This study explored the under-researched market of yoga tourism by interviewing and surveying yoga retreat participants. The study found that:
1) Yoga tourism has emerged and grown with the trend of "travel to feel well" and can be seen as a subset of wellness tourism.
2) Individuals' involvement level with yoga, physical health, and mental well-being were found to positively contribute to the propensity to travel for yoga purposes.
3) The findings provide empirical evidence that can help tour operators and destinations develop this niche yoga tourism market by tapping into the growing special interest tourism industry.
