Le Ceek: Blind Optimism
Noam Chomsky and climate change
I once e-mail Noam Chomsky.
The issue centered around climate
change and the leaked e-mails from
the University of East Anglia. You may
remember that the Research
Department, the leading research facility
on the issue, falsified data surrounding
climate change and the global warming
debate to make the situation look dire.
This is the research report I sent my good
mate, NC , by Willie Soon and Sallie
Baliunas (formerly of Harvard-Smithsonian
Center for Astrophysics and Mount Wilson
Observatory), who take a historic view of
the matter, over a 1,000-yr
period: http://www.int-
res.com/articles/cr2003/23/c023p089.pdf.
They conclude that “across the world, many
records reveal that the 20th century is
probably not the warmest nor unique
extreme climatic period of the last
millennium“. After reading the report this is
the response I received:

There is an overwhelming scientific
consensus on the issue, and as on almost all
topics, there are a few dissenters. All agree
that there is a range of error. The consensus
prediction could be too alarmist, or they
could be understated. You can carry out the
cost-benefit analysis for making a decision
about how to respond.
NC
I disagree. And he was wrong (not sure if
he’s changed his opinion since). But it
doesn’t detract from the fact that as a
linguist and political commentator he
stands in a class of his own. I highly
recommend Manufacturing Consent. I
dedicate this post to him.
Introducing Le Ceek

I messaged Le Ceek the other day and
after a brief discussion I asked how life
was. The response shocked me: “Life is
always good…” Shocked because this is
how I wish I reasoned. Shocked because
this is ultimately the person I hope to be,
the attitude I hope to develop.
It reinforced a concept that I know to be
true, a concept that I read about a while ago
about successful people: to be successful,
one must be eternally optimistic. One must
always see the glass is half full even when
situations are going against you. I’d term
blind optimism as an enhanced form of
optimism possessed by highly successful
people. They don’t need everyone else
around them to agree with them. They don’t
require the blessing of those around them,
because their inner being is fine tuned to
always remain at an optimal state.
 Optimism is a mental attitude or world
view that interprets situations and events
as being best (optimized), so that in
some way that may not be fully
comprehended the present moment is in
an optimum state. The concept is
extended to include the hope that future
conditions will unfold as optimal.
If your mindset is generally positive, if
you’re generally always in an optimistic
state, your worldview will be too and you
will therefore be able to deal with any
situation that arises.
Let me demonstrate:
The other day a friend called me, she
was down. Following a 30-minute
conversation she stated that her mood
had been lifted and she was happy.
Nothing had physically altered in her 3-D
reality except her state, her mental
attitude. Suddenly she was no longer
depressed, and decided to get up and do
something about her circumstances,
rather than sit around and mope.
Now imagine existing in a perpetual mind
state in which you’re generally positive,
optimistic and hopeful about your future.
You will be absolutely unstoppable!
There is nothing in life that you can’t
achieve. Everything that you want will be
yours.
What does this have to do with Noam
Chomsky?

Well, I think it’s cool that I received an e-
mail from him, I wanted to share this
with the world. And also because this
post is a very mild study on the structure
of the term, blind optimism, so I thought
it’d be apt to mention him. And now that
you have his e-mail address, holla at
him!
For the record Le Ceek is a real
individual. This person is highly
successful, driven, with a high level of
EQ. I wish to mask this person’s identity,
so from now on they’ll be referred to
simply as: Le Ceek. This is the first of
many Le Ceek related posts.
