LINKING WORDS

Linking words, also known as "connectors"
are words that link or relate two ideas within
a sentence (connecting two clauses) or
within a paragraph (connecting two
sentences). We have already introduced
this concept in a previous lesson
Conjunctions, now we go further into them.
LINKING WORDS
Functions
 The linking words or connectors, have several
functions, such as contrast information, make
comparisons, add information or give reasons or
explanations.
 If we use these words incorrectly we can completely
change the meaning of the phrase and can cause
confusion. Therefore, it is important to have a good
understanding of the different meanings and uses of
these words.
 By using linking words we improve english
proficiency as they allow us to express a more
complex way. The following lessons provide an
explanation of the various functions to relate words
and grammatical rules for use.
