Introduction
In the United States, child abuse is one of the aspects that require a compelling attention from the government, the non-governmental organizations, society, and even individuals. Reports exhibit that nearly six million young people are abused annually. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified the aspect to be one of the serious problems that the United States is facing, and for this reason, a compelling remedy is required. It is perceived that there is a probability that a child who undergoes physical and psychological abuse is prone to abuse his or her children when he or she becomes an adult (Starr & Wolfe, 1991). According to the United States Bureau of Health and Human Services, it is essential for parents and guardians to ensure that children are not abused in the society.
Statement of the Problem
The impacts of child abuse from early stages through adulthood have been examined for many years. Child abuse is a very regular practice in the United States with more than six million kids influenced each year (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2014). It is thought to be a serious issue, particularly as the cycle of abuse proceeds since approximately 30% of abusing and disregarded kids will later abuse their own kids (U.S. Bureau of Health and Human Services [HSS], 2013). The effects of abuse on the child using Erikson's hypothesis of psychosocial improvement, the resulting impacts of the abuse on developing grown-ups, and treatment systems, which have turned out to be of help when working with customers who have experienced childhood abuse. It has got several effects on the development and the growth of children later in life (Kelley, Bravo, Braitman, Lawless, & Lawrence, 2016). It is due to this situation that this study will seek to find the impacts of Child Abuse on Growth and Development.
Objective of the study:

1) How do child abuses influence growth and development of a child?
2) To what extent do child abuses affect the growth and development of a child?
3) Do child abuse influence or determine a person’s behavior at adulthood?

Optimizing Brain Development
The first few years of a child’s life are critical for healthy brain development. Brain development begins during the prenatal period and continues through early childhood. Although the brain continues to develop into adulthood, the first eight years builds the foundation for learning and success (CDC, 2021). Brain development depends on many factors such as, prenatal care, experiences, and exposures to toxins and infections. “Nurturing and responsive care for the child’s body and mind is the key to supporting healthy brain development” (CDC, 2021). Positive and negative experiences help shape a child’s brain.
How the brain grows is highly affected by the child’/ s experiences with people and the world. Children depend on interactions with parents and their caregivers to be responsive to their needs. Children thrive in environments where they can explore and play in a safe environment. Their needs ought to be met and not neglected. They do not need to be exposed to stress. As a parent and/or caregiver to support healthy brain development you can constantly talk to the child, read to your child, meet their needs, and offer them a safe place to explore and play. Speaking and reading to children increase their language and communication skills. “Nurturing a child by understanding their needs and responding sensitively helps to protect children’s brains from stress” (CDC, 2021). Exposure to stress can negatively affect brain development. When children are at risk, it can cause them a delay in accomplishing developmental milestones. They will distrust people if their needs are not constantly being met.
This topic is important to me because in the school that I work at we have a high population of students who needs are not being met. When they get into the classroom, before I can teach them anything I have to meet their needs whether it be feeding them or giving them extra attention. I have even gone as far to buy clothes and shoes for students. This affected the students’ learning. They were usually the ones that were below grade level in the classroom. When having conversations with the parents, they want better for their children but did have the resources or just did not know.
I will need support from pediatricians, early childhood educators, and counselors to help inform parents and caregivers about the importance of brain development and optimizing brain development.

The Role of Culture in Childrearing
Culture, representing what each individual has learned through his or her unique process of socialization, influences our theories of childrearing. Decisions about whether a 3-month-old should be allowed to "cry it out" or be picked up and soothed; when it is appropriate to begin toilet training; and where a child should sleep at night are all influenced, in part, by each individual's beliefs. Understanding your own beliefs regarding childrearing and those of the families with whom you work is vital but only the beginning. Early childhood professionals must also be aware of how these beliefs may complement or contradict one another, and the related implications of both.
For this week's Discussion, you will have the opportunity to explore the potential influence and impact of culture on childrearing practices, and discuss the relevance of developing "cultural competency" as a tool supporting infant/toddler mental health.

