Poultry equipments refer to the structures other than houses or shelters used
in feeding, watering and caring for poultry. For providing scientific
management facilities to poultry requires various equipments like
incubators, brooders, feeders, waterers, trap nests, chick guards, catching
equipments, shifting crates etc.

It should have proper design and easy to handle
It should be easy to clean and disinfect.
It should be long lasting and non-corrosive or non-rusting.
It should be suitable for efficient system of rearing.

3. INCUBATOR
This is an instrument used in hatching eggs. Egg hatchery with an incubator can be
described as a means of hatching of eggs in an unnatural way.
1.Forced-draft incubators -maintain more
consistent temperature and humidity levels
throughout the incubator, and recover
temperature and humidity to regulated
levels faster when doors are opened during
the incubation period.
2.Still air incubators- they are
incubators without a fan. The heat usually
comes from above, which means the top
portion of the incubator gets much hotter
than where the eggs are. The temperature
often needs to be set over 100°F (101-

6. Chick sexing machine / equipment

no longer available and spare parts cannot be obtained. The Keeler Optical
(English) or Chicktester(Japanese) machine features a blunt-ended telescopic
tube, containing a light. The sexer inserts the tube into the evacuated cloaca and
with the help of the light can identify either testis or ovaries.

laying. It has a roll away egg tray attached to it so that when eggs are layed,
they roll away and the birds will not trample on the eggs. This particular

14. Weighing settle
A balance is a necessary requirement for weighing feed, birds at market etc.
Now a-days, balance with a digital display to the nearest gram is available at
reasonable rates. If a farmer wishes to sell broilers on retail, a 5 kg or 1 kg
balance is sufficient . If birds are sold wholesale, a spring balance with a
sensitivity of 100 or25 g is desirable.

19. Sprayers
Sprayers are used for disinfection of building,birds, men, material and surrounding
areas, as and when required. Several types of sprayers are available in the
market.But, sprayers which are hand-operated and can be carried on the backwhile
in use is most ideal for a poultry farm. The desired disinfectant or sanitizer canbe
mixed and loaded on to the tank and sprayed as required
