Date : May 10 th, 2012                                           Level   : 8vo Basico

Activity: Mapping: How to make a mind map? Tips for reinforce our second language learning
Skills: Listening, writing, reading

Expected outcomes: Student will be able to identify the factors affecting the process of Learning a
second language through a reading activity about “mapping” and “how to device a mind map” . Also,
they are going to be able know new vocabulary by the introduction of cognates. Also, they are going to
be able to reflect on the multiple reasons why learning a second language such as English has become so
essential not only in Chile, but also worldwide. Student will be able to distinguish some tips the teacher
provides in order to reinforce their second language learning process e.g. concept like exposition and
Interaction, as well as some other factors affecting this process.

Resources: Worksheets, colour markers, board, dictionary.

                                       Time     Comments:

Introduction :                      15 min      As long as observation and assistance time is over, the
Greetings,                                     prospective teacher introduces some methodological

While –Stage                           40 min Prospective teacher asks students to share a reading
Mapping and“ Mind Maps”                        paper about mapping and how to make a mind map.
                                              Meanwhile students take turns in the
                                              reading, the practitioner introduces new vocabulary from
                                              the text as well as gives chance to rehearse students’
                                              Pronunciation. Once the reading activity has finished,
                                              students are provided by a list of hundred reasons to
                                               mind mapping, they have to read it, and spot between
                                              10 to 20 cognates, and set a list of them along
                                              With their Spanish equivalent.

                                               Meanwhile this activity goes on, practitioner
                                               Device a mind map on the board
                                               About some factors affecting the second language
                                               Process. On it definitions about key concepts such
                                               as language, idiom, communication, learning, acquisition
                                               are provided, as well as some reasons of why Learning
                                               a second language such as English has become so
                                               Important nowadays.
Post- Stage :              20 min Students are asked now to start devising their own mind
                                  maps, choosing themes from a list of subjects, interests,

Closing:                   15 min Practitioner Teacher ask for comments, contribution,

  • 1. Lesson Plan 1 Date : May 10 th, 2012 Level : 8vo Basico Activity: Mapping: How to make a mind map? Tips for reinforce our second language learning Skills: Listening, writing, reading Expected outcomes: Student will be able to identify the factors affecting the process of Learning a second language through a reading activity about “mapping” and “how to device a mind map” . Also, they are going to be able know new vocabulary by the introduction of cognates. Also, they are going to be able to reflect on the multiple reasons why learning a second language such as English has become so essential not only in Chile, but also worldwide. Student will be able to distinguish some tips the teacher provides in order to reinforce their second language learning process e.g. concept like exposition and Interaction, as well as some other factors affecting this process. Resources: Worksheets, colour markers, board, dictionary. Time Comments: Introduction : 15 min As long as observation and assistance time is over, the Greetings, prospective teacher introduces some methodological Roll Calling, procedures related to evaluation, participation, Prospective Teacher introduces some autonomous work, assignments etc. methodological procedures about lessons. While –Stage 40 min Prospective teacher asks students to share a reading Mapping and“ Mind Maps” paper about mapping and how to make a mind map. Meanwhile students take turns in the reading, the practitioner introduces new vocabulary from the text as well as gives chance to rehearse students’ Pronunciation. Once the reading activity has finished, students are provided by a list of hundred reasons to mind mapping, they have to read it, and spot between 10 to 20 cognates, and set a list of them along With their Spanish equivalent. Meanwhile this activity goes on, practitioner Device a mind map on the board About some factors affecting the second language Process. On it definitions about key concepts such as language, idiom, communication, learning, acquisition are provided, as well as some reasons of why Learning a second language such as English has become so Important nowadays.

Post- Stage : 20 min Students are asked now to start devising their own mind maps, choosing themes from a list of subjects, interests, Start devising mind maps topics etc. The work may be done individually or in duos, Practitioner also provided the criteria works are going To be evaluated , and how much this activity scores for The final grade. Dateline also is provided. Closing: 15 min Practitioner Teacher ask for comments, contribution, Doubts, etc. Introducing the following contents to be Students the next session.
