Realize that “teaching” is no
longer adequate.
“Shift the idea of simple teaching
to make sure students learn”.

students an alternative means for
learning what needs to be
acquired by learning.

•A multiple chance educator
(Gardner 1993) is one where
students can access the
information in a variety of ways
that will allow them the
opportunity to play to their
strengths and also work on their
weaknesses.

•As part of being a ‘learning
school’ it is important that we
teach the students how to learn.
•Learning to learn is not a single
discrete skill but rather “a family
of learning practices that enable
learning to happen”.

The learning practices includes:
 Understanding how to learn, taking
into account of one’s preferred
learning styles, and understanding
the need to, and hoe to, manage
one’s own learning throughout life.
 Learning, systematically, to think.

 Exploring and reaching an
understanding of one’s own
creative talents, and how to make
best use of them

learning that are nothing to do with
the teaching”

There are plenty of factors that can interfere
with students’ ability to learn that have got
very little to do with the teacher.

• Absence of adequate light in the
classroom - hazards that fluorescent
lights expose us to: Headache, eyestrein,
fatigue,, increased rate of ‘misjudgements’
and accidents, allergic skin and dermatitis
etc.
• Do our classrooms contain the full light
spectrum that our brains need?

• What is the idea about being outside to
learn under
1. Natural Lighting
2. Full light spectrum
3. Green environment
Possible only in very few occasions and
not a very feasible solution.

•Mixing learning with eating/or drinking – if
we allow students to eat/or drink for
sometime (may be for 10 minutes) will they
become better learner?
•How is the idea of giving a refreshment
break for 10 minutes in a 100 minutes’ class
?

•The sound factor in the class room – Some
people have to have some form of
background noise when they are working to
help them stay focused.
•Others prefers absolute silence to
concentrate on their work.

classroom ventilation could reduce
students’ absence.
