Leadership Vs Management Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricate subject of "Leadership Vs Management" poses a substantial
challenge. The complexity lies not only in the necessity to differentiate between these two
concepts but also in understanding their nuanced interplay within various organizational
contexts. The task involves delving into the realms of psychology, sociology, and business theory
to unravel the distinct characteristics of leaders and managers.
Navigating through the extensive literature on leadership and management theories requires a
comprehensive grasp of historical perspectives, contemporary models, and evolving trends.
Analyzing case studies and real-world examples is imperative to illustrate the practical
implications of these concepts. Moreover, one must critically evaluate the contrasting roles,
skills, and behaviors associated with effective leadership and management, emphasizing the
importance of both in achieving organizational success.
Addressing the ongoing debate regarding whether leadership and management are mutually
exclusive or can coexist harmoniously adds an additional layer of complexity. Striking the right
balance between these two elements demands a deep understanding of organizational dynamics
and the ability to synthesize divergent viewpoints.
The task also involves the challenge of presenting a coherent and compelling argument while
avoiding oversimplification. Acknowledging the evolving nature of leadership and management
in the contemporary landscape is crucial, as is recognizing the influence of cultural,
technological, and global factors on these dynamics.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of "Leadership Vs Management" demands a
multifaceted approach, requiring a synthesis of theoretical frameworks, practical examples, and
critical analysis. It necessitates a careful exploration of the intricate relationship between these
two concepts and an understanding of their implications in diverse organizational settings. The
challenge lies not only in the depth of research and analysis but also in articulating a nuanced
perspective that contributes meaningfully to the ongoing discourse on effective leadership and
management.

Rudy at Auschwitz
Rudy at Auschwitz Rudy and his family stayed in the Ileresiendstadt ghetto for
almost two years. Then in 1944, they were told to prepare to move. In the selection
below, Rudy describes what happened next. In March or April, 1944, we got the
dreaded notice that we had been selected for resettlement farther east. The train
cars they took us in were actually cattle cars. We entered the cars and sat on our
baggage. There was not very much room between us and the roof of the cattle car.
Our car had from 80 to 100 people in it so it was quite crowded. We were sifting
tight on tight. We had some water and some food but no comfort whatsoever. The
cars were sealed. We could not open them from the inside. The w indows were small,

The mattress was just burlap filled with straw. We had not eaten at that time, and
we were not to get anything to eat until the next morning. The Daily Routine at
Auschwitz In the morning we got metal cups and spoons. We were each given two
slices of bread and sometimes a pat of margarine or a little bit of marmalade. The
coffee was toasted acorns ground up. It tasted terrible. The midday meal was
potato soup with maybe a li ttle bit of meat. Potatoes were the main ingredient and
the kind of beets you normally feed to cattle. We were already hungry in the
Theresienstadt ghetto because we did not get enough to eat. In Auschwitz we
were beginning to starve. In the evening we go t another slice of bread, some
coffee, no marmalade, no butter, no nothing. Every morning we had the counting
of the prisoners. We were arranged in groups of five with just small distances
between us. The SS trooper would come by and start counting one, two, three, four,
five. If he miscounted, he went over it again. Sometimes we stood there two hours.
I kept wondering why none of us tried to overpower this lone guard who had just a
small pistol. But what could we have done? There were guardposts on either end
and high tension wires in between. We would all have been killed. We did not know
that Auschwitz was an extermination camp or that we could be put to death. We did
know that there was always this sickly sweet smell in the air. We saw a large
chimney belching smoke 24 hours a

Swot Analysis Of Alibuba In China
Introduction:
In the year 2016, an e commerce giant held a one day sales bonanza that outsold
Black Friday and Cyber Monday at all US retailers combined. It was not Amazon s
Prime Day; it was Chinese e commerce company Alibaba s Singles Day Holiday, in
November of 2016, where approximately $17.8 billion worth of goods were sold,
according to Business Insider (http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon prime day vs
alibaba singles day 2017 7). Alibaba, founded in 1999 by Jack Ma to connect
Chinese manufacturers to buyers, has grown into an e commerce giant with a
portfolio of innovative smaller companies working within it. However, the fact that a
vast majority of their revenue is generated in China (83% of their revenue from

This is partially motivated by Ma s acknowledgement that the Chinese economy is
slowing and that the company s explosive gains in revenue and user additions in
China have slowed. While the Chinese market may still have some growth potential,
reaching these massive goals will require global expansion to new markets. The US
has a population of well over 300 million, and according to Pew Research, in the year
2015, 84% of American adults used the internet regularly (http://www.pewinternet.org

restricted internet. Thus, Alibaba would be wise to expand into this country full of
technologically active potential users. Relatedly, American firms Amazon and eBay
both once sought a greater share in the Chinese e commerce Market. Examining these
companies provides an interesting lens for Alibaba s potential expansion into the
United States, as these companies faced a similar culture shock between China and the
US. eBay attempted this entry in 2004, but failed due not comprehending the needs
and wants of Chinese consumers (http://onlinelibrary wiley com.uml.idm.oclc.org/doi

its share of the Chinese e commerce market has hovered down around 1.5%. Both

Diversification And Diversification Into The New Markets...
Diversification is entering the new markets with new products and different from
those in which the firm is currently engaged in. It is helpful to divide diversification
into related diversification and unrelated diversification. Related diversification is
when a business adds or expands its existing product markets. The companystarts
manufacturing a new product or through new marketrelated to its business activity.
For example, a phone company that adds or expands its wireless products or services
by purchasing another wireless company is engaging in related diversification. Under
related diversification, companies want to make easier the consumption of its
products by producing complementing goods or offering complementing services. In
a related diversification the resulting combined business should able to improve
return on investment (ROI) because of increased revenues, decrease costs and
reduced investment.

One commonly found resource that is exportable is a strong established brand name
like Coca Cola, Microsoft, Pepsi, BMW and others. For example, Coca Cola spent
$4.1 billion to acquire Glaceau, includes its health drink brand Vitaminwater in 2007.
b)Marketing skills
Usually a firm will lack a strong skill in marketing for a particular market. The
frequent motive to diversify is to export or import a marketing talent. For these cases,
Coca Cola s marketing skills are used to be to bring the plight of polar bears closer to
Beam Hammer Essay
DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF BEAM HAMMER
Abstract
Beam hammer is a device which works on the principle of beam engine or
inversion of four bar mechanism. Cast iron plates are used to construct the rigid
beam engine mechanism which is one of the applications of four bar chain. The
wooden bed is used to absorb the vibrations caused while operating the system. Nuts
and bolts are made up of carbon steel which is capable of withstand deformation while
reciprocating motion takes place. The hammer and the work rest are made up of mild
steel because while hammer hitting the work piece deformation occurs both in the
hammer and the work rest. To prevent the deformation, the mild steel is chosen in our
project. When the crank is rotated, according to the beam engine mechanism it is
converted into reciprocating motion on the other side through inversion of four bar
mechanism, is achieved a prescribed hammering action on the cast iron work piece.
1. Introduction
1.1 Beam Engine Mechanism
It is based on four bar chain mechanism. The function of the mechanism is to convert
the rotary motion of the crank into reciprocating motion [1]. In this mechanism, when
the crank AB rotates about the fixed centre A, the lever CDE oscillates about the
centre D and the end of the lever E is connected to a piston rod which reciprocates in
the cylinder as shown in Figure 1.
Rigid material is used to withstand deformation and vibration caused by the lever for
designing the beam of the mechanism [7].

