3. Focus of the study
 The focus of this paper is on feminism perspective of
woman identity in Emily’s poem I’m wife, I’ve finished
that
 Based on the focus, it is broken down into some questions
as follows; 1. What problems exist in the Poetry I’m Wife,
I’ve finished that? 2. What is the inner factor from the
problem related to Emily Dickinson’s life? 3. How does
the result on the poem based on Emily Dickinson’s
thought?

4. Significate of the Study
 We found related research to Emily’s poem I’m wife I’ve
finished that. By doing so, we can get feminism
perspectives that related on our daily life.
 Practically the study can give many advantages for the
reader in understanding feminism about inequality of
woman so that we can’t discriminate woman in ordinary
life

5. Theoretical framework
 The theoretical framework to apply is Feminism theory of Literature by
Maggie Humm and Rebecca Walker
 According to them, the history of feminism can be divided into three
waves. The first wave refers mainly to women's suffrage movements of
the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries (mainly concerned with
women's right to vote). The second wave refers to the ideas and actions
associated with the women's liberation movement beginning in the 1960s
(which campaigned for legal and social rights for women). The third wave
refers to a continuation of, and a reaction to the perceived failures of,
second-wave feminism, beginning in the 1990s.

6. Findings and Discussion
1. Emily Dickinson wants to show the differences between
“woman” and “wife”.
2. Inequality between man and woman.
3. Positive idea of married woman.
4. The norm of society pressures woman to get married.
5. “Soft eclipse” forms as transformation a girl to a wife.
6. Comparing girl and a wife like earth and heaven.
7. Marriage can be a comfort or a pain

7. Conclusion
-Firstly Problem faced by the differentiation of woman and wife. Being a
woman full of freedom is her basic thought. But with the norms of
society surrounds her, she made a final decision to be a “wife”. In the
nineteenth century, being a wife is a prestige status in society. But as we
married, our live stop. We’re only a woman for our husband who take
care for children.
-Secondly, the inner factor caused the problems are her not so good family
that she comes from a poor family background. People around her force
her to marry for getting better life. This poem is presented to mock the
society for pressurizing girls to get married, have a family, have
children, and have a typical lifestyle.
-The result of this poem is lead to her though that we can’t compare for
being single or being married woman. Although in the end she votes for
marriage, still she declares that a wife also has own freedom and rights.

8. Implification
 The feminism perspective of woman in the Emily’s era is really
different on this recent era. In the mid of nineteenth century, girl was
seen as nothing. Meanwhile marriage can be seen as the best choice
of woman. The norms of society is the crucial one considering that a
girl must be married with a prospective man. In this recent era, if we
talk about feminism in Indonesia, one of the best concepts or forms
related to this is an example of Kartini’s storys. The other real
movements of feminism in Indonesia is the existences of woman
organization in Indonesia. Its purpose is to give help, training,
knowledge to women, and right to speech in public. Another
explanation that woman can independently grow their passion in
dailylife. They can follow in related to politic such as being
president or another local election. Women can make their own
social status in their daily life by marriage or not.
