True transmedia involves sharing a world and telling endless stories across different mediums like movies, TV, books and games. A franchise needs unique characters, settings, problems and story conventions that can be adapted to other media through sequels, prequels and spin-offs. Examples include Star Wars, Iron Man, Harry Potter, Transformers and Star Trek, which originated from movies, comics, novels, toys and TV respectively. Building a franchise requires a hero, allies, enemies, gadgets and a unique world that can translate to different mediums like toys, comics, movies, games and books. A franchise bible can start the process but the world is built over time through sequels, prequels, spin-offs
Uses and abuses of data visualizations in mass medianumeroteca
ESS Visualisation Workshop 2016. Valencia. May 17-18, 2016.
Abstract
Data visualizations are a powerful way to display and communicate data that otherwise would be impossible to transmit in effective and concise ways. The spread of broadband Internet, the easier access to reusable datasets, the rise in read/write digital media literacies, and the lower barrier to generate data visualizations are making mass media to intensively use of infographics. Newspaper and online news sites are taking advantage of new, affordable and easy to access data visualization tools to broadcast their messages. How can these new tools and opportunities be used effectively? What are good practices regarding data visualization for a general audience?
After an introduction to a series of key concepts about visualizing data the lecture will follow with an analysis of a series of significant data visualizations (tables, pie and bar charts, maps and other systems) from TV, daily newspapers and news websites to detect good and bad practices when visualizing statistical information. The lecturer will then analyze recent literature of visualization studies regarding persuasion, memorability and comprehension. What are more effective embellished or minimal data visualizations? Does graphical presentation of data make a message more persuasive?
The lecture will finish with a list of recommendations and accessible tools to plan and develop successful data visualizations.

This document describes a hand gesture controlled wireless land rover. The project uses an accelerometer to detect hand gestures which are transmitted via RF to control motors and move the land rover in four directions. The key components are a microcontroller, accelerometer, encoder, transmitter, receiver, motor driver and motors. Programming is done using AVR studio to flash the microcontroller. Advantages include compact size and wireless control using natural hand gestures. Future enhancements could include onboard controls, image processing for improved sensitivity and gyro sensors.

Issues for people living in squatter settlements in led cstudorgeog
Rapid urbanization in poorer parts of the world has led to the development of squatter settlements that house over 50% of some city populations. Squatter settlements are informal and illegal communities built on unused land without basic infrastructure or amenities. Residents live in makeshift shelters with limited access to clean water, sanitation, healthcare, education, and other services. As a result, living conditions are poor and residents face higher risks of waterborne diseases, malnutrition, crime, and other issues affecting their quality of life.