Resource planning is less convoluted when we can isolate it into these smaller

In contrast to this Whitman s outlook to a storm is one that suggests that he wants
the reader to be aware of the threatening and aggressive nature of a storm,
Waves, air, midnight, their savagest trinity lashing . In my opinion this line sums up
everything about Whitman s attitude to the storm. In spite of the fact that each poet s
feelings towards the storm are primarily different there are subtle similarities in their
thoughts about the storm. From a personal standpoint I believe that there is a
underlying feeling that both poets share, this is that they both accept and
acknowledge that man cannot combat the power of nature and that all humans are
condemned to the fact that all we can do is find the best means to adapt to natures
elements.
With regards to the structure of each poem, Whitman s Patrolling
Barnegat is a sonnet despite the fact that it doesn t abide by all the rules associated
with sonnets. Heaney s Storm on the Island is a blank verse poem with 10 syllables
in each line.
The tone and rhythm of each poem reflects the poet s own personal preference on
how they wished to write and construct their own poem, unsurprisingly the tone and
rhythm of each poem is uniquely different.
The rhythm of Storm on the Island is one that flows steady in a controlled manner
and the tone compliments this as it is written in a laid back relaxed style. This
relaxed tone gives me
Government Vs Government Essay
How does learning about government and our America help you become a future
guardian of the liberties of our country. In our world we talk about our government
and America being better. Yet, there is more to it than just the government itself.
We as citizens hold up the responsibility of being the guardians of our country s
liberties. It s not about just being a citizen alone but, being able to realize the
opportunities that we have in laws themselves. Court of law, immigrants earning
their citizenship, and our military system are all topics that will be covered in this
essay. First, we have our court of law. This is meaning that you have many rights
in the court room itself such as, the right to remain silent. In our case we the
people are given these right to give us our chances to prove ourselves innocent. If
we choose we can have a lawyer given to us to help. In a court room it s also know to

versa. Women are usually seen in the medical portion of the military because we
have that motherly instinct that men don t have. There has been a lot of
controversy about this but women are equally as strong men and I m going to prove
that as being a future guardian in protecting our liberties. In conclusion, each and
everyone of us have the rights of everybody else. We just need to realize that even
though it may seem unfair in cases, we are the future of America. We will determine
the faith and with this we need to protect what is right. Our liberties are the most
important part that. Being in the court of law, being an immigrant earning their

Nostalgia
Nostalgia is defined as a wistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a former
time in one s life, to one s home or homeland, or to one s family and friends; a
sentimental yearning for the happiness of a former place or time. (Dictionary.com)
Nostalgia is often caused by something prompting the individual of an event or detail
from their past. In theory, nostalgia is a wonderful experience of reminiscing on
memories in the past, but every so often nostalgia can have negative effects on one s
mindset. The result of these feelings and emotions can range through many different
things, from happiness, to sorrow, to anger. In The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Mohsin
Hamid suggests that in difficult times in people s lives, nostalgia happens, and can
evoke different emotions in people.
First, we see a sense of nostalgia in chapter six of the novel, when Changez says,
The destruction of the World Trade Centre had, as she had said, churned up old
thoughts that had settled in the manner of sediment to the bottom of a pond; now the
waters of her mind were murky with what previously had been ignored. I did not
know if the same was true of me. In this instance, Changez and Erica are having a
conversation post 9/11 terrorist attacks. The nostalgia that took place in this passage
makes the reader see the two thoughts that the characters have about this incident.
The way that the passage ends with Changez

Wayde V New South Wales Rugby League Case Study
Wayde v New South Wales Rugby League [1985] Critical reflection Reading the
Wayde V South wales rugby league (NSWRL) case, it looks at the board of
directors refusing a western suburbs club from entering the premiership league. The
reduction from 14 to 12 leagues was because of incorporation and the long season
and less recovery time between matches for players, and more leagues was a burden.
Less leagues and shorter season was seen by the directors as a better option for the
premiership. While the courts acknowledged that the exclusion was discriminatory
towards the club, it was in the NSWR s constitution (under cl.46 (1)), that the
NSWRL had the power to regulate which clubs would play in the premiership. Thus,
the court determined that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just a few years ago sport was considered a leisure activity, which Anderson calls
the feudal era (Anderson 2009) where sport was seen as a community activity.
Today we see sports become a legitimate business, with major profits to be made.
This is interesting to me as I would imagine just a few years ago sports and law
were not seen as close entities. But as the case above shows that sports and law are
becoming important and a legitimate area of policy and study, which became
known as sports and the law. The case above looks at shareholder oppression,
which looks at if the shareholders are using their powers fairly and not oppressing
minority groups. It is fascinating to think that this concept was only linked to
businesses, but now is a legitimate consideration of sports such as rugby. Contracts
and constitutions are a normal part of sports dealings today, and interesting law
aspects arise such as shareholder oppression. Directors can be taken to court if it is
seen that they are stopping a minority group from participating in sport and a chance

Ee Cummings Poetry
Despite Cummings affinity for avant garde styles, much of his work is traditional.
Many of his poems are sonnets, and he occasionally made use of the blues form and
acrostics. Cummings poetry often deals with themes of love and nature, as well as
the relationship of the individual to the masses and to the world. His poems are also
often rife with satire.
While his poetic forms, and even themes, show a close continuity with the romantic
tradition, his work universally shows a particular idiosyncrasy of syntax, or way of
arranging individual words into larger phrases and sentences. Many of his most
striking poems do not involve any typographical or punctuational innovations at all,
but purely syntactic ones.
As well as being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, a number of Cummings poems feature, in part or in whole, intentional
misspellings; several feature phonetic spellings intended to represent particular
dialects. Cummings also made use of inventive formations of compound words, as in
in Just , which features words such as mud luscious and puddle wonderful .
Many of Cummings poems address social issues and satirize society (see why must
itself up every of a park , above), but have an equal or even stronger bias toward
romanticism: time and again his poems celebrate love, sex and the season of rebirth
(see anyone lived in a pretty how town in its entirety).
His talent extended to children s books, novels, and painting. A notable example of
his versatility is an introduction he wrote for a collection of the comic strip Krazy Kat.
Examples of Cummings unorthodox typographical style can be seen in his poems the

