A student completed a physics lab assignment involving the interpretation of a displacement-time graph. The graph showed the displacement of a medium over time. The student was asked to classify the velocity at 7 labelled points on the graph as positive, zero, or negative. They correctly identified points A and D as having zero velocity, and points E and F as having positive velocity, and points B, C, and G as having negative velocity. In their explanation, the student notes that velocity can be determined from the tangent line at each point, and whether the slope k of the line is positive, zero, or negative indicates whether the velocity is positive, zero, or negative respectively.
