others.
Presentation for critical thinking classes on fallacies of vagueness: argument from the heap, conceptual slippery slope, fairness slippery slope, and causal slippery slope.
Biblical peacemaking is at its core a recognition that even in the midst of an argument where we have a lot to lose and where our opponent may be entrenched in sin the most important thing we can do is to bring glory to God through our conduct.
Many Messengers of God - The PeacemakerPaula Bidwell

This document discusses how teams can unintentionally slip away from Agile practices over time if they are not careful. It provides examples of common "slippery slopes" such as skipping story estimation, not using relative sizing, carrying stories between sprints, and stopping daily standups. The author urges coaches to focus on helping teams form good habits in the first 3-6 months and celebrate successes while also constructively pointing out areas for improvement. Teams are reminded that Agile requires discipline and that changing habits is difficult, so they should avoid picking up bad practices.
Wilson proposed the Fourteen Points, which called for self-determination, diplomacy over aggression, and maintaining peace. However, at the Paris Peace Conference Wilson was forced to compromise on many of his points due to pressure from Britain, France, and Italy who wanted to continue building their empires. This led to new boundaries that did not support self-determination and ongoing ethnic tensions. While Wilson proposed the League of Nations to ensure future peace, the U.S. Congress rejected it and the Versailles Treaty due to opposition like Henry Cabot Lodge, meaning Wilson's vision for the postwar world was not fully realized.
Mahatma Gandhi was born in 1869 in western India and went to London to study law. He faced discrimination in South Africa, which led him to develop his philosophy of non-violent civil disobedience. He returned to India in 1915 and led the Indian independence movement, organizing large non-cooperation campaigns. After independence in 1947, religious violence broke out and Gandhi went on a fast to promote peace between Hindus and Muslims. In 1948, he was assassinated by a Hindu nationalist.
Conflict arises from perceived incompatibilities between parties and can be exacerbated by social dilemmas, competition, injustice and misperception. Key causes of conflict include pursuing self-interest at the expense of others in social dilemmas, win-lose competition fostering negative views of opponents, perceived inequity in outcomes, and biases that lead parties to see themselves positively and opponents negatively. Peace can be achieved through contact between parties, cooperation on shared goals, open communication to find mutually agreeable solutions, and conciliation where one party makes unilateral concessions to build trust.
The document discusses the relationship between kilograms and grams, noting that 1 kilogram equals 1000 grams. It provides this information in a song and examples to reinforce that 1 kg = 1000 g and vice versa. Examples show converting between kilograms and grams.
We use grams and kilograms to measure weight, with 1 kilogram equaling 1000 grams. Common weights include 500g, 250g, and fractions of a kilogram. Examples are provided for converting between grams and kilograms and balancing weights to measure various amounts. Information about three people's weights - Ann, Rick and Helen - is given and questions are asked to compare their weights.
This document outlines a 10 week challenge to transform one's heart through daily prayer. It encourages praying for wisdom and revelation to know God better, and for one's heart to be enlightened. Participants are instructed to monitor their hearts by watching what they say, identify sources of impurity, and develop plans to eliminate them. Emphasis is placed on forgiving others to be free from unforgiven wounds that keep the heart in chains like bitterness or anger. God's word says forgiveness is important for being forgiven and is required for worship. The challenge is to honestly face any unforgiven wounds enslaving one's heart and believe through God's power and love, one can forgive and be healed.

It says conflict is inevitable but how we respond is crucial, and we should respond by speaking the truth in love. It then provides steps for speaking the truth in love, which include checking your motives, choosing the right timing, planning what to say gently and with illustrations, giving affirmation, and risking rejection. The goal is for the truth to be spoken with tact and timing in order to transform relationships and allow growth into Christ.
While it is natural to feel disappointment when our hopes are not met or when we face difficulties, true disappointment is with ourselves rather than God. God's plans are higher than our own and we often fail to see how He is working for our ultimate good. As Christians, any disappointment we feel in God should only be temporary, as we must trust in His unchanging character of love, mercy, faithfulness and wisdom. Through faith, as Paul demonstrated, we can maintain inner contentment regardless of outward circumstances.
The document outlines steps for a 10 week challenge to transform one's heart through daily prayer and monitoring thoughts and actions. It encourages participants to identify sources of impurity, expose them to God, and develop plans to eliminate them. It stresses the importance of forgiveness and provides 10 steps to achieve forgiveness, including facing what happened, letting God in completely, and being clear on the goal of releasing the offense to God in order to be free and forgiven.
With the contemporary renewed emphasis on the Holy Spirit and in the light of certain trials and temptations of the Christian life, its relevance and its meaning should become more clear. It cannot be easily identified with a clearly spelled out act or state, and yet it is the Sacrament, in a way, of everyday Christian vitality because it gives us the Holy Spirit in a special manner to fortify us in the day to day struggle with the powers of darkness, to enable us to answer the enemy, to come to maturity, prepared to show our faith in word and action, to live it and defend it, to persevere as defenders and witnesses to that faith and, as the old definition put it, "strong and perfect Christians, soldiers of Jesus Christ". It is by Confirmation that we receive the gifts of Pentecost that Christ sent us in order to make us his agents, the builders of his Kingdom. We are gathered here today for the joyful celebration of receiving the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation. The Lord will dwell in us.