past the surface of the industrial revolution, in regards to the promise of great wealth,
this promise was not kept, along with other issues. I believe that a better life would
mean that people would not have to go through the same struggles they once did
before the revolution, struggles such as not having a job, money, home, etc. In
addition, a better life would have to be permanent for it to truly make a difference.
Unfortunately, the industrial revolutiondid not do as much good as people perceived
it to have done. Essentially, a revolution is a changing in social order, and although
this did happen, the people effected who were a part of it were given almost the
exact opposite of what they expected. This essay will explore the conditions workers
endured during the revolution, and discuss whether the revolution gave a better life,
or a worse one. The Rules of a Factoryin Berlin depicts just that. However, these
rules were, in some cases, much stricter and excessive than what I would usually
consider normal rules for such a work environment. For example, one rule states All
conversation with fellow workers is prohibited (p.313). In addition to not speaking
while working, almost each rule if disobeyed will be fined. Workers arriving 2
minutes late shall lose half an hour s wage (p.312),
Sexual Despotism In Susanna s Seven Husband By Ruskin
Bond
Ruskin Bond, rightly observed as Wordsworth of India, has made eminent
contribution to Indian writing in English. His works, sophisticated yet simple, convey
a large and complex meaning inherent in Indian life and culture. Prominently
recognized for his treatment of nature, children and childhood in his notable works,
Bond also established himself as an illustrious promoter of feminism. Under the wrap
of dark comedy, he gracefully touches on the subject of sexual despotism and
repression meted out towards women. In Susanna s Seven Husbands, he ruthlessly
brings out the subjugation that a womanfaces in a prejudiced society by subverting the
established norms of system and institution regarding the general perception of
women s place in society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nunavut in CanadaВґs Northen Territory Essay
April 1st, 1999 a new territory was created when new boundaries were drawn in
Canada s northern territory, the Northwest Territories. The Inuik people that lived in
the Northwest Territories were the reason behind the motivation for the separation.
After a long hard process, filled with agreements and disagreements, Nunavutwas
finally declared its own territory and was separated from the Northwest Territories.
Nunavut, which in Inuktitut means Our Land , was the first significant change to the
map of Canada since Newfound land and Labrador joined confederation in 1949.
The idea of separating the Northwest Territories to create a new territory dates back
to the 1950 s. The non aboriginals of the Northwest Territories in the Mackenzie...

In December 1991 the federal government reached an agreement with the Inuit on
their land claims, with the Parker line set as the boundary between the existing
province and the new one. February 1992, executive council set May 4 as the date
for the Northwest Territories to vote on the proposed boundary that was known as
the Parker Line . This was approved in a referendum in late May. That same year
later in November, the Inuit approved the Nunavut final land claim agreement.
November 3rd to 6th, 85 per cent of Inuit beneficiaries voted to accept the terms of
the proposed Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. The agreement was signed by Paul
Quassa of the Tungavik Federation of Nunavut in Iquilat on May 25th, 1993, with
Priminister Brian Mulroney and the Northwest Territories government leader, Nellie

the history of aboriginal self governance.

Lieutenant Selfridge s Short Story
On September 17, 1908, Lieutenant Selfridge was getting ready to ride the
Military Flyer. Later on in the day, Orville got the passenger of his plane from the
ride off and saw Selfridge waiting for his turn to ride the plane. Wilbur was by the
side of the plane, holding the wing down. He had looked at Selfridge anxiously and

the plane with Selfridge sitting next to him. The catapult had released and the plane
had shot off into the air. They were up gliding through the air. But suddenly the
propeller had broken in half. Then the whole plan began to shake hard. The plane had
its nose down toward earth and it plunged through the air. Lieutenant was hanging

definitions of the risk management plan objectives are clear from the start, so that the

The Information Technology (IT) Security Certification and Accreditation (C A)

Current Study Extensive study has been done in the field of education regarding both
learning styles and multiple intelligences. Several have even investigated the use of a
multiple intelligences awareness when conducting psychotherapy. These studies,
however, did not focus on a client s specific intelligence, instead they looked at
therapy that involved using many of the intelligences without regard to the
individual intelligence profile. In the researcher s review of existing literature on
therapy and multiple intelligences theory, however, no studies were found to have
focused on the relationship between specific modes of therapy and individual

anything to do with that individual s learning style or higher level of intelligence in
one area over another? Specifically, is there a theory that
Moral Rights In Trifles
Susan Glaspell s Trifles : Shifting Views Between What is Morally Right and
Legally Right Susan Glaspell presents a play Trifles showing that in some
situations people may be forced to change or even conform to some ideas which they
consider moral as opposed to legal in the eyes of law. Should people choose what is
morally right over what is legally right? In Susan Glaspell s Trifles the issue of
morality and law is clearly illustrated and will focus on the factors that make Mrs.
Peters shift her views at various points in the story. Mrs. Peters continually seems
to change her mind over her legal and moral views as she is swayed to support
morality or legality as a result of her sympathy towards Mrs. Wright who seems to

Wright life of isolation and abuse is a factor that makes Mrs. Peters shift her
judgment from supporting the course of law that would stipulate the conviction of
the suspect Mrs. Wright. Mrs. Hale who is with Mrs. Peters speaks on how her
neighbor Mrs. Wright was living every day sad and isolated by saying Not having
children makes less work but it makes a quiet house, and Wright out to work all
day, and no company when he did come in (1079). In fact, Mrs. Hale later express
her guilt for not visiting the isolated Mrs. Wright I wish I had come over

Mrs. Hale tells about Minnie Foster before she married, we also see in Russell
Glaspell s Trifles Mrs. Hale subtly suggests that Mrs. Wright is not the sole agent in

The Journey Of My Life
My Marker Moments This paper will detail the journeys of my life that lead to my
marker moments. Each marker was born out of a circumstance or ah ha moment. A
moment that opened my mind and heart and branched out towards the path of
leadership in my life. There are three that I will speak about for the purpose of this
paper although there are many more. The three that stand out the most are my first

order. Jamaica It was the year of nineteen ninety eight and I was 40 years old. I had
never been to Jamaica, although most of my nieces and nephews were half
Jamaican and half American, and I was very familiar with the Jamaican culture. I
enjoyed their food, I danced to their music and by the time my trip came around I
was more than anxious to visit the country to experience some of the authentic
expressions of the country. I was to be there on vacation for three weeks, giving
enough time to explore the Island.
I received a lot of instructions about the country, what I should and should not do,
and although I was warned about the extreme poverty that I would see in Jamaica,
it still did not prepare me for the site of it. I was also taken aback by the small
children in the middle of the streets selling chicklets for a few pennies. No, I was not
prepared to handle the begging and the overwhelming cry for help amongst the
islanders.
One day, my friend whom I was visiting, decided to go to Ocho Rios,
Visual Illusions Are A Phenomena That Arise From...
Visual illusions are a phenomena that arise from misperception of the observed
object s properties. Visual illusions allow us to study the difference between the
objective reality and our interpretation of the perceived visual stimuli or the way our
brains process visual information, in order to develop a general understanding of
our visual system (Carrasco, 1986); In spite of the relevance of this issue, general
concensus is yet to be reached on the origin of such phenomena
One representation is the Muller Lyer (1889) Illusion (MLI), a geometric size illusion
classically represented by modified perception of the length of a line, influenced by
arrowheads or arrowtails on its endpoints (Zeman et al, 2014). The MLI has been
widely used attempting to explain the underlying mechanism behind geometrical
illusions; Gregory (1966) attributed the illusion to the misapplied size constancy
scaling influenced by depth cues; Carrasco (1986), argued that visual channels are
orientation and spatial frequency specific after presenting the MLI to eight
participants and observing a reduction on the illusion after exposure to a low spatial
frequency grid. Although evidence questioning this claim has been presented in many
studies (Carlson, Moeller, Anderson, 1984) (GarcГa Garibay De Lafuente, 2015)
(Zeman et al, 2014) (Zeman A. , Obst, Brooks, Rich, 2013) where the illusion
persists in images absent of low spatial frequencies and has been assessed with the

