I. OBJECTIVES
1. The student will be able to discover the F.O.I.L. method in multiplying two binomial
expressions;
2. The student will be able to solve on how to multiply binomials collaboratively;
3. The student will be able to appreciate the procedure in multiplying binomials.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
A. Topic: Multiplying Binomials
B. Reference: Algebra Book in High School
C. Materials: Worksheets on solving problems; Printed exercises/problems for the board
works; chalk
III. PROCEDURE
A. Attendance Check
B. Opening Prayer
C. Cleaning the classroom
D. Recall of the previous lesson on multiplying monomials
E. Motivation- matching algebraic expressions to solutions and give a prize to
students who will do it correctly.
F. Lesson Proper
1. Activity
 Students will be given a worksheet where they have to solve
exercises on multiplying binomials.
 Students will work on the board the exercises they have just
answered. Allow volunteers or call students to answer and
explain their answers.
 Make a demonstration on board on how to multiply binomials
using the F.O.I.L. method.
2. Analysis
 Questions will be asked to the students and entertain questions
from the students to determine if they are able to assimilate
the subject taught.
 Let the students analyze which method to use in multiplying
polynomials.
3. Abstraction
What are the different ways in multiplying binomials? How are they
applied in multiplying binomials? How do you know what method will be used
in multiplying binomials or polynomials?
4. Application
Divide the class into 2 groups and give each one a problem to solve.
After the collaborative effort in solving the problem, each group will show their
solution on the board and explain how they got the solution.
IV. ASSESSMENT
 Solve the following problems using the two kinds of method:
1. (X2
-y) (2x+4)
V. ASSIGNMENT
KBI: Recognize the importance of knowing the procedures of
multiplying binomials.
Give at least 3 examples of word problems and solutions. Write it in a whole sheet of paper to be
submitted next meeting.
