The document provides an overview of MavenWire's LogisticsWired solution. LogisticsWired is a pre-configured Oracle Transportation Management environment that supports industry standard logistics flows. It offers rapid deployment, best-in-class hosting, and a proven support infrastructure. The solution details section describes the modules, users, workflows, integration capabilities, and support services provided. Solution flows show order management, planning, execution, tracking and freight settlement processes.
Traditional TMS has not ventured into the world of more specialist logistics solutions such as Air, Rail networks and Postal services. However more and more we are seeing OTM being delivered in these industries across Europe . In the presentation we will demonstrate with use cases how OTM is being applied in these complex, previously off limits industries.
OTM DELIVERED: How Business Process Outsourcing and Preconfigured Solutions...MavenWire
How to leverage BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) to reduce your OTM (Oracle Transportation Management) implementation costs and focus on your core competencies.
Presented by Samuel Levin at MavenWire.
Having the ability to analyze why a particular process in OTM did not output the desired results dramatically increases the value of your OTM team and their overall productivity. Understanding the detailed content provided within Explanations, Logs, and Diagnostics will allow your users to become super users of their own domains.
More and more clients are looking to understand the capabilities of the OTM/G-Log architecture and configuration in order better tune OTM. Usually, this is required because of poor OTM performance or as preparation for significant changes to OTM configuration, volume, or platform. The client may be experience poor performance throughout the entire system or for a very specific use cases. The primary objective of a Performance Tuning Exercise is to understand how OTM is being utilized and to recommend solution to improve the performance of OTM.
We recommend and will take the audience through a “ground-up” performance tuning exercise, starting with hardware and infrastructure, moving to Java and App server tuning, then to OTM technical tuning and finally to the OTM functional tuning (data, agents, etc).
These audits may identify hardware constraints at each tier, networking, or other infrastructure constraints causing sub-optimal system performance. Simply stated, the performance audit will identify all bottlenecks in the system if they exist.
In many cases the largest performance is impacts are not hardware, but rather how the data is configured within the application. So as part of the exercise we will analyze database performance, individual SQL queries, OTM Queues, bulk planning parameters, agents, rates and the settlement process.
Understanding the methods which will best identify these bottlenecks will help you avoid performance issues early in your project and save considerable time and expense as you near go-live. This presentation will guide you through the steps necessary to better understand what is impacting performance and how to best handle it. It will provide lessons learned and tools that are available to you better manage and maintain a healthy OTM environment.

Where did my SOA budget go? I just spent 80% of it on integration and I still haven't got an SOA! We used to call it Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), now we call it service exposition. EAI is still there, it's still hard, and it still takes the vast majority of implementation time on SOA projects. Most companies hadn't finished their EAI when SOA came along. This session discusses how to capture and model the true complexity of an integration interface, and how to relate that to product capabilities. We'll show new techniques for how models can be used to improve estimating, aid product selection, assist designers with common integration patterns, and ultimately generate artifacts. We will discuss common integration patterns such as re-tries, healthcheck, flow control, store-forward, event sequencing and note how these are typically achieved using the current product suite, with particular reference to products such as WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere ESB.
Impact 2012 1640 - BPM Design considerations when optimizing business process...Brian Petrini
Whilst it is not always possible to remove and automate human tasks in a process, if it can be done, it often leads to the most dramatic optimization, leading to fully straight through processing. The challenge is that if straight through processing is the goal, we may need to design the process differently from the beginning, with automation in mind. This lecture uses tried and tested techniques for assessing processes to establish whether they are likely to be able to evolve to full automation, and recommends design patterns to be used to simplify the progression from manual to decision supported to completely automated.

The overall goal in any business is to do more business efficiently. Straight through processes is a term used to describe a series of automated tasks that take place without any or with minimal human intervention. There are many ways to design straight through processes. However, there are specific considerations that need to be taken into account to design straight through processes for high performing scenarios, whether that is a large number of processes or stringent SLAs. In this presentation, we will discuss several design considerations that will help increase process performance and efficiently utilize system resources.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
