Spectral and color prediction for arbitrary halftone patterns: a drop-by-drop...Peter Morovic
Accurately previewing the appearance of a print job can make the difference between producing saleable output and wast- ing expensive materials and is a challenge to which a host of solu- tions already exist. However, what the majority of these have in common is that they base their predictions on the inputs to a print- ing system (e.g., continuous-tone data in ink channels) instead of its outputs (i.e., the halftone data that is then printed) and that they are only valid for a given set of choices already made in the print- ing system (e.g., color separation and halftoning). Alternatively, attempting to make appearance predictions using general-purpose models such as Kubelka Munk, Yule Nielsen and Neugebauer re- sults in limited performance on systems whose behavior diverges from these models’ assumptions, such as inkjet printing. As a result of such constraints, the resulting previews either work only under limited conditions or fail to predict some artifacts while erroneous- ly predicting others that do not materialize in print. The approach presented here takes advantage of the flexibility of the HANS framework and the insights into spectral correlation to deliver a print preview solution that can be applied to any printing system, that allows for the variation of fundamental imaging choices with- out the need for re-computing model parameters and that delivers ICC-profile-level accuracy.
Kevin VanHook was my direct manager (boss) we together managed and ran The Marvin Engineering Quality Control department exceeding 50+ personel it was my pleasure working with this man his profesional attitude and approach toward quality and it's role in manufacturing had taught me a great deal about integrity and self worth.

We know that healthy, respectful, and trusting teacher-student relationships nearly double the rate at which a student can learn. While not measured in the same fashion, building rapport and trust among adults has been proven to garner powerful results in businesses and schools/systems alike, and is an essential component in creating a culture of achievement. Using the latest research, this session will identify ways to propel your school, district, or organization towards success by improving your trust and communication skills with your colleagues, direct reports, and supervisors.
1. To whom it may concern:
I am writing this letter to highly recommend Kevin Mastro. During the summers of 2014 and 2015 Kevin held
the position of Call Coordinator at Transfinder Corporation. I had the pleasure of observing Kevin’s positive
influence on our office environment as well as his calm and focused demeanor under pressure.
The Call Coordinator position is responsible for managing the incoming support inquiries and ensuring all
clients are assisted quickly. Kevin held this position during a high growth period for the company and assisted
the Support Services team in completing a record number of inquiries.
Kevin regularly made decisions under pressure in order to appropriately delegate support inquiries to team
members based on severity and skill needed. This required Kevin to utilize a great deal of critical thinking,
forethought, as well as the ability to handle stressful situations. He did this assertively while remaining
professional and respectful.
Kevin quickly grew into a trusted member of the team. Despite having worked at Transfinder Corporation only
a short time, he was looked to by his senior colleagues as a peer.
I was most impressed with Kevin’s ability to remain poised while under a great deal of pressure. Most
technical skills can be taught, but it is the attitude under pressure that Kevin has, that is difficult to come
across.
I am fully confident that Kevin will be as dedicated and professional in any future endeavors, and will find
success in any challenge he chooses to take on. I would be happy to make myself available to discuss Kevin in
more detail.
Sincerely,
Joseph Messia
