The life cycle of a frog can be summarized in 3 stages: 1. Eggs are laid in water and hatch into tadpoles. Tadpoles live in the water, breathing through gills and feeding on algae with their mouths. 2. Over several weeks, tadpoles grow legs and lungs while their tails are absorbed. They transition from filter feeders to small carnivores. 3. Between 12-16 weeks, the tadpoles complete metamorphosis and emerge from the water as tiny frogs, called froglets. As adults, frogs live on land and return to water to breed, restarting their life cycle.
