3. Frog Eggs
• It is interesting to note that frog
eggs do not have shells. They are
made up of a jelly-like material that
protects the eggs from being eaten
by fish.
5. Tiny Tadpoles
• The tadpole has a head, a body, and
a tail. The tadpole will make its
home under the water. It will eat
algae and very small plants.
7. Second Phase (cont’d)
• In about seven to eight weeks, bumps
on its body will turn into back legs.
• In two more weeks, tiny front legs
will appear.
• During this time, lungs have been
developing as well.
8. Third Phase
• The third phase of a frog’s
development begins with the tadpole
turning into a small froglet. It will
swim to the surface of the water and
breathe air after a total of about
twelve weeks.
9. Froglet
• For the next three months the froglet
will mature. The tail will gradually
become smaller.
10. Fourth Phase
• The fourth phase occurs when the
froglet matures and becomes a young
frog. The tail has completely
disappeared and the frog can now
breathe air.