Bear Mccreary Monologue
Hey, everyone! Just got back from watching The Walking Dead s Season 7 Episode
2 and I have to say, it has a good feel to it. But before that, let s start at the
beginning. So for those who haven t seen the newest and latest episode of TWD,
beware as this contains spoilers. Really. Anyway, yeah.
Okay, so first we see the recap from when we last saw Carol and Morgan with the
former badly injured because of a savior (I think) and the latter facing two men with
horses and body armors looking bad ass as heck. Then comes the well known and
loved masterpiece of Bear McCreary which is also known as The Walking Dead
theme song. Also, quick fact that I m not even sure is quite precise but to heck with
it: McCreary wanted to compose something that when we hear it, TWD almost
immediately comes to mind. And indeed, it has. Kudos to Bear McCreary!
Now, going back, we see Carol laid unto something, a somewhat wheelbarrow like
carriage that is being dragged by a horse when suddenly, I don t know. Sorry! Bad at
storytelling but we re now in Carol s temporary POV and we see the badasses and
Morgan fighting. She looks in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

like Carol :) I have great hopes for this new chapter in Carol and Morgan s life.
Especially with Carol when Ezekiel unexpectedly shows up at her doorstep. That was
cute, admittingly. But before that, when I heard the knock, I was like, Bruh, no way.
I thought it d be the Saviors or something.

Juvenile Justice In Juveniles
The act of justice is to provide both fairness and equality for both the victim and
offender. With the increase of juvenile offenders, the YOA was enhanced therefore
forming the YCJA, which would ultimately focus on ending the cycle of recidivism
among young offenders, and as a result of the YCJA being introduced, 42% of
overall crimeby youths had been declined from the year 2000 to 2014. In doing this
the YCJA s main goals were and still are to recuperate the youthful offenders by
focusing on rehabilitation and reintegration, and looking at the underlying cause of
the crime. Although not acknowledging the suffering and constant fear that the victim
and community go through, as the result of the crime.
To achieve the goal of stopping crimes among youths, they have set forth to make
reintegrating and rehabilitating a big part of keeping juveniles out of prison for the
remainder of their life. Meaning, they try to instill positive behaviour and choices
upon juvenile offenders by providing ways to try and migrate them back into the
community while maintaining good behaviour. This, of course, does not happen
without the assistance of YCJA counsellors and justice advocacy groups, as these
groups make it their main interest to provide constant equality and stability towards
these offenders. As the young offenders try to step in the right direction with the
help of the YCJA, they are often given a created guideline or a set of rules that try
and lead the offender towards

realize that no matter how good of a writer he becomes, his under looked race and

meaningful thing in his life, Camila. Bandini should have understood that he
cannot find love in materialistic thing, but in Camila or Vera. Some could say it

Money Can Buy You Happiness
Many people say that money cant buy you happiness, well I don t find that to be
true. Having a large amount of money has become a dream in many peoples lives.
Although money can buy you thing you want to make you happy, happiness is only
bought by the people you surround your self with. Many people are convinced that
money can buy a person happiness, however most happiness comes from families and
friends. Money can buy you happiness because, money can buy you security, stress

One reason that money can buy you happiness is security. In this world we are
living in anything can happen that is why security is a very important to be in part
of our lives. Many homes are being robbed into every year. With that extra money
you can buy your home happiness by securing it with good security to keep you
and your family safe from any harm out side your house. With good security you
and your loved ones can enjoy life without having to worry about unsafety issues. If
one being is know for his money security outside his or her home is very important.
For instance, if someone tries to rob them or do any harm with security they wouldn t
have to worry about it, therefore it brings happiness and safety to the one and the
loved one. In addition, information security is very important. When having many

The Censorship Of Singapore ( Mda )
The practise of censorship the restriction of ideas, action or image through the
control of the media or any other medium of expression. Censorship should be
practised sensibly so that it will not restrict the development and expression of new
ideas while ensuring that social and political harmony is assured. Censorshipplays a
vital role in maintaining the morals of its society and creating an economically
dynamic, socially cohesive and culturally vibrant nation. (N.A, N.D) The press
exert a significant influence on the public and is partly responsible for the views
and values that many hold. Hence, it should be responsible with what it put forth to
the public. Singapore has gradually moved from film censorship to film
classification and now to the focus on media literacy. Media Authority of Singapore
(MDA) plays a significant role in regulating and conducting matters pertaining to the
media. It is guided by legislation/acts such as Media Development Authority of
Singapore Act, code of practice and guideline to comply and enforce the entities. In
this term paper, we will discuss how the media handle censorship and classification
related matters as well as reviewing the Films Appeal Committee under the films act

Essay on Analysis of Beneath My House
Paper 5 Analysis of Beneath My House Beneath My House by Louise Erdrich, is a
literary essay with an expressive approach. Erdrich narrates the day she rescues a
kitten from beneath her house, despite the fact that she does not even like cats. Her
maternal instincts take over when she hears the kitten cry, which causes her to do
whatever it takes to rescue the kitten. Then, the author analyzes the event and she
expresses her emotional response. Through the use of description and narration,
Erdrich allows for the audience to imagine the rescue of the kitten beneath her house.

She presents this irony in a humorous way, which allows comic relief in the middle
of a dangers situation. It is evident that this literary work has an expressive
approach. The author shares a personal experience of rescuing a kitten from
beneath her house. In her reflection, she reveals what the basement symbolizes to
her, which is both comfort and death: comfort, because she finally rescues this tiny
creature ; death, because she is in need of a rescue herself. No one else is aware
that she is beneath the house, and she is so far beneath, in a small space; she feels
as if she may be stuck and die there. She compares her feelings to what she thinks a
fetus may feel right before delivery, and states that, what the body remembers of
birth it anticipates as death. Erdrich expresses her emotional reactions throughout,
and she carefully selects words that cause an aesthetic effect. She says the kitten has
a piteous cry that she can hardly stand to hear. Then, she gets so close to the kitten
and brushes its fur, but the kitten scrambles away, and she feels a slight warmth come
over her, which is a mad calm. This mad calm pushes her to complete this rescue
mission. She continues to try and catch the kitten, and she continues to fail. Her
desperation is apparent, but she prevails and takes a deep breath, and remains patient,
and finally she catches the kitten. Erdrich uses description and first person narration
Binge Drinking In Australia
Alcohol is the most commonly used drug in Australia (The Australian Drug
Foundation, 2014). The term binge drinking is defined as drinking heavily over a
short period of time with the intention of becoming intoxicated (Druginfo.adf.org.au,
2009). Binge drinking is spreading across Australia and is now having a greater affect
on adolescents. There are things that individuals, schools, families and governments
can do in order to minimise binge drinking. The effects that alcoholhas on the body
depend on a range of thing such as how often you are drinking, the strength of the
drink you drink and how much you drink (Dame, 2016). Alcohol has both short term
and long term effects on the body. Some short term effects include alcohol poisoning,

Australia.
Teenagers binge drinking on the weekends is affecting their education as some are

Speaking on the brand new deal, Henrik Johansson of Paddy Power said, Once the

Personal Statement Of Purpose A River Padma
River Padma, the biggest and most raging river of Bangladesh, is only twenty
kilometers from the village where I grew up hearing about the sinking of locally
manufactured launch which regularly took a toll of thousands of lives. I just
always asked myself why this type of accident happens. As the Padma has
alienated the southern part of our country from the other regions, it is a must for
people in those areas to cross the river to reach the capital city, Dhaka. In the year
of 2008 when I first came to Dhaka, I had a bitter experience of observing such
accident. Horrible scene of hundreds of people dying in front of me made me
seriously rethink how can we resolve this problem? This question drove me to choose
Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering(NAME) as my major in university level
and having the opportunity to be a student of the Bangladesh University of
Engineering Technology (BUET) was a great achievement for me.

