Abstract: In this paper, which is essentially a literature review, the researcher undertook a critical investigation into the major predictors and incidence of kidnapping in contemporary Nigeria. The paper further reviewed the various scholars’ and media pundits’ perspectives on kidnapping. Nigeria is in the throes of kidnapping occasioned by a multiplicity of both individual risk factors and social forces. The rising incidence of kidnapping is disturbingly high and destructive to both human and capital development in the country. The current pattern or trend of kidnapping in contemporary Nigeria is a basket case; little wonder therefore that the latest global ranking placed Nigeria as the fourth most notorious kidnapping nation where people can be easily kidnapped with impunity. The quest to settle political differences, inordinate ambition to acquire and accumulate wealth, poverty and social exclusion, perpetual pains of unemployment, and reaction to existing detestable social and political developments are some of the main causes of kidnapping in Nigeria. The central policy implication of this paper is that it will guide security agencies and policy makers on crime and criminality in making reliable policies that will reduce the incidence of kidnapping in Nigeria to the barest minimum.

Na een intensieve aanbestedingsprocedure traden op 1 april van dit jaar enkele grote facilitaire contracten op Luchthaven Schiphol (terminal) in werking, met als hoofdonderdeel de schoonmaakdienstverlening. In de contracten is een belangrijke rol weggelegd voor het Performance Management Model, een nieuw model gebaseerd op vier hoofdpijlers:
- Financiële bedrijfsvoering
- Technische schoonmaakkwaliteit
- Klanttevredenheid (passagiersperceptie en interne klanttevredenheid)
- Collectiviteit
Met name de pijler ‘collectiviteit’ vormt een bijzonder onderdeel in de prestatiemeting: als de schoonmaakbedrijven gezamenlijk in staat zijn te voldoen aan een aantal afgesproken KPI’s, kunnen zij bonustijd verdienen, die kan oplopen tot zes maal zes maanden extra. De aanvankelijke contractduur van vijf jaar kan daarmee verlengd worden tot acht jaar in totaal.

environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the

Routines: Greeting and Praying (2’) -Opening the Lesson: Warm-Up Activity (5’) As we are starting Unit 4 “My Face”, and the previous unit was about “My Body”, we are going to start the lesson with a revision of body parts’ vocabulary. It will be an oral activity with TPR from students in which we will introduce an imperative: e.g: “clap your hands” and students will perform it. -Body of the Lesson (13’) Using a poster with the image of a face on the blackboard we will present the new vocabulary. One of the trainees will make a sentence in which he/she will implicitly use the structure “have got” to describe what part is he/she is referring to, while the other trainee will touch that part. Students will be in charge of evaluating the trainees according to the part that is being touched with the part that is being said. If they are the same, students will clap their hands, if they are not, students will wave their arms. e.g. Alexis: I have got two eyes Aylen: (touches her ears) Students: (waving their arms) Alexis: I have got one mouth Aylen: (touches her mouth) Students: (clapping their hands) Activity nº4. (5’) Students will be given an image of a clown’s face with the parts of the face numbered and the options (eyes, mouth, hair) under it.
