This document establishes standards for kingpins used to connect semi-trailers to prime movers in articulated vehicles. It specifies requirements for 50mm, 75mm, and 90mm kingpins, including mechanical properties, dimensional standards for interchangeability, and dynamic testing. Guidelines are provided for kingpin attachment to skid plates and for determining dynamic strength through finite element analysis. The purpose is to ensure safe and standardized kingpins that allow full interchangeability between vehicle combinations.
This document provides guidelines for designing, fabricating, and installing fixed ladders and cages for process industry facilities. It references industry standards and codes as well as OSHA regulations. Design details shown include ladder components, connections, load assumptions, and requirements for cages to provide fall protection on ladders over 20 feet tall. Fabricators and erectors should follow these guidelines to construct ladders that are safe and meet regulatory requirements.
This document summarizes the history and revisions of the ASME B16.11 standard for forged fittings, socket-welding, and threaded fittings. It began development in the 1930s to standardize dimensions for socket-welding fittings. The standard has undergone several revisions in 1941, 1946, 1966, 1973, 1980, 1991, 1996, and 2001 to update materials, pressure ratings, and include metric measurements. The latest 2001 edition removed partial compliance fittings and nonstandard material requirements.
This document provides a summary of NEMA/ANSI standards for electricity metering. It begins with background on international organizations that set metrology standards, including the Treaty of the Meter signed in 1875. It then discusses the roles of ANSI and NEMA in accrediting standards committees in the US. The bulk of the document outlines recent updates from spring 2017 meetings, including draft standards on VAR/VARh measurement, auxiliary device influence testing, and field testing procedures. It concludes with an invitation to contact the presenter with any other questions.

This document outlines inspection procedures for positive material identification (PMI) requirements at Saudi Aramco facilities. It details the responsibilities of inspectors to verify materials meet specifications using PMI analysis. Alloy items like plates, forgings, and welds must undergo PMI testing before post-weld treatments or insulation. Inspectors complete PMI reports and logs to document testing of elements like carbon, chromium, and nickel against acceptance criteria. Verified materials are color coded according to specifications to identify their composition.
This document provides the 8th edition of the AWS A5.18/A5.18M:2021 specification for carbon steel electrodes and rods for gas shielded arc welding. Some key changes from the previous edition include allowing computed radiography or digital radiography to evaluate welds, adding optional designators to indicate ranges of compatible shielding gases or compliance with ASME code, and replacing electrode testing parameters with a single heat input requirement. The specification establishes classification based on chemical composition and mechanical properties of the weld metal. Requirements are also defined for usability, manufacturing, diameters, lengths, and packaging of the electrodes and rods.
This document is the ANSI/ASQ Z1.9-2003 standard which provides sampling procedures and tables for inspection by variables for percent nonconforming. It establishes acceptance sampling plans for continuous streams of lots based on an Acceptable Quality Limit (AQL). Lewis barbe expert witness case union pacific railroadLewis Barbe
Lewis Barbe was selected as the fire cause and origin consultant by the U.S. Department of Justice for the Union Pacific Railroad court case. The letter from the U.S. Attorney outlines the government's claims against Union Pacific for damages arising from the 2000 Storrie Fire, which burned over 56,000 acres. The government's investigation found the fire was caused by Union Pacific's negligent track repair work involving a saw that ignited vegetation. Union Pacific is liable under California law for fire suppression costs and other damages due to negligently starting the fire and failing to properly extinguish it.
Juan Jose Salinas' leg was torn off after falling into a screw conveyor at a cement plant. He sued Westinghouse Electric Corporation, who designed the motor control center that started and stopped the conveyor motor. A jury awarded Salinas $800,000. Westinghouse appealed, arguing juror misconduct. During deliberations, one juror looked up the definition of "apparatus" in a dictionary and shared it with others. The trial court granted a new trial based on misconduct. The appellate court reversed, finding the misconduct was harmless because the definition was paraphrased, not verbatim, and the term was open to interpretation by both parties. The judgment in favor of Salinas was affirmed.

Designing and Sustaining Large-Scale Value-Centered Agile Ecosystems (powered...Alexey Krivitsky
Is Agile dead? It depends on what you mean by 'Agile'. If you mean that the organizations are not getting the promised benefits because they were focusing too much on the team-level agile "ways of working" instead of systemic global improvements -- then we are in agreement. It is a misunderstanding of Agility that led us down a dead-end. At Org Topologies, we see bright sparks -- the signs of the 'second wave of Agile' as we call it. The emphasis is shifting towards both in-team and inter-team collaboration. Away from false dichotomies. Both: team autonomy and shared broad product ownership are required to sustain true result-oriented organizational agility. Org Topologies is a package offering a visual language plus thinking tools required to communicate org development direction and can be used to help design and then sustain org change aiming at higher organizational archetypes.
