The passage discusses how Christians receive the Holy Spirit. It states that we receive the Holy Spirit the moment we believe in and accept Jesus Christ as our savior. The Holy Spirit is God's gift that allows us to have spiritual power and understanding to become more like Christ. Several Bible passages are cited that indicate the Holy Spirit is received at salvation, including Ephesians 1:13-14 which refers to the Holy Spirit as the "seal" or guarantee of salvation. While some aspects like the filling of the Spirit are ongoing, the receiving and indwelling of the Spirit occurs at the point of salvation according to Scripture.
What does John think about faith? How is faith “knowing Jesus Christ and his Father”? What kind of “knowledge” is he talking about? How does it relate to the Promised One, the Holy Spirit? Who initiates faith? How does faith relate to “eternal life” and when does that happen? What does John think about the words of Jesus? What is the opposite of faith for John? Unbelief?

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

“And you also wereincluded in Christwhen you heard themessageoftruth, thegospel ofyoursalvation.

We can learnfromwhere Apostle Paul statesinEphesians1that the HolySpiritisthe seal of salvation
for all those whobelieve: “Andyoualsowere includedinChristwhen you heard the message of truth,

Corinthians12:13 , “Forwe were all baptizedby one Spiritinto one body—whetherJews or Greeks,
slave or free—andwe were all given the one Spirit to drink.” But the bible alsotellsusthat if a person
doesnotpossessthe HolySpirit,he or she doesnotbelongtoChristas we can readin Romans8:9,
“You,however, are not in the realm ofthe fleshbut are in the realm of the Spirit,if indeed the Spiritof
Godlives inyou. And ifanyonedoes not have the Spirit ofChrist, they do notbelong to Christ.”
The above stated passagesmake itclear thatthe HolySpiritisreceivedatthe time one receives

couldnot be the “seal of salvation” asstatedin Ephesians1:13-14 if He isnot receivedatthe momentof

Thisdiscussioniscontroversialbecause the ministriesof the HolySpiritare oftenconfused byeven

occurs at the momentof salvation, butsome Christiansdonot.Thissometimesresultsinthe baptismof

where Jesussaidasstatedin John 14:26, “Butthe Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send
in my name, will teach you all thingsand will remind youof everything I have saidto you.”
2. So howdo we can receive the HolySpirit isthe all importantquestionformany. The Bible tellsusthat
we receive the HolySpiritby havingfaithand receivingthe LordJesusChristas one’sSavior.Itisonly

Throughour faithand belief inJesusChristandby seekingsalvation,we thenbelongtoHimandwe

Spiritas we can learnfrom Acts 2:38, “Peter replied,“Repent and be baptized, every one ofyou, inthe
name of JesusChristfor the forgivenessofyour sins. And you will receive the giftof the Holy Spirit.”
There are otherpassages thatshow tellsus the Spiritisusuallygiventothe repentantbelieverafter

can understandthiswhenwe read Acts8:14-17, “Whenthe apostlesin Jerusalemheard that Samaria

Whenthey arrived,they prayed
for the new believers there that they mightreceive the Holy Spirit, 16
because the Holy Spirithad not

Then Peter