The Intellectual Rise of Islam
The Intellectual Rise of Islam
The Islamic Golden age provided the Abbasid Caliphate with an immense amount of
political power and influence. The empire controlled lands from West Africa to
parts of current day Iran and the new capital, Baghdad, quickly developed to into a
large and advanced city . With control over previous Greek, Egyptian, and Persian
lands, the locality of the empire set base for the academic, philosophical and
medicinal advancement that define the Islamic Golden Age. Several schools of
thought began setting up in Baghdad, such as Gundishapur which brought Greek
medicine, science, and philosophy to the Islamic culture. Schools like these helped
Islamic scholars to learn from these texts in order to build their own thoughts and
treatises. The pursuit for academic advancement in fields of philosophy, technology,
and medicine defines the Golden Age of Islam at it allowed a proliferation of
scholars from different regions to study under one empire and one language. The size
and stability of the Caliphate of the time proves their political and economic power,
however the success of the society would not have amounted to its potential if it were
not for the academic advances that flourished throughout this time period. The
translation of Hellenic philosophers provided the stepping stone for Islamic
philosophy. For example, Islamic Neoplatonism began flourishing under the first
systematic philosopher of Islam, Abu Nasr al Farabi. His texts, which mirrored
Bodybuilding In The 1970 s
The 1970 s was a major time period for bodybuilding, some say the most important
time period for this sport. From the best bodybuilder ever to live breaking records
and winning titles to poems about the life of a bodybuilder. The main topic for this
essay is American Culture in the 70s but to summarize it down, bodybuildingis what
the topic is because without the 70s, bodybuilding would not be as popular as it is
today. Arnold Schwarzeneggeris the best bodybuilder known to man. Reason is
because he had the drive, the determination , the mind set to never give up and
always keep pushing yourself. The 70s was the biggest time period for him because
he won his Mr.Olympia 7 times in a row. In the 70s people were confused about

This theme is almost a celebrated thing of their achievement with the use of steroids.
But it s not uncommon for bodybuilders not to use steroids or some other hormone
drug for performance enhancement growth to perform at their great level.
The 1970s was a unique time in the American Culture that when examined casts a
view that takes place in American society. Bodybuilding was a major thing in this
decade from the film Pumping Iron having a major role in bodybuilding to racial,
citizen roles Arnold and Franco and just every other non citizen had to face with.
But it showed how there is and can be success in the United States if you set your
mind to something a do it and never give up on yourself and never quit grinding and
always stay hungry. Bodybuilding too many is addicting and they can t stop
grinding, for an example, Arnold and Franco at the ages of 70 years old are still in
their old gym Gold s Gym which bodybuilder Ken Waller who was is in Pumping
Iron owns Gold s Gym and runs it still this day. So if there was a message in this
essay it would be to never give up, always push your self and never wanna be like

Internet Addicts in Danger Essay
Internet Addicts in Danger
Internet chat rooms have become a devastating disadvantage to the social interaction
and growth of people in the world. More and more of the world s youth are becoming
addicted to Internet chat rooms. Not only are Internet chat room relationships leading
to impersonal contact of people hiding flaws behind anonymity, they are leading to
the abduction of many underage individuals. In an article published in The Age, a
magazine in Melbourne, Australia, Doctor Mubarak Rahamathulla has researched
teenagers that have become pathologically addicted to Internet chat rooms.
Rahamathulla argues that this addiction could damage their social skills as well as
their ability to form intimate relationships. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Barr opens the article with this passage: Check any other message board; they ve
got them for every conceivable subject. Comic books, sci fi movies, long distance

And the discussion, for the most part, will be supportive, informative and good
natured. Not on the music sites. These well meaning forums intended to foster
peace, love and understanding are a snarling snake pit, with fans one upping each
other with unfounded knowledge and unpopular ideas going down in flames.
What Barr addresses in her article is a reflection of what is going on all over the
Internet. In chat rooms on millions of different sites people are pretending to be
who they are not, because they want to express opinions about a topic they feel
passionate about, without being criticized. The idea is that if your screen name is
chastised for a certain opinion, you are not really being chastised. It is this mentality
that keeps people logged into chat rooms all hours of the day, every day, keeping
them from the physically social world. And turning their life into an online soap

Barr s article. Gerland says all you have online is a user name, you don t have to have

In my opinion, Carol Dweck states a powerful conclusion in her TED Talk video. I
believe that Dweck gives a great introduction to the influential field. One does not

Hope provides us with the power of believing that one can improve ourselves.
Having the right skill set is not sufficient one has to find the right mindset. She
argues that one needs to learn from mistakes committed, embrace the challenge and
focus on his own development. Not to mention, Dweck also argues that no more

Of course many changes are made to processes within operating level work units.
When they are made, care is usually taken to make sure that the work leaves the area
in the same format that it has been so that it will not cause problems in the next work
area that receives it. Often this means retranscribing some of the data or maintaining
double records. As these local changes accumulate, a process becomes increasingly
cumbersome and subject to breakdown.
What should we do to get the best world class work processes? Use organized
common sense, the Work Simplification approach. This means chart the process, at
a level of detail that shows all of the steps that people take to process each of the
records in the process. This detailed process chart provides a well organized and
comprehensive display of the work that the people do in the process, something that
is thoroughly familiar to the employees who do this work. Then form a team of
veteran employees whose experience collectively covers the entire process. If there
is technology involved in the process that the team does not understand simply pull
up another chair or two and have people join the team whose experience covers these
areas. And, they join the team as equal members. They don t take over the project.

Loveliness And Love In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 18
In Shakespeare s Sonnet 18, the relationship in lines 1 8 between the young man s
loveliness and temperateness when compared to a summer s day can be connected
through the times of the Elizabethan. When Shakespeare wrote his sonnet it was very
common to write with the theme of love and often weather used to create moods. In
this Sonnet, Shakespeare happens to be talking about a young man of great beauty
and promising expression and affection. In this sonnet, he first uses the word
loveliness when comparing to a summer s day. Summer is a romantic month when
the sun is up and lovers can come outside and enjoy the fresh air, yet this young man
is even more lovely than this season. Shakespeare follows this loveliness description
mentioning why summer isn t that lovely with the rough winds do shake the darling
buds of May, and Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, So when compared to
the summer day, Shakespeare put the man he is describing above it, being even more
lovely than the summer season. Temperateness , his next adjective refers to weather
and the great balance within the young man. Unlike summer, he isn t switching up
his weather or oneself with breezes, hot suns, and clouds.
In the Sonnet, Shakespeare says, And every fair from fair sometimes declines, which
means that beauty doesn t last a person forever. He says that everything loses beauty
and is not eternal like a short summer. He then goes on to say this young man s thy
eternal summer
Essay on Use of Geographic Data in Natural Disasters
Missing Figures The use of geographic data in the field of preventing and
mitigating natural disasters remains a pioneering activity. However the circulation
of the technology is still hindered by many issues such as the difficulty in obtaining
the appropriate raw data, the lack of effective graphical user interfaces, the intricacy
of predictive models and the expense of digitisation (Carrara et al., 1999). Natural
disasters are becoming more frequent around the world, as seen in figure 1, which

