LED lighting provides energy efficient and long lasting illumination. LEDs use semiconductor chips to produce white light through blue LEDs coated with phosphor lenses. They are more efficient than incandescent bulbs, using 80% less power and lasting over 10 years. LEDs are increasingly being used for applications like automotive lights, street lights, and horticulture due to their energy savings and long life. Their widespread adoption could reduce India's electricity demand by over 10,000 MW through replacement of incandescent bulbs.
