I supervised Samantha’s practice on placement as a Bachelor of Nursing student during a
mental healthplacement in2014.
I found Samantha to be a beautifully presented student who was keenly interested in
optimisingherlearningexperience inthisspecialtyarea.
Samantha showed initiative with regards to learning in this environment and was proactive
about reading notes and researching the diagnoses and interventions of the patients in her
care. This was relayed by her supervising colleagues who consistently provided positive
feedbackaboutherenthusiasm andprofessionalism.
On reflection, Samantha advised that it was an invaluable opportunity to gain confidence
and consolidate knowledge with practice in a discipline that has application in any area of
nursing.
I foundSamantha’s practice tobe informed,safe andcompetent.
In summary, I am of the opinion that Samantha has an empathetic, amicable, professional
dispositionwhowaswell likedandrespected byhercolleaguesandpeers.
