Editor's Notes

  • #6 When it first emerged, social media was seen as a fun way to waste time. Now just a few years later, brands and companies are flocking to social media because of the intimate and evolving relationship it provides with current and potential customers.
  • #8 Ecosystem
  • #9 Now lets talk about some of the most popular social networks.
  • #10 Now lets talk about some of these most popular social networks.
  • #11 Content is key!
  • #12 Google #1 search engine
  • #13 Not growing as rapidly as other networks
  • #14 Most engagement, use an average of 11 hashtags per photos. Comment, not just like, to increase engagement.
  • #15 Also great for weddings Men have different interests on Pinterest – more likely to search for technology, humor, cars and gardening.
  • #16 Makes sense teens would love it – don’t get in trouble!
  • #18 Unlike every other network, predominantly male! ****In five years, everything could change….
  • #20 Photo heavy but thoughtful story telling. I didn’t just bake banana bread, but here’s why I baked it (bad day), how I baked it (all natural), and the instructions- how to. What’s making this easier than ever…
  • #21 The reason for this shift to image-heavy is that everyone is a photographer now with their smart phones, and mobile gives us the ability to share instantly. Pew Research: 64% of American adults own a smartphone.
  • #22 It’s not just an American phenomenon. MediaNama provides news and analysis of Internet and Mobile in India, covering Ecommerce, Apps, Funding, Payments, Digital Policy & more.
