1. Product characteristics
ZOOMLION ZMC85 truck crane, which integrates our many years’ experience in designing and
manufacturing mobile cranes with advanced technology, is a new-generation and
high-performance product developed to meet the market demands. Its performances, such as
lifting height, main boom length, working speed and lifting capacity, have achieved advanced
international level.
This product is a truck crane of full range slewing function, telescopic boom sections and
pilot-operated proportional controlled systems. The crane adopts self-manufactured full-width
4-axle special purpose chassis (8×4 drive, offering convenient and flexible steering, 8×8 steer,
providing small turning radius), providing wide vision, spacious cab and luxurious equipment.
The latest pilot-operated proportional directional control valve and variable pump + gear pump
system ensure that each executive mechanism makes full use of its working capability. The
easy-controlled, flexible, reliable and stepless speed regulated joysticks (L / R) can provide the
crane with smooth simultaneous movements between “Spool winches up”, “Reel winches off”,
“Derricking”, “Slewing” and “Telescope boom in / out”, which greatly improve the crane’s working
efficiency. The safety devices such as relief valve, balance valve, hydraulic lock and brake valve
fitted in hydraulic system prevent the accidents caused by oil line overload and oil pipe ruptures.
The complete lighting systems and the safety devices such as load moment limiter ensure your
safety during operation and are convenient for night work.
This crane has a novel style which makes it beautiful in figure, in form and in color.

Construction and Characteristics
SECTION 5-1.1: LOAD RATINGS
5-1.1.1 Load Ratings — Where Stability Governs
Lifting Performance
(a) The margin of stability for determination of load
ratings, with booms of stipulated lengths at stipulated
working radii for the various types of crane mountings,
is established by taking a percentage of the loads that
will produce a condition of tipping or balance with the
boom in the least stable direction relative to the mount-
ing. With the indicated types of mounting under condi-
tions stipulated in paras. 5-1.1.1(b) and (c), the load
ratings shall not exceed the percentages for cranes given
in Table 1.
(b) The following stipulations shall govern the appli-
cation of the values in para. 5-1.1.1(a) for locomotive
cranes:
(1) The crane shall be standing on a track that is
level within 1% grade.
(2) The radius of the load is the horizontal distance
from a projection of the axis of rotation to the rail support
surface, before loading, to the center of the vertical hoist
line or tackle with load applied.
(3) Tipping loads from which ratings are deter-
mined shall be applied under static conditions only, i.e.,
without the dynamic effect of lifting, lowering, swing-
ing, or booming.
(4) The weight of all auxiliary handling devices
such as lower load block, hooks, and slings shall be
considered as part of the load.
(c) Stipulations governing the application of the val-
ues in para. 5-1.1.1(a) shall be in accordance with ANSI/
SAE J765.
(d) The effectiveness of these preceding stability fac-
tors will be influenced by such additional factors as
freely suspended loads, track, wind, or ground condi-
tions, condition and inflation of rubber tires, boom
lengths, proper operating speeds for existing conditions,
and, in general, careful and competent operation. Any
standard attachments to the boom such as jibs and auxil-
iary or whip lines shall be considered as affecting stabil-
ity and a deduction shall be made from load ratings in
accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. The
effect of lights, pile lead adaptors, or other nonstandard
attachments shall also be deducted from load ratings.
All of these shall be taken into account.
(e) When cranes included in the scope of B30.5 are
mounted on barges or pontoons, factors in addition to

NOTES:
(1) As a precaution while testing for free ratings, outriggers should
be loosely applied; rail clamps should not be used.
(2) The difference between the backward stability moment and the
forward moment resulting from the load should not be less than
30,000 lb-ft (40,675 N · m) with the backward stability moment
being the greater.
(3) The following formula shall be used for less than full extension
of all outrigger beams to find the rated capacity:

(4) If crane operation with outriggers in positions other than fully
extended is permitted by the crane manufacturer, specified proce-
dures, ratings, and limitations for any configurations that are
permitted shall be provided.

ence the stability and structural competence. The load
rating for a crane on a barge or pontoon shall be modified
as recommended by the manufacturer or a qualified
person (refer to ASME B30.8).

Product characteristics ZOOMLION ZMC85 truck crane, which integrates our many years’ experience in designing and manufacturing mobile cranes with advanced technology, is a new-generation and high-performance product developed to meet the market demands. Its performances, such as lifting height, main boom length, working speed and lifting capacity, have achieved advanced international level. This product is a truck crane of full range slewing function, telescopic boom sections and pilot-operated proportional controlled systems. The crane adopts self-manufactured full-width 4-axle special purpose chassis (8×4 drive, offering convenient and flexible steering, 8×8 steer, providing small turning radius), providing wide vision, spacious cab and luxurious equipment. The latest pilot-operated proportional directional control valve and variable pump + gear pump system ensure that each executive mechanism makes full use of its working capability. The easy-controlled, flexible, reliable and stepless speed regulated joysticks (L / R) can provide the crane with smooth simultaneous movements between “Spool winches up”, “Reel winches off”, “Derricking”, “Slewing” and “Telescope boom in / out”, which greatly improve the crane’s working efficiency. The safety devices such as relief valve, balance valve, hydraulic lock and brake valve fitted in hydraulic system prevent the accidents caused by oil line overload and oil pipe ruptures. ASME B30.5-2004 MOBILE AND LOCOMOTIVE CRANES Chapter 5-1 Construction and Characteristics SECTION 5-1.1: LOAD RATINGS 5-1.1.1 Load Ratings — Where Stability Governs Lifting Performance (a) The margin of stability for determination of load ratings, with booms of stipulated lengths at stipulated working radii for the various types of crane mountings, is established by taking a percentage of the loads that will produce a condition of tipping or balance with the boom in the least stable direction relative to the mount- ing. With the indicated types of mounting under condi- tions stipulated in paras. 5-1.1.1(b) and (c), the load ratings shall not exceed the percentages for cranes given in Table 1. (b) The following stipulations shall govern the appli- cation of the values in para. 5-1.1.1(a) for locomotive cranes: (1) The crane shall be standing on a track that is level within 1% grade. (2) The radius of the load is the horizontal distance from a projection of the axis of rotation to the rail support surface, before loading, to the center of the vertical hoist line or tackle with load applied. (3) Tipping loads from which ratings are deter- mined shall be applied under static conditions only, i.e., without the dynamic effect of lifting, lowering, swing- ing, or booming. (4) The weight of all auxiliary handling devices such as lower load block, hooks, and slings shall be considered as part of the load. (c) Stipulations governing the application of the val- ues in para. 5-1.1.1(a) shall be in accordance with ANSI/ SAE J765. (d) The effectiveness of these preceding stability fac- tors will be influenced by such additional factors as freely suspended loads, track, wind, or ground condi- tions, condition and inflation of rubber tires, boom lengths, proper operating speeds for existing conditions, and, in general, careful and competent operation. Any standard attachments to the boom such as jibs and auxil- iary or whip lines shall be considered as affecting stabil- ity and a deduction shall be made from load ratings in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. The effect of lights, pile lead adaptors, or other nonstandard attachments shall also be deducted from load ratings. All of these shall be taken into account.
