Mercy for Earth is a non-profit organization founded and directed by Ignacio Barsottelli, a veteran of the environmental conservation movement.
In 1997, Ignacio Barsottelli founded the non-profit organization “Yo Limpio a Puerto Rico” (I Clean PR). The organization partnered with the Puerto Rican department of education to institute environmental education in schools and establish additional programs to educate the community about various conservation methods – initiatives that continue to influence the community today.
Mercy for Earth seeks to increase public awareness, educate and mobilize the community by understanding environmental issues through research, the media and educational programs.
Environmental Education is facing new challenges. Despite significant achievements, from institutional agencies and others, it must be strengthened and project its expansion, thereby eliminating the slow bureaucratic aspects, creating new strategies of action, further opening of the social agencies and pursuing broader international commitments. Deepening in Environmental Education is the surest path to planetary transformation and survival of the human race.

From Plato’s Cave to the COVID-19 Pandemic:
Confinement, Social Distancing, and Biopolitics
Abstract
This essay by a physician-philosopher compares the COVID-19 pandemic to Plato’s allegory of the cave, where prisoners see only shadows cast on the walls of their cave and know them as their only reality. Raised there since childhood, they experience sensory deprivation, impacting their brains and their minds, limiting their perceptions and their understanding. The philosopher who escapes from the cave into the harsh light of day and returns to tell the truth is met by fellow prisoners with derision. The pandemic’s preventive measures of confinement and social distancing may induce sensory deprivation and trauma, creating an “experimental childhood” for billions of vulnerable youth. In the political sphere, philosophers like Giorgio Agamben warn that the COVID-19 crisis creates a pretext for emergency measures, at worst a “techno-medical despotism” in a new form of biopolitics, declaring a medical state of exception where the pandemic crisis is the new normal.
Key words: Plato’s cave, COVID-19 pandemic, sensory deprivation, confinement, social distancing, biopolitics

It reinforced a concept that I know to be true, a concept that I read about a while ago about successful people: to be successful, one must be eternally optimistic. One must always see the glass is half full even when situations are going against you. I’d term blind optimism as an enhanced form of optimism possessed by highly successful people.
People whose lives have never been touched by domestic violence or abuse often wonder why women stay so long in abusive relationships. Although the question may be an honest one, it should never be asked in a way that implies any blame on abused women for the situations they endure.

Clason references the ancient city of Babylon, a very wealthy city that was built on a desert. Though the land around the city had nothing going for it, Clason describes how the knowledge of the people, using great feats of engineering, routed a nearby river and created an abundance of crops.

A goal and an objective are interchangeable terms, even some dictionaries define a goal as an objective, but strictly speaking they mean different things.

10 ways to prevent rollover accident injuriesMatt Stan
Car accidents are devastating no matter what type they are, but rollover accidents can cause numerous injuries and be particularly deadly at the same time. Rollover accidents occur when the vehicle’s center of gravity is thrown off and the car turns either on its side, its roof, or completely over.
If you are among the millions of men and women who stand before the mirror and see the equivalent of a spare tire around their midsections, you must be wondering whether there is anything you can do to get rid of it.
2. Earth Foundation has expanded from
Hawaii and the U.S. into Japan and Korea.
Since 1997 we have worked with the
United Nations. We are allied with and
deal with the U.N. Biodiversity division in
Montreal, Canada. In New York we are
allied and deal with UNEP/United Nations
Development Programme and its Equator
Initiative, UNEP/U.N. Environment
Programme, and U.N. Television News. In
Tokyo we are allied with the Tokyo
Development Learning Center, and WHO’s
TDR/Tropical Disease Research division.
3. We’ve come a long way since Earth
Foundation and its president C.T. Ryder
were fortunate to be part of the team as a
promoter in Hawaii and Japan for “The
Cove” documentary feature film that won
an Academy Award in March 2010. Our
Earth Foundation Film Crew was the
main Film Crew for a week at the great,
three week U.N. Biodiversity COP 10
Conference in Nagoya, Japan in
October 2010 with 10,000 people a day
attending -- and it was so much fun.
4. On the EF Website EF123.org on the
“Videos/Films” section of the menu SEE
sharp, short segments of our fascinating
interviews with world experts on
“OCEANS” and SUSTAINABILITY.” Earth
Foundation (“EF”) was a Partner of
the United Nations on the conference
side of the U.N. Biodiversity
Conference in Japan - SEE
http://www.cbd.int/20102/partners
and press “search” for “Earth
Foundation”.
5. And EF was a key, main sponsor of
the public side of that Conference.
“BIODIVERSITY” is every living thing
on Earth being protected — you,
people, animals, trees and plants, air,
atmosphere, climate, water, soil,
minerals, natural resources, mountains,
streams, lakes, seas, oceans, and the
Earth itself.
6. It is a great privilege and we are thankful
to produce the six part (6 one hour
TV programs) on Hawaiian Medicine
that Earth Foundation will release in
about three months. It is very
interesting, unique, valuable information
presented in an entertaining manner by
our good friend a great, charismatic,
accredited, Native Hawaiian Medicine
doctor.
7. Hawaiian Medicine takes a highly
effective, different approach than
Western Medicine. Earth Foundation also
continues to help broadcast national
quality, Spanish language television
programming 24/7/365 in Honolulu to
Oahu’s large Hispanic population.
Hispanics are 10% to 13% of Oahu and
the state’s population.
8. We LOVE Japan and are deeply
saddened by what has happened to
that special country and people. We have
spent considerable time in Japan and
have friends in Japan.
Our Hawaiian friend on Maui (who is the
great Hawaiian Medicine physician
mentioned above) and his wonderful
M.D. Japanese doctor wife are steadily,
constantly helping Japanese families from
the most heavily hit Fukushima area in
Japan.
9. The Earth, America, the Hawaiian
Islands, and humankind are at an
important crossroads. Earth Foundation
knows how to use media to substantially
promote to the public the significant
importance of Biodiversity and the need
to move very fast to start making the
huge changes needed to stop the
acceleration of global warming and the
apparently resulting climate changes.
10. The chairman of Earth Foundation, Ed
Seifert, is based in New York and New
Jersey and has a 33 year career at ABC
Television Network News serving as
the senior video editor for television
network news for ABC’s “Good Morning
America” and the ABC Evening News.

11. The president of Earth Foundation, C.T.
Ryder, has extensive professional
experience as an Executive News
Producer, Reporter, Anchor for
television news bureaus in Denver,
Seattle, and abroad. Ryder is a Motion
Picture Director trained by Comic
Actor/Director Gene Wilder. He has
made documentary films, and is
considering a possible Hawaii feature film
project.
