A. Preparatory Activities

2. Review: (Group) 
Identifying the appropriate meaning of the following words as used in the 
selection/ Group presentation of works set (p. 94) turn (p. 93) face (p.92) 
3. Motivation: 
Knowing how wealthy and powerful Mariang Makiling , why did the young 
farmer not make fool of her? In what other way can this kind of sincerity 
and respect be shown at present in dealing with our friends, etc. at 
present?

Re-reading of the selection

____The marriage was arranged and the day of the wedding was set. 
____In the evening of the wedding, when the man was on his way home, Mariang 
Makiling appeared before him and gave him her gifts. 
____Mariang Makiling became attracted to a young farmer. 
____As the days went by, the young man fell in love with a neighbor’s daughter. 
____From then on, Mariang Makiling has not appeared to the country folks.