Caregivers of children’s with neuro-developmental disorders face challenges starting from resistance and denial, and such challenges may be likely to impact their Well-being. The present study explores the relations between spiritual well-being and parenting stress when parents faced with a crisis like caring for children with neurodevelopmental disorders. A convenient sample of 38 parents who reared 3 to 12-year-old children diagnosed with neurodevelopmental issues was part of the study. Parental Stress Index -Short Form (PSI/SF; Abidin, 1995) and the Spiritual Well-Being Scale (SWBS; Ellison & Paloutzian, 2009) were used to obtain a measure of the variables chosen. Pearson’s correlation coefficient was used to find out the significance of relations between spiritual well-being and parenting stress. Also, thesignificance of themean difference between the gender groups in relation tospiritual well-being and parenting stress was analysed using Independent Sample‘t’ test. Findings reveal a significant negative correlation between spiritual wellbeing and parenting stress, and it also shows that there is no gender difference in relation to parenting stress and spiritual well-being among parents. The findings indicate that spiritual wellbeing might act as a buffer of parental stress and can play the role of a protective factor against parenting stress for life challenges. The Big Five theory of personality traits is described as extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness.

Extraversion: Includes characteristics such as enthusiasm, sociability, dominance, talkativeness and energetic. It also refers to people that is shy, submissive and quite as an extrovert.

Agreeableness is individuals who are friendly, warm, trusting and cooperative. On the other hand, individuals who are low on this component are usually cold, confrontational and unkind.

Conscientiousness: dimension includes people who are dependable, courteous, persistent, and responsible and organize. It also characterizes some people as being impulsive, these individuals tend to be careless, undependable and antisocial.

Neuroticism: Are individuals, who are emotional instability, they tend to be nervous, moody, sad and anxious. While emotionally sound individuals are usually calm and contented.

Openness this trait highlight characteristics such as imagination, insightful, witty, original and artistic. Individuals who are low on openness tend to be shallow and plain (Friedman& Schustack, 2012).
The limitation of the Big Five theory is it cannot accurately predict any particular behavior for the simple fact that, human behavior is formed on many different factors, not only personality. The model is also limited by its extensive Universalism doctrines. For instance, when we think of a person, one must consider all facets such as
religious beliefs, and philosophical concepts with universal application. The Big Five does not give us a better understanding of gender, culture, age, or personality expressions.
Friedman& Schustack (2012) suggest that, “One has to be careful when using the big five personality trait because it can underestimate some avenue of other parts of our personality and the role in a social situation. It sometimes fails to notice personal situation or even the fact that basic dimensions do a better job in describing some person than others (Friedman& Schustack, 2012, p. 275)

Just as health care organizations are going to be forced to learn, change, and constantly reinvent themselves in the twenty-first century, so will increasing numbers of individuals. So what are the habits of life long learners? There is no single formula, and individuals accomplish it through varying paths, often with more than one major career change. However, if I had to identify the five most important characteristics of life long learners, it would be the following:

: Willingness to push oneself out of comfort zones

Humble self-reflection:
Honest assessment of successes and failures, especially the latter.

: Aggressive collection of information and ideas from others

Careful listening
: Propensity to listen to others

The beauty is that that listening with an open mind, trying new things, or reflecting honestly on successes and failures do not require a high IQ, a Ph.D., or a privileged background. But beware of the simplicity of these habits. There is a major reason why so few individuals develop them -- in the short term, its painful. Risk taking brings failure as well as success. Honest reflection, listening solicitation of opinions, and openness bring bad news and negative feedback as well as interesting ideas. In the short term, life is generally more pleasant without failure and negative feedback.
Effective lifelong learners overcome a natural human tendency to shy away from or abandon habits that produce short-term pain. By surviving difficult experiences, they build up certain immunity to hardship. With clarity of thought, they come to realize the importance of both these habits and lifelong learning. But most of all, their goals and aspirations facilitate the development of humility, openness, willingness to take risks, and the capacity to listen..

A month later J. R. contacted a lawyer who requested her medical records. After the third request to the medical records department was unsuccessful, the lawyer requested a subpoena for the medical records. An unidentified woman representing the hospital left a detailed message of the specifics of the subpoena and the status of the release of the medical record on the lawyer’s office voice mail. A week later, finally J. R.’s medical records arrived at her lawyer’s office. The education checklist was found after a thorough review of the medical record. The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.