Great Expectations~Testimony Part 1
Pam tells her “life story” humorously. Have you had “great expectations” that have disappointed you? Life is what happens when we are planning other things! Sometimes it surprises and confounds us! Pam breaks down our barriers and relates through humor how her expectations were dashed, but that there is hope, if we choose to put our trust in the right object. Through a familiar fairytale, Pamela shows us that we often place our faith in the wrong things for security and happiness. (Opening night at a retreat–35 minutes to 1 hr.)

This document discusses the importance of forgiveness and how unforgiven wounds can keep us chained. It notes that our struggle is not against people but against spiritual forces, and one of the devil's most deadly schemes is unforgiven wounds, which can lead to resentment, bitterness, anger and hatred. It provides biblical passages that emphasize the importance of forgiveness for our own freedom and forgiveness by God. The document encourages examining our hearts for any unforgiven hurts that are affecting us and to pray for strength to face them, believe we can forgive through God's power and love, and ask God to lead us to the freedom that forgiveness provides.
Jesus criticized the scribes and Pharisees for not following their own teachings and instead focusing on outward appearances and honors. He delivered seven woes against them for shutting people out of heaven's kingdom, treating converts harshly, ignoring justice while focusing on minor legal points, neglecting inner purity while appearing outwardly clean, and honoring past prophets but being like those who killed them.
The passage from Psalm 34:1-8 describes how the LORD is good and how those who trust in Him will be blessed. It encourages the reader to taste and see for themselves that the LORD is good. God's goodness can be seen in creation, redemption through Jesus Christ, and the rewards of heaven. Those who cry out to the LORD will be heard, saved from troubles, and surrounded by God's protection. Blessed are those who put their trust in the infinitely and eternally good LORD.
The document discusses reasoning together and unity through love. It references scriptures encouraging walking together in humility, gentleness, patience, and bearing with one another in love. Romans 14 is cited as applying to matters where the Bible does not explicitly say to do or not do something - in such cases, people should not judge one another or cause others to stumble. The overall message is that Christians should follow what the Bible teaches, but be unified and accepting of one another.
This document discusses the biblical figures of Noah, Enoch, and their relationship with God. It notes that Noah was a righteous man who walked with God, and that Enoch walked with God for 300 years before being taken by God, having pleased God through his faith. The document suggests that Enoch must have been in agreement with God and had a willingness to conform to God's ways through his faith and trust in God.
This short document discusses the Jewish tradition of Tashlikh, where Jews symbolically cast away their sins on Rosh Hashanah by tossing pieces of bread or pebbles into bodies of running water. While the ritual originally involved literally throwing stones, it now represents casting away wrongs from the past year and starting anew. The document suggests that in a sense, people still throw symbolic stones today through this annual tradition of cleansing oneself before God.
This document discusses conflicting voices and provides guidance on whose voice to listen to. It warns about listening to the voice of passion and instead encourages listening to the voice of conscience. However, the most important voice is staying with revealed truth from Scripture. The document cautions that we should not accept any gospel other than what is revealed in the Bible and has been received by believers.
God calls Jonah to go to Nineveh and preach against their wickedness. However, Jonah flees by ship to Tarshish to avoid the call. God sends a storm that endangers the ship, and the sailors discover through casting lots that Jonah is responsible. Jonah instructs them to throw him overboard, which calms the sea. He goes to Nineveh as instructed and preaches repentance, and amazingly the entire city responds by turning to God, showing His great compassion even for heathen cities and His ability to use anyone, even the unwilling, to accomplish His purposes.
This passage from Revelation discusses Jesus' second coming. It states that:
1) Jesus' coming is a reality, as he promises "I am coming quickly" multiple times.
2) While the timing of his return is unknown, he instructs believers to always watch and be ready, since he will come unexpectedly like a thief in the night.
3) Believers should keep Jesus' words and commandments so that they may enter heaven when he returns.
Jesus diagnoses the scribes and Pharisees as hypocrites for focusing on outward appearances and minor legalistic rules while neglecting justice, mercy and faith. He criticizes them for straining out gnats but swallowing camels. Jesus also diagnoses his disciples as having little faith when they are afraid during a storm and unable to heal a boy with epilepsy. In contrast, Jesus praises the great faith of a Roman centurion and a woman with a blood disease who were healed based on their faith.
This document discusses Jesus' identity as revealed in the Bible. It provides several quotes from the gospels where Jesus refers to himself as "the bread of life", "the light of the world", and others. It then quotes passages where Peter and others acknowledge Jesus as "the Christ, the Son of the living God." Further quotes emphasize that Jesus is the source of salvation, peace, and hope of resurrection. The overall message is that Jesus reveals himself through scripture as the Christ and savior of mankind.
Human Trafficking Facts and Stats document summarizes that approximately 3,287 people are trafficked into slavery every day, with most being children sold repeatedly for sex. This hidden problem occurs worldwide, including within the United States. The document notes that due to sin, humanity is subject to hardship, corruption, and ultimate death, but promises future redemption and restoration.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

11. Eph. 6:11-12 – Put on the full armor of God, so

and blood, but against the
rulers, against the authorities, against the
powers of this dark world, against the spiritual
forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
15. Matthew 7:24-25..Therefore,
everyone who hears these words of

the streams rose, and the winds
blew and beat against that house;
yet it did not fall, because it had its
foundation on the rock.
Matthew 7:26-27.. But everyone
who hears these words of mine
and does not put them into
practice is like a foolish man who
built his house on sand. The rain
came down, the streams rose,
and the winds blew and beat
against that house, and it fell with
a great crash.”
