THE EFFECTIVENESS OF
STORYTELLING ON ADULT
LEARNING
AMANDA LOTTS
TREVECCA NAZARENE
UNIVERSITY
INTRODUCTION
TECHNIQUE
CREATIVE
RESEARCH
Storytelling allows
us to learn in
different ways.
Storytelling is a
creative way for all
classrooms.
Research has been
able to prove how
effective this
technique is for
adult learning.
MINDSET OF ADULT LEARNERS
LINDEMAN (1926)
We explore the
situation and not the
subject when we
learn. He also says
that adult learning is
built from the
student’s interest.
SITUATION
Understanding the
situation helps us
relate to the
concept of the idea.
INTEREST
Having interest in
the situation or
subject makes adult
learners eager to
learn.
STORIES
MAIN REASON
The main reason
stories are told is to
help us share our
experiences.
WHAT DO THEY SAY
ABOUT US?
Stories help express
who we are and
how we think.
HOW CAN THEY
HELP US LEARN?
Stories show humor
and knowledge that
each learner has.
LEARNING AND EXPERIENCES
MACKERACHER
(2004)
He states that
learning is the
process of making
sense of life’s
experiences.
EXPERIENCES
We can share each
other’s experiences
to help each other
learn.
HOW DOES THIS
HELP US LEARN
FROM
STORYTELLING?
We can understand
what each adult
learner has learned or
experienced by
sharing our stories
with each other.
CONCLUSION
The technique is
creative and helps
with the concept of
learning
Storytelling helps
us share are
experience’s and
the knowledge we
have learned from
them.
It also allows us to
understand
situations we may
encounter
throughout life and
how to approach
them.
