Photo safaris are fun, free events maximizing responsible travel, social web and synchronicity. Locals and visitors are invited to take photos in a public space and sharing pics online using relevant social web, including Flickr Groups, Facebook events, Foodspotting, Google+, Foursquare and Twitter. Random passers-by are invited to join the fun. Think of this as a mobile meet-and-greet!
If there is interest, a reception and exhibition of the photos can be held later. The objective is to 'walk the talk' of responsible, conscious travel and develop web literacy while respecting the natural and cultural worlds. Instead of taking pictures of people, take photos with people. This is a heuristic trek that combines mobile devices and face-to-face communication.
We recommend organizers develop some games for the safari as well as prizes and awards. This does not have to be fancy nor expensive. Gameification on!

Cater to Your Customer: Adapting User Personas to Social EngagementCorey McPherson Nash
A company engaged in social media is a dime a dozen in 2010, but how many of those companies are in sync with the hearts and minds of their customers? Learn how to delve deeper into the opportunities of social media by understanding how to target users based on their attitude, goals, and behaviors. Capturing your audience's attention at an almost subconscious level to address their needs and interests will be a necessity to effectively and consistently engage with consumers through social media.
User personas are a proven tool in the user-centered design process and as social media moves from marketing-focused to value-driven, user personas become an essential way for your designers and strategists to understand the people using your offerings, and to communicate that understanding to your whole team. Join this session to understand the creation and implementation of user personas in the development of a social media strategy.

Slides can destroy. Slides can invigorate. Slides can shape the mood of your audience and bend it at will. Effective communication is a pivotal component of a success. Be it presenting at a user group, assisting with a Sales demo, or simply justifying to your boss the purchase of IDE upgrades, you will give a presentation in your career. But the effectiveness of your presentation is not just about being well-spoken and having a prepared outline; the quality of a slide deck has as much impact on a presentation as the quality of the speaker. Learn to harness this power; use it to tell your story effectively, persuasively, and leave your audience inspired.

There are many of us, the young generation who felt so lost for our future. We have no idea what are we going to do, how we will survive in this competitive world and worst, we don't even know what we really want. This presentation hopes to give a kickstart for those who are pursuing their tertiary study to think about their future and seek for their desire deep down their heart. All the best for all!

"Burn Down the Blocks! Sparking Collaboration Through Creative Play"WebVisions
There’s no shortage of inspirational mantras, but these sayings offer little advice to surmounting departmental silos, generational gulfs, intimidating power distances and other communication roadblocks that stymie creative collaboration in the workplace.
These barriers exist because the roles we play in a team environment provide us with a set of rules for interacting with each other. Ironically, these rules often prevent us from doing the very thing we’ve come together as a team to do: Collaborate!
In this session, Carolyn and Anna will discuss how to break the rules and transform those roadblocks into building blocks… freeing you and your team to live up to the mantra of your choice.
1/ Learn about common communication barriers; why they exist and how they hinder team innovation.
2/ Understand the value of design synthesis as a group activity, and how play is a central component to the co-creation dynamic.
3/ Explore a type of creative team play called a Spark-a-Thon. You’ve probably heard of the hack-a-thon, a fun and popular way to immerse yourself into a problem and solve it with code. What would happen if this format of time-limited, team-oriented creation was applied to design concepting? The answer: The Spark-a-Thon, which leads to bigger ideas and a stronger team problem-solving dynamic.
4/ Gain tips, tricks, and resources, so that you can go run your own Spark-a-Thon. You'll leave armed with some benefits and results you’ll glean from it, too - just in case you need to build an internal business case for it.
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but play is certainly the father. Join us to learn some serious play!

Problem with re-uploading. Previously Slideshare presentations could be edited and replaced. But in October 2017, this option was removed. Slideshare/LinkedIn explained: “We’re always looking for new ways to improve the SlideShare experience for our members. This sometimes means eliminating features to invest in others that offer greater value. As a part of this process, we are removing the ability to re-upload SlideShare files. You will still be able delete your older SlideShare files and upload new presentations. However, once you delete a SlideShare file you will not be able to retain the file URL, or view the file analytics.” What’s particularly irksome is the lack of any warning.
Under language, you can only choose one language (I wish there were a bilingual English-Spanish option for some of my presentations)
Sometimes others post spam as comments. So much spam in the comments. Besides keeping an eye on one’s newsfeed, are there ways to moderate comments?

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
