LOCATION RESEARCH
LOCATION
As a group we decided we want to base our documentary in a studio
similar to that of Crimewatch. As the genre of the documentary is
crime we felt that Crimewatch was the most successful documentary
to model it on. We are also planning on adding in a reconstruction of
the crime as this makes it more realistic and gives the audience a feel
for what actually happened.
CRIME SCENE – CAR PARK
Toby Westgate, the criminal in our documentary, followed Maisy, our
victim from her place of work, to eventually attack her in the car park
late at night, once she finished work, he attacks her in the car park
wearing a balaclava before driving off in her car. The car park is an
appropriate location as Toby’s obsession for Maisy meant he
watched her for several months knowing when she would finish work
and when it would be empty enough to make his attack.
THE STUDIO
Our documentary is going to be called Coventry Crackdown: The Westgate Robbery.
Although it is a one off special, we want it to seem as if Coventry Crackdown was an
already existing TV series and produced frequent documentaries, just
like Crimewatch.
We are going to use the green screen in our media suite to create the studio scenes
of our documentary. We feel that this will make it a lot more professional and like
that of Crimewatch. As the genre is crime we want it to be as serious as it should be
and this effect will enable us to do this
WITNESS’S HOME
Our documentary will feature an eye witness account from Maisy's
best friend and colleague who wishes to remain anonymous. We
hope to use iMovie and Photoshop to blur her face and disguise her
identity.
We plan to film the witness in the comfort of her own home. This
because it is a sensitive case and police would like her to feel safe
and comfortable as a witness to the crime.
