13. Digital Libraries / Intuitional
Repositories
A digital library is a networked collection of digital
objects – text, still images, moving images,
sound, data – with arrangement, search features
Metadata that allow for discovery and
presentation, supporting research and teaching,
and with attention paid to architecture,
persistence, longevity, and digital preservation.
14. Cont…
Digital conversion for the purpose of online access
to an information resource
Creation of metadata for future digital conversion
Tools for creating online resources it is not only
creating a web site. It is not only scanning to place
photographs or other images on your web site. The
goal to create and sustain “good” digital collections.

18. Suggestions:
The Librarian should have the skills on ICT to
implement in the library
The Authority should be provide annual
budgets
Sufficient trained staff should be provided
Workshops, Training and Orientation required
for upgrading of latest knowledge
&Technology
19. Conclusion
ICT is changing the work of libraries and information
centers. More than ever, the libraries need this
technology. An increased number of users, a
greater demand for library materials, an increase in
the amount of material being published
New electronic formats and sources, and the
development of new and cheaper computers are
some of the reasons for the growing need for ICT in
libraries .
The Librarians, library patrons and management,
should help develop ICT-based libraries to meet the
changing demands of the users
