The library is the intellectual center of campus. It provides physical or digital access to a wide range of resources, from books to databases, and serves as a space for quiet study as well as group collaboration. Libraries are maintained by institutions like schools and universities to support learning and research. They are staffed by experts who organize information and help users meet their needs. School libraries in particular aim to help students develop lifelong independent learning skills and the ability to make informed decisions through access to curriculum-aligned resources and the development of information literacy.

2.  A library is an organized collection of sources of information and
similar resources, made accessible to a defined community for
reference or borrowing. It provides physical or digital access to
material, and may be a physical building or room, or a virtual
space, or both. A library's collection can
include books, periodicals,newspapers, manuscripts, films, maps,
prints, documents, microform, CDs,
cassettes, videotapes, DVDs, Blu-ray Discs, e-
books, audiobooks, databases, and other formats. Libraries range
in size from a few shelves of books to several million items. In
Latin and Greek, the idea of library is represented
by Bibliotheca andBibliothēkē (Greek: βιβλιοθήκη): derivatives of
these mean library in many modern languages, e.g.
French bibliothèque
 Organized for use and maintained by a public day, an institution,
a corporation, or a private individual.
 Provide quite areas for studying, and they also often offer common
areas to facilitate group study and collaboration.

5. The school centre incorporates:
1. A library of a wide range of appropriate print, multi-
media and electronic resources selected to match the
school’s curriculum; the student’s learning styles and
abilities and their interests.
2. Teaching, learning and production areas suitable for
individual, small and large group use to facilitate the
development of information literacy skills.
3. Equipment and technologies to enable students to
present their research assignments in a variety of
modes.
4. Services to other community groups where
appropriate.

6. 1. There has been insufficient attention to strategies
planning, i.e. the making of decision related to a
three to ten year time frame. We seek to examine the
middle group between the large literature on
possible options among the tactical and operational
decisions made day-to-day and month-by-month
and the sweeping visions of endless, interlinked
electronic villages. The latter offer little continuity
with present experience and can make those who are
dependent on existing services understandably
nervous. Some people are enthusiasts for electronic
solutions ; other want to avoid the high cost of
continuing present operations

7. 2. A disproportionate amount of attention has been
paid to new information technology. It is not really
that too much attention has been given to it, but
rather that no enough critical attention has been
given to the characteristics of the familiar technology
of paper. We adapt to what we adopt. What is
familiar tends to be transparent. It may take some
conscious effort to appraise critically and evaluatively
what we are so accustomed to.
3. There is in fact, considerable experience on which
our strategic planning can be based, more than is
generally realized.

8. The purpose being pursued in library service is the
provision of access to books, journals, and other
informative materials. Libraries have never had a
monopoly since much of what is in demand is also
available in personal collection, bookshops, from
personal contacts, and indeed, from other sorts of
libraries.
Library Service is a busy, service-oriented activity, with
a deeply – rooted emphasis reflected on the professional
literature, on practical and technical matters, on means,
rather than on ends, and tactics rather than strategy.
