Lewis Carroll was a British author born in 1832. He enjoyed constructing mazes and puppet shows as a child. He later became a mathematics professor at Oxford. He is best known for his novels Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, in which the narratives are intertwined and mathematical puzzles are hidden beneath nonsensical surfaces. The documents provide an overview of Carroll's life and works, with details on his notable books and poems, as well as elements to understand in his narratives such as logical paradoxes, the meaning of words, and his portrayal of childhood versus the adult world.

Both the 1951 and 2010 Disney version of Alice in Wonderland differ significantly from the original books. In this lecture I show that one of the most important differences is the genre of the story that is told in each of these.

This is a undergraduate student built powerpoint on AMERICAN CULTURE 101 assignment. I thought it would reflect the character of the free American youth and what our society has been going through in these burdensome economic times in the hearts, minds, and souls of the university student. This student has gone through alot of searches and has something to offer society and yet fun and freedom of young adulthood is reflected in the topical matter and the worrisomeness of the slides.

It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

7. Changes in our concept about ChildhoodChanges in our concept about Childhood
The concept about childhood was invented in the
18th century.
Children didn’t appear in literary works.
Even when they appeared, this work was for adults.
Most of the tales “for children” in opposition to
“about children” were adult stories with a degree of
adaptation and a certain sense of morality.
8. In Wonderland, both the laws of nature and society’s laws are
disrupted: time and space behave unpredictably, animals talk and
anything can happen during a chess match or while having tea. The
sense of threat to a child in an adult world is evoked through fantasy.
9. 4 elements to pay attention
while reading Alice’s
Adventures in
Wonderland.
A child can grow or shrink, usually as
a result of drinking or eating
something, just as children are told
to do.
The characters are often rude,
aggressive or frustrated, such as
adults can be. Power and perversity
prevail over justice, reflecting the
arbitrary nature of power exercised
by adults on children.
The animals have human
characteristics, sometimes
they are exaggerated or
distorted, but always
functioning as substitutes
for adults.
The time on the clock means nothing, what
reflects the regimented world of adults with
their regulations and senseless schemes
through a child’s perspective.