environment becoming more apparent in the form of climate change, the Geomatics
industry is becoming more important in mapping temporal changes and spatial
distribution especially in the case of natural disasters, but is also significant due to
globalisation, in mapping social, economic or distribution aspects globally and
locally. With the Earth s first satellites being launched in the early 1970 s, there have
been fast advances within the industry since then and whilst there have been many
failures, these have mainly been due to the incorrect application of remotely sensed
data rather than based upon their intrinsic limitations, however despite the failures,
the Geomatics industry continues to be valuable in aiding and protecting countries
against natural disasters and with the monitoring of disasters (Carrara et al., 1999).
Furthermore, the awareness of geographical data processing is becoming more
widespread among western countries along with many developing nations, which
enables faster response times to natural disasters through
Summary Of Rice Paddies And Math
I have chosen to discuss a chapter titled Rice Paddies and Math, from Outliers. I
will also be discussing the articles In Praise of Chain Stores and How it Feels to Be
Colored Me from The Presence of Others. Some of my favorite assignments were
ones that involved reading chapters from Outliers by Malcom Gladwell. This book
always took my preconceived notions and tore them down piece by piece. I
particularly enjoyed Rice Paddies and Math because of the way it tied math
capabilities to culture. It is not a connection I would have made on my own but it is
one that makes a lot of sense to me now. First, Gladwell points out that Asian kids
are able to learn how to count faster than their Western counterparts because their
number names are very brief (228). The short number names allows them to
memorize more digits. The number naming system in Asian languages are also more
logical. For example, Eleven is ten one. Twelve is ten two. Twenty four is... Show

The reason I chose this article is because I enjoyed author Zora Hurston s positive
attitude. Hurston faced prejudice for being a person of color but she did not allow
her circumstances to destroy her spirit. It is easy for anyone to become resentful
when life is unfair, but it takes courage to keep a positive outlook. Hurston s
response to feeling discriminated against was How can they deny themselves the
pleasure of my company? It s beyond me (419). That response is perfect because the
people with blind prejudice are the ones missing out on getting to know a person.
Judging anyone by anything other than their character is absurd. This topic seems
particularly relevant given the current racial tension we are seeing throughout the
country. While we cannot control people s hate, we can control how we react to it.
With this attitude, I think Hurston sets a good example. An attitude we could all have

The Life of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ means numerous things to people: the Son of God, Savior, the Messiah,
etc. But many might still not know what happened during Jesus s life. There are
numerous stories in the Bible. His story starts in the New Testament, though the
prophecies about Him are in the Old Testament. Through the Bible, people have been
able to decipher the Messianic prophecies, Jesuss death and resurrection, and Jesus s
return.
The Messianic Prophecies are prophecies about the Messiah. He will end the dark
times, and bring joy (Isaiah 9: 1 7). God will make this possible by giving us Jesus,
His Son (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus, who not only is the Son of God, but also God, will
bring peace. He will be the king. This will happen because God loves us all so
much. God then goes on to talk about how His Son will bring justice, and will not
stick out in a crowd (Isaiah 42: 1 7). There was nothing particularly striking about
Jesus, in appearance or demeanor (Isaiah 53:2). Because of others suffering, Jesus
felt their sadness (Isaiah 53:4). God wanted Jesus to suffer in His life so that
humans can be saved; though Jesus never complained. Jesus was the sacrifice. He
died for our sins. But He succeeded in what was needed to be done. Afterward, He
would have a remarkable spot in heaven (Isaiah 53:11 12).
Jesus s death is one of the biggest events in the Bible. Judas, who was one of Jesus s
apostles, betrayed Him and gave Him over to the Jews who had been planning to kill
Him in exchange for money (Luke
Merced Community Benefit Analysis
Even though the price of native plants and trees are more expensive than usual, there
are many existing companies that support people to plant the native plants and trees
such as giving away the grant and seed for the volunteer. As a Merced resident, I
found out the solution to achieve the native plants and trees by applying for the
volunteer in order to grantmoney and seeds from other private supporters. Since those
supporters offer everything for people to do so, why don t people accept those
offers? With that in mind, since the native plantsand trees are highly expensive than
usual, the support from free grantsand seeds could be the solution for Merced people
to restoring the native plants and trees in order to create a healthier environment. In

At first, I was wondering what does it actually mean. The description is explaining
the government offers grants to gardening projects, which can be beneficial to the
community. In other words, the government is giving away the money to gardening
the society where we live. Because planting is always bifacial to the environment. In
fact, the government hands out $10 billion subsidies per month, which has many
unclaimed subsidies which most people may qualify. Throughout the application, the
volunteer must illustrate that his or her proposal will benefit the community, such as
planting the native plants, then you have a chance to receive a free grant. Since it is
a grant, you don t have to payback, all is yours. However, the grant system from the
government is operated by the (USDA), which has several opportunities including the
garden grant which I am mentioning, but has more clearly explanation of how to
qualify. Nevertheless, they have several opportunities as a result of several
qualifications either, it s depending on which one the volunteer wants to do
Human Waste And Body Waste
1. Introduction
As has been asserted in a lot of research, how to handle human waste could be a
major issue. Human waste including food waste and body waste. The human body
waste will be focused in this report. According to GENECO, there are 75 million
m3 of human sewage have been creating every year in Bristol. The human body
waste could contaminate water system and lead disease if they haven t been treat
appropriately. As Tearfund and WaterAid(2002) has pointed out, four out of ten
people, 2.4 billion, are suffering from the disease caused by the issue of poor
sanitation. Therefore, action on sanitation and re think how to use the human body
waste will make work more effective. In order to address the research question is it
possible that human body waste could be use as renewable energy , the technology of
composting human body waste will be investigated, data and case study will be
analyzed in terms of energy consumption, water use and air pollution, finally, how to
make human body waste as a useful substance and achieve sustainable lifestyle will
be answer.

Bellagio Case Summary
In the case of Bellagio v. National Labor Relations Board, The United States Court
of Appeals was asked to rule on whether a ruling made by the NLRB was
appropriate. The case concerned a bellman at the Bellagio Hotel who solicited a tip
from a customer, which was against company policy. The customer complained to
management, and the bellman was summoned to a meeting regarding the complaint.
When asked about the complaint, the bellman requested a union representative;
however, he declined to contact one by his own effort. The Bellagio tried to find a
union rep, but was unable to locate one at that time, so they informed the Bellman
that he could fill out a statement without a rep, or the meeting would be postponed
and he would be put on suspension pending investigation until the matter was cleared
up. It was clearly indicated that the SPI was not disciplinary and the SPI would not
stay in his employee file, but that he could not work until the investigation was
completed. As he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Asking the employee not to speak of a disciplinary matter while it is investigated
does not seem to me to be coercion. The employee might have had ulterior motives
for not leaving the premises. While the court suggested that this is coercion, I would
say that it is common sense. Since the bellman gave no statement, the Bellagio does
not know if he is trying to influence a potential witness or simply vent to a fellow
employee. There is also the potential of a customer overhearing his complaint, and
that would be unprofessional. Overall, I think the hotel handled the complaint and
discipline issue in a professional manner, while the employee tried to abuse the
system. A minor infraction, which should have been handled quickly and easily,
became a case that wasted time, money, and valuable court docket

