My reasoning for
these two shots is that
in existing media
products like the
educating
programmes, they
show many clips of
corridors with students
walking through
between lessons etc.
to give a real life,
natural feel to the
documentary. The shot
on the left is of a
hallway in the 6th form
block which links to
the fact my
documentary is about
life in 6th form so the
audience may see a
more natural side to
the students when
they aren't observed
by teachers and have a
little free time
between lessons.
The idea behind this shot was
to be able to capture an
important and serious side to
the documentary. This is the
room in which assembly’s take
place. This shot was taken from
a high angle in order to
capture the whole room and
everyone who would be sitting
here. This gives the audience a
perspective on who is paying
attention and who is not to
then maybe identify the
different work ethics and
attention spans of students in
6th form. The assembly’s that
take place may be about how
to revise for exams, who to ask
for help, who needs to attend
after school sessions and what
things to do post 6th form.
This is a shot of a
classroom in the school.
The reasoning behind
this is to show students
in a working and learning
environment. This shot
allows you to see the
whole class and everyone
who would be in here. As
this is a school
documentary, it is
important to have a
scene with a class to be
able to see a learning
environment because
this is what the existing
educating shows have in
their documentaries. By
using a shot like this in a
clip, the audience get to
see what teaching styles
are used in the run up to
exams.
