- Get started by establishing clear expectations on both sides.
- There has been an increase in virtual school enrollments over time, especially during the 2010-2011 school year. In the Spring of 2010, Hays CISD joined the TxVSN network which provided access to a larger course catalog for online courses. Beginning in the Fall Semester of 2010, all courses were tuition free (TxVSN & Hays Virtual School) which also contributed to the growth. Currently, we have 160 students enrolled in online classes for the Spring 2011 semester, although they have not earned credit yet. Typically, the summer semester is the semester with the highest enrollment. If this trend continues, we are expecting enrollment this summer to be at an all time high.
- The district wide success rate for the Fall 2010 semester was 88%. Specifically, out of 91 students enrolled in a virtual school course, 80 students passed. Classes that are most popular: DP, Health, US Government, Eco, Math New classes this year for us: It’s important to study this information and analyze why students pass, why they fail.
