Class have you visited a poultry house?
So, Aside from the chickens that you can see in the poultry
house.What are the other things that you can see?
Okay very good! I can see that you already had the basic
knowledge about the lesson for today.
So to properly start my lesson, I prepared a PowerPoint
presentation about the equipment and facilities in poultry
production, I’ll flash the different Images one at a time
together with its definition and uses.

Equipment and facilities in poultry production
DrinkingTrough
Drinking Jars should be large and sufficient enough to supply the
water needs of the birds for the whole day.
FeedingTrough
These should be constructed so as to keep hens from scratching the
feeds and wasting it especially when the birds are laying eggs.
Dropping Board
These fixtures should be provided in the laying house to facilitate
collection of manure.
So if a farmer will not provide dropping board for his/her chicks what
do you think will happen?
Ok, very good, it only says that dropping board is really important in
having a healthy environment when you are managing a poultry
house.
Perches
These are horizontal poles where birds can sit and rest especially
during night time. Sufficient perches should be constructed to
prevent the birds from crowding at night.
Probably the area will be messy and the
smell of uncollected manure can attract
flies as the day passed by.

7. Feed Bins
These are containers where feeds are stored for future use,
Feeds can also be kept in the petroleum cans which are cheap,
rat proof, and if painted, will last longer.
Incubator
An apparatus in which egg are hatch artificially.
Do you have any idea about important factors in incubation?
When incubating any bird egg it is important to control the
same factors of temperature, humidity, ventilation, and egg
turning.
Does it affect the development of the egg?
Very good.
Nest
A nest could be either open or close. The nest should be built
on a partition or end walls. It should be high enough above
floor so that hens can work under them.
What do you think the purpose of nest class?
Okay very good. A properly built nest assures that eggs are
kept in a good environment for collection or hatching.

Yes ma’am/sir, considering the factors in
egg incubation will result to proper
growth of embryo inside of egg.
The purpose of chicken nest is to
encourage hens to lay their eggs in a
clean cubicle in relative peace and
privacy.

8. Brooder
A brooder is a heated container that can have its
temperature controlled in at least one area. it is
used to confine chicks with their feed and water
until they are 2 weeks old and ready to go outside.
Does brooder necessarily need to use to chicks?
Yes that’s correct but, If home temperatures range
around 75 degrees, you won't need a heat lamp
past week four.

How to play
The teacher will choose an equipment or facilities in the
poultry production to be used in the game. Then draw
this on the virtual whiteboard. As you draw. The student
must guess what it is and its uses.
To make the game more challenging, you can set a
timer for one minute, The teacher and student can also
switch roles to have the student draw the pictures and
the teacher will guess.
This game offers a fun way of learning the lesson.
