Routing Configuration and Interface of the router with millions of PC’s are the easiest way to complete the work of networking. The study of Cisco routers, cables gives a way of performing the experiment successfully. The basic need for this experiment is the software known as “Cisco Packet Tracer”. This software has an inbuilt configuration and can be compared with Network Simulators. In this project, the demonstration of whether the router is configured correctly in port with the console as well as cross-over cable. Assigning of IP addresses and also checking the transmission of packets by associating Packet Internet Groper (PING) in command prompt. Connecting the PC’s with the router for the exchange of information becomes a conventional method as PC’s cannot transmit data of their own. Fast Ethernet connectivity with the ports between the router and the PC’s and enabling the Ethernet verifies whether the router is receiving an information packet or not.
In this project, we will not use Simple Network Message Protocol (SNMP), because we are not considering the data transfer between the PC and Router. But we are just configuring that the PC is able to transfer and the router is able to receive the correct sequence of data.

About Linksys Router Login
A Linksys router is located between your DSL or cable modem and your internal network. You
can access the router's configuration console anywhere from the internal network. However, to
access the console from a remote location, you need to change the settings in the administration
section.
By default, the Linksys router blocks all attempts at remotely accessing the console for security
reasons. However, for administrators who manage networks remotely, you can enable this
option.
Steps for Linksys Router Login
If you are ready to log in to your Linksys wireless router, there are certain things you have to do
before that.
STEP 1: Checking the connections between your router and PC or laptop.
STEP 2: Checking if 192.168.1.1 is your router’s default IP address
STEP 3: Finding the router default username and password
STEP 4: Logging into your router
Basically, these four steps are easy to follow and once you are done, you can go further
exploring your wireless router options. If any of the steps are already completed (for example,
your router is already connected), just skip it and follow the process from the next step.
STEP 1: Checking the connections
(If your router is already connected to your PC or laptop, skip this step and just check if the
Ethernet cable is firmly connected to the ports or that your router is powered ON)
This step obviously requires you to already have a Linksys router which best satisfies your needs
in terms of service and budget. So here is what you have to do:
1. Attach the antennas to the Linksys wireless router.
2. Choose a location for the router where it will be placed. Normally a central location is
chosen which is not surrounded by any metal as the signal can’t pass through a metal.
The router should be placed where all the users have the same distance from it to
experience quality service.
3. Ethernet cable is plugged in the internet port on the backside of the router.

4. Connection with the computer is then established by plugging another cable into the
Ethernet port on your computer and attaching the other end of the Ethernet cable to any
one of the available ports on the back of the router. Any port on the backside of the router
can be used for connection except for the one labeled “WAN”.
5. Then plug in the router into an electrical outlet.
6. Once you do that, the power light will start blinking which shows that the router is
booting up and when it stops blinking it shows that the router has finished booting up.
7. Now a new IP address from the router is accessed through the dynamic host configuration
protocol (DHCP) to reboot your computer.
STEP 2: Checking if 192.168.1.1 is your router’s default IP address
Generally, 192.168.1.1 is the default IP for Linksys routers. However, sometimes it is not the
case. The reason behind this is that the previous owner (if you are using a second-hand router) or
someone else has changed the router’s default IP for some reason, mainly security. Luckily, there
is a simple method to find your router default IP using the Command prompt and the IPCONFIG
command. The router login IP will be listed under Default Gateway.

STEP 3: Finding the router’s default username and password
Every router manufacturer, and Linksys as well, uses a default username/password combination
which allows you to login to the router.
In this case the default Linksys router login details are:
Username – admin or just leave this field blank
Password – admin
STEP 4: Logging into your router
OK, so everything is ready now. You have checked the connections, you are certain that
192.168.1.1 is the right IP, you have written the default Linksys username and password.
– Open up your web browser and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1
– The login window will appear. Enter the username and password, and press OK.
If everything is done right the Linksys router login page, or the so called administrative console,
will open.

Great, you have finally logged in to your router. As you can see there are plenty of options you
can modify here, for example:
Enable or disable wireless internet connection
Secure your home network
Change the network name
Change the default password
Change the default IP … and the list goes on.
Possible Router Login Problems and How to fix Them
If you have followed our guide carefully, you shouldn’t have any problems to log in to your
Linksys router. However, there are some cases where certain problems may occur. Therefore we
have made a list of the most common problems and how to fix them easily.
BEFORE the Login window appears
Problem – You have entered the IP and nothing happens.
Reason 1 – Wrong IP
Solution – Check if you have typed the IP correctly. We all make mistakes, so it is not unusual
to make a small typing mistake like 192.168.l.l.
Reason 2 – You have typed the IP in the Search bar
Solution – The Linksys router login IP (192.168.1.1) has to be typed in the address bar.
Reason 3 – Your router is OFF or it is not connected to the PC
Solution – Check if the router is powered on and that all the lights are on. Check if the Ethernet
cable is properly and firmly connected to the router and PC/laptop.
Reason 4 – The laptop you are trying to connect to the router is not part of your network
Soution – A laptop or other device which is not part of your home network can’t access the
router settings when you enter the Linksys router login IP. Either make it part of your network or
connect it to the router using an Ethernet cable.
