Lost & Found Building Community Via BigTentGroupsite
Issues Lost & Found is growing in size and need to enhance the participants ability to develop community and communicate. Participants do not have a method to allow cross-communication with each other Time constraints on Sunday prevent sufficient time for personal news and announcements All communication must be processed by the Lost & Found Leadership team Solution ,[object Object]
Majority of people have experience with a groupsite (e.g., Yahoo Groups, Google Groups, etc.).Overview
Get the Word Out with Email Blasts When the message is urgent, you'll want to reach your whole group right away. BigTent group news allows you to do just that. Type your message, add a photo if you have time, and click a button to email your entire group. Help Members Help Themselves Use discussion forums to stir up conversation. Whether you have a question about preschools or block parties, chances are someone else in your group does, too. And when you post your question, a response is often only minutes away. Update Your Website in Seconds Stop waiting for your Web master to make updates. On BigTent, all you have to do is check a box to share an announcement or upcoming event. Plus, we give you a free Web page to house all your group's public information. Enjoy Unlimited File Storage Share as many files as you want, when you want. A lot of groups on BigTent have traded in paper updates for online newsletters. Instead of waiting a month to publish news, you can upload an online copy and share the link with members right away. Big Tent – Share Info Quickly
Invite Feedback with Polls Wondering if members liked the last guest speaker at your meeting? Trying to figure out the best time to hold an event? Put up a quick poll and collect members' input. Ask Questions and Share Advice A tried and true element of online groups, discussion forums help your members connect with each other 24/7. Collect Trusted Reviews Using reviews, your group can chime in and decide what's hot (and what's not) in your area. Depending on your interests, your group might discuss the best strollers, playgrounds, plumbers, or dentists. Nurture Interests with Subgroups Everyone's got hobbies and affiliations. Make it easy for your members to share theirs. Parents groups can make playgroups, alumni groups can organize by class year, boards can share meeting minutes -- the sky's the limit! Big Tent – Engage The Group

Can we still send an email to the group? Yes. The Admin will enter a news items and “blast” it to the group. The Admin can send it so everyone (including “web only” users) receive the email. How much time will we need to moderate the site/content? Depends on how frequently it is used. We can setup several moderators so the burden is not on one person. Once we see how people are using it, we can remove the moderation on a section by section basis. Top Concerns
Do we need Church At Charlotte support? No financial assistance is required. Big Tent is free. It does require a CAC staff member to be part of the group (similar to their Facebook policy – per Chuck Jones). This will be a volunteer run site (e.g, Rich Sauser primary admin/trainer). Top Concerns
