6. Thigh
Anterior compartment = knee
extensors and some hip flexors;
innervated by femoral nerve, blood
supply by femoral artery and its
branches
7. Thigh
Medial Compartment = hip adductors
(some rotation and flexion); innervated
by obturator nerve and its branch,
blood supply by branches off deep
femoral artery and obturator artery
8. Thigh
Posterior compartment = hip
extensors and knee flexors;
innervated by tibial or common
peroneal nerves, blood supply by
deep femoral artery
13. Anterior Compartment of
Thigh
Adductor Canal:
Contents:
Saphenous nerve:
Termination of femoral nerve.
Nerve to vastus medialis.
Terminal part of obturator nerve.
Terminal parts of femoral artery and
vein.
Deep lymph vessels.
17. Anterior Compartment of
Thigh
Nerve of the Anterior Compartment
of the Thigh
The femoral nerve (L2,L3,L4) supplies
the muscles of the anterior
compartment of the thigh, including
the pectineus muscle. The psoas
muscles receives its nerve supply
from the lumbar plexus.
29. Femoral Triangle
This is a clinically important triangular
subfascial space in the uperomedial one-
third part of the thigh.
The femoral pulse can easily be palpated in
the femoral triangle, 2 to 3 cm inferior to the
midpoint of the inguinal ligament.
The head of the femur lies posterior to the
femoral artery at this site, making compression
of the vessel easy.