In the selection below, Rudy describes what happened next. In March or April, 1944, we got the dreaded notice that we had been selected for resettlement farther east. The train cars they took us in were actually cattle cars. We entered the cars and sat on our baggage. There was not very much room between us and the roof of the cattle car. Our car had from 80 to 100 people in it so it was quite crowded. We were sifting tight on tight. We had some water and some food but no comfort whatsoever. The cars were sealed. We could not open them from the inside. The w indows were small, open... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mattress was just burlap filled with straw. We had not eaten at that time, and we were not to get anything to eat until the next morning. The Daily Routine at Auschwitz In the morning we got metal cups and spoons. We were each given two slices of bread and sometimes a pat of margarine or a little bit of marmalade. The coffee was toasted acorns ground up. It tasted terrible. The midday meal was potato soup with maybe a li ttle bit of meat. Potatoes were the main ingredient and the kind of beets you normally feed to cattle. We were already hungry in the Theresienstadt ghetto because we did not get enough to eat. In Auschwitz we were beginning to starve. In the evening we go t another slice of bread, some coffee, no marmalade, no butter, no nothing. Every morning we had the counting of the prisoners. We were arranged in groups of five with just small distances between us. The SS trooper would come by and start counting one, two, three, four, five. If he miscounted, he went over it again. Sometimes we stood there two hours. I kept wondering why none of us tried to overpower this lone guard who had just a small pistol. But what could we have done? There were guardposts on either end and high tension wires in between. We would all have been killed. We did not know that Auschwitz was an extermination camp or that we could be put to death. We did know that there was always this sickly sweet smell in the air. We saw a large chimney belching smoke 24 hours a

  • 6. Swot Analysis Of Alibuba In China Introduction: In the year 2016, an e commerce giant held a one day sales bonanza that outsold Black Friday and Cyber Monday at all US retailers combined. It was not Amazon s Prime Day; it was Chinese e commerce company Alibaba s Singles Day Holiday, in November of 2016, where approximately $17.8 billion worth of goods were sold, according to Business Insider (http://www.businessinsider.com/amazon prime day vs alibaba singles day 2017 7). Alibaba, founded in 1999 by Jack Ma to connect Chinese manufacturers to buyers, has grown into an e commerce giant with a portfolio of innovative smaller companies working within it. However, the fact that a vast majority of their revenue is generated in China (83% of their revenue from Chinese commerce ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is partially motivated by Ma s acknowledgement that the Chinese economy is slowing and that the company s explosive gains in revenue and user additions in China have slowed. While the Chinese market may still have some growth potential, reaching these massive goals will require global expansion to new markets. The US has a population of well over 300 million, and according to Pew Research, in the year 2015, 84% of American adults used the internet regularly (http://www.pewinternet.org /2015/06/26/americans internet access 2000 2015/ ), compared to China s tightly restricted internet. Thus, Alibaba would be wise to expand into this country full of technologically active potential users. Relatedly, American firms Amazon and eBay both once sought a greater share in the Chinese e commerce Market. Examining these companies provides an interesting lens for Alibaba s potential expansion into the United States, as these companies faced a similar culture shock between China and the US. eBay attempted this entry in 2004, but failed due not comprehending the needs and wants of Chinese consumers (http://onlinelibrary wiley com.uml.idm.oclc.org/doi /10.1002/tie.21739/full ), while Amazon entered in 2004 by purchasing Joyo.com, a book and music vendor. Although Amazon did not flame out in the manner of eBay, its share of the Chinese e commerce market has hovered down around 1.5%. Both Amazon and eBay encountered

  • 8. Beam Hammer Essay DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF BEAM HAMMER Abstract Beam hammer is a device which works on the principle of beam engine or inversion of four bar mechanism. Cast iron plates are used to construct the rigid beam engine mechanism which is one of the applications of four bar chain. The wooden bed is used to absorb the vibrations caused while operating the system. Nuts and bolts are made up of carbon steel which is capable of withstand deformation while reciprocating motion takes place. The hammer and the work rest are made up of mild steel because while hammer hitting the work piece deformation occurs both in the hammer and the work rest. To prevent the deformation, the mild steel is chosen in our project. When the crank is rotated, according to the beam engine mechanism it is converted into reciprocating motion on the other side through inversion of four bar mechanism, is achieved a prescribed hammering action on the cast iron work piece. 1. Introduction 1.1 Beam Engine Mechanism It is based on four bar chain mechanism. The function of the mechanism is to convert the rotary motion of the crank into reciprocating motion [1]. In this mechanism, when the crank AB rotates about the fixed centre A, the lever CDE oscillates about the centre D and the end of the lever E is connected to a piston rod which reciprocates in the cylinder as shown in Figure 1. Rigid material is used to withstand deformation and vibration caused by the lever for designing the beam of the mechanism [7].

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast to this Whitman s outlook to a storm is one that suggests that he wants the reader to be aware of the threatening and aggressive nature of a storm, Waves, air, midnight, their savagest trinity lashing . In my opinion this line sums up everything about Whitman s attitude to the storm. In spite of the fact that each poet s feelings towards the storm are primarily different there are subtle similarities in their thoughts about the storm. From a personal standpoint I believe that there is a underlying feeling that both poets share, this is that they both accept and acknowledge that man cannot combat the power of nature and that all humans are condemned to the fact that all we can do is find the best means to adapt to natures elements. With regards to the structure of each poem, Whitman s Patrolling Barnegat is a sonnet despite the fact that it doesn t abide by all the rules associated with sonnets. Heaney s Storm on the Island is a blank verse poem with 10 syllables in each line. The tone and rhythm of each poem reflects the poet s own personal preference on how they wished to write and construct their own poem, unsurprisingly the tone and rhythm of each poem is uniquely different. The rhythm of Storm on the Island is one that flows steady in a controlled manner and the tone compliments this as it is written in a laid back relaxed style. This relaxed tone gives me

In our world we talk about our government and America being better. Yet, there is more to it than just the government itself. We as citizens hold up the responsibility of being the guardians of our country s liberties. It s not about just being a citizen alone but, being able to realize the opportunities that we have in laws themselves. Court of law, immigrants earning their citizenship, and our military system are all topics that will be covered in this essay. First, we have our court of law. This is meaning that you have many rights in the court room itself such as, the right to remain silent. Slaughter Professor Eschrich ENG L204 28 May 2015 Nostalgia Nostalgia is defined as a wistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a former time in one s life, to one s home or homeland, or to one s family and friends; a sentimental yearning for the happiness of a former place or time. (Dictionary.com) Nostalgia is often caused by something prompting the individual of an event or detail from their past. In theory, nostalgia is a wonderful experience of reminiscing on memories in the past, but every so often nostalgia can have negative effects on one s mindset. The result of these feelings and emotions can range through many different things, from happiness, to sorrow, to anger. In The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Mohsin Hamid suggests that in difficult times in people s lives, nostalgia happens, and can evoke different emotions in people. First, we see a sense of nostalgia in chapter six of the novel, when Changez says, The destruction of the World Trade Centre had, as she had said, churned up old thoughts that had settled in the manner of sediment to the bottom of a pond; now the waters of her mind were murky with what previously had been ignored. I did not know if the same was true of me. In this instance, Changez and Erica are having a conversation post 9/11 terrorist attacks. The nostalgia that took place in this passage makes the reader see the two thoughts that the characters have about this incident. The way that the passage ends with Changez

The reduction from 14 to 12 leagues was because of incorporation and the long season and less recovery time between matches for players, and more leagues was a burden. Less leagues and shorter season was seen by the directors as a better option for the premiership. While the courts acknowledged that the exclusion was discriminatory towards the club, it was in the NSWR s constitution (under cl.46 (1)), that the NSWRL had the power to regulate which clubs would play in the premiership. But as the case above shows that sports and law are becoming important and a legitimate area of policy and study, which became known as sports and the law. The case above looks at shareholder oppression, which looks at if the shareholders are using their powers fairly and not oppressing minority groups. It is fascinating to think that this concept was only linked to businesses, but now is a legitimate consideration of sports such as rugby. The Revolution Of The Industrial Revolution When thinking of the industrial revolution, I usually correlate this transitional period to great advancements in machinery, and an increase in jobs. However, after looking past the surface of the industrial revolution, in regards to the promise of great wealth, this promise was not kept, along with other issues. I believe that a better life would mean that people would not have to go through the same struggles they once did before the revolution, struggles such as not having a job, money, home, etc. In addition, a better life would have to be permanent for it to truly make a difference. Unfortunately, the industrial revolutiondid not do as much good as people perceived it to have done. Essentially, a revolution is a changing in social order, and although this did happen, the people effected who were a part of it were given almost the exact opposite of what they expected. This essay will explore the conditions workers endured during the revolution, and discuss whether the revolution gave a better life, or a worse one. The Rules of a Factoryin Berlin depicts just that. However, these rules were, in some cases, much stricter and excessive than what I would usually consider normal rules for such a work environment. For example, one rule states All conversation with fellow workers is prohibited (p.313). In addition to not speaking while working, almost each rule if disobeyed will be fined. Workers arriving 2 minutes late shall lose half an hour s wage (p.312),

Visual illusions allow us to study the difference between the objective reality and our interpretation of the perceived visual stimuli or the way our brains process visual information, in order to develop a general understanding of our visual system (Carrasco, 1986); In spite of the relevance of this issue, general concensus is yet to be reached on the origin of such phenomena One representation is the Muller Lyer (1889) Illusion (MLI), a geometric size illusion classically represented by modified perception of the length of a line, influenced by arrowheads or arrowtails on its endpoints (Zeman et al, 2014). The MLI has been widely used attempting to explain the underlying mechanism behind geometrical illusions; Gregory (1966) attributed the illusion to the misapplied size constancy scaling influenced by depth cues; Carrasco (1986), argued that visual channels are orientation and spatial frequency specific after presenting the MLI to eight participants and observing a reduction on the illusion after exposure to a low spatial frequency grid. She presents this irony in a humorous way, which allows comic relief in the middle of a dangers situation. It is evident that this literary work has an expressive approach. The author shares a personal experience of rescuing a kitten from beneath her house. In her reflection, she reveals what the basement symbolizes to her, which is both comfort and death: comfort, because she finally rescues this tiny creature ; death, because she is in need of a rescue herself. No one else is aware that she is beneath the house, and she is so far beneath, in a small space; she feels as if she may be stuck and die there. She compares her feelings to what she thinks a fetus may feel right before delivery, and states that, what the body remembers of birth it anticipates as death. Erdrich expresses her emotional reactions throughout, and she carefully selects words that cause an aesthetic effect. She says the kitten has a piteous cry that she can hardly stand to hear. Then, she gets so close to the kitten and brushes its fur, but the kitten scrambles away, and she feels a slight warmth come over her, which is a mad calm. This mad calm pushes her to complete this rescue mission. She continues to try and catch the kitten, and she continues to fail. Her desperation is apparent, but she prevails and takes a deep breath, and remains patient, and finally she catches the kitten. Erdrich uses description and first person narration

Loveliness And Love In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 18 In Shakespeare s Sonnet 18, the relationship in lines 1 8 between the young man s loveliness and temperateness when compared to a summer s day can be connected through the times of the Elizabethan. When Shakespeare wrote his sonnet it was very common to write with the theme of love and often weather used to create moods. In this Sonnet, Shakespeare happens to be talking about a young man of great beauty and promising expression and affection. In this sonnet, he first uses the word loveliness when comparing to a summer s day. Summer is a romantic month when the sun is up and lovers can come outside and enjoy the fresh air, yet this young man is even more lovely than this season. Shakespeare follows this loveliness description mentioning why summer isn t that lovely with the rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, and Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, So when compared to the summer day, Shakespeare put the man he is describing above it, being even more lovely than the summer season. Temperateness , his next adjective refers to weather and the great balance within the young man. Unlike summer, he isn t switching up his weather or oneself with breezes, hot suns, and clouds. In the Sonnet, Shakespeare says, And every fair from fair sometimes declines, which means that beauty doesn t last a person forever. He says that everything loses beauty and is not eternal like a short summer. He then goes on to say this young man s thy eternal summer

As a Merced resident, I found out the solution to achieve the native plants and trees by applying for the volunteer in order to grantmoney and seeds from other private supporters. Since those supporters offer everything for people to do so, why don t people accept those offers? With that in mind, since the native plantsand trees are highly expensive than usual, the support from free grantsand seeds could be the solution for Merced people to restoring the native plants and trees in order to create a healthier environment. In September 2016, the State of California had allocated $1.2 billion... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first, I was wondering what does it actually mean. The description is explaining the government offers grants to gardening projects, which can be beneficial to the community. In other words, the government is giving away the money to gardening the society where we live. Because planting is always bifacial to the environment. In fact, the government hands out $10 billion subsidies per month, which has many unclaimed subsidies which most people may qualify. Throughout the application, the volunteer must illustrate that his or her proposal will benefit the community, such as planting the native plants, then you have a chance to receive a free grant. Since it is a grant, you don t have to payback, all is yours. However, the grant system from the government is operated by the (USDA), which has several opportunities including the garden grant which I am mentioning, but has more clearly explanation of how to qualify. Nevertheless, they have several opportunities as a result of several qualifications either, it s depending on which one the volunteer wants to do

  • 54. Bellagio Case Summary In the case of Bellagio v. National Labor Relations Board, The United States Court of Appeals was asked to rule on whether a ruling made by the NLRB was appropriate. The case concerned a bellman at the Bellagio Hotel who solicited a tip from a customer, which was against company policy. The customer complained to management, and the bellman was summoned to a meeting regarding the complaint. When asked about the complaint, the bellman requested a union representative; however, he declined to contact one by his own effort. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Asking the employee not to speak of a disciplinary matter while it is investigated does not seem to me to be coercion. The employee might have had ulterior motives for not leaving the premises. While the court suggested that this is coercion, I would say that it is common sense. Since the bellman gave no statement, the Bellagio does not know if he is trying to influence a potential witness or simply vent to a fellow employee. There is also the potential of a customer overhearing his complaint, and that would be unprofessional. Overall, I think the hotel handled the complaint and discipline issue in a professional manner, while the employee tried to abuse the system. A minor infraction, which should have been handled quickly and easily, became a case that wasted time, money, and valuable court docket
