athletics (1957-1976) represented the USSR. at the 1964 Olympic
games he won a bronze medal, but after 4 years in Mexico he
became an Olympic champion. the 1972 Olympics in Munich he
won the silver medal. Is currently the only Latvian who has
managed to win all three Olympic medals wrought iron. Won 4,
12 and the European USSR 1 Latvian Champion title. in 1987,
the IAAF considered him the all-time greatest Javelin thrower in
the world

Championships. Biathlon practiced since 1978, after the
independence of Latvia was represented by the Latvian
team. summer 2011 announced the athlete's career ended
and turned to the coach's job, but individual competitions
continued to represent the Latvian team the next season.
Is a former professional road bicycle racer from Latvia. He won
the road race at the 2000 world cycling championship in
Plouay, France. He covered the 269 km in 6h 15m 28s, the best
of 158 starters.

women's basketball player in the world in the 1970s and 1980s.
Wearing a men's size 21 (US) / 58 (EU) shoe, she was known
for having the largest feet ever in women's basketball.[3][4] For
almost all of her playing career, she played for TTT Riga,
which was part of Daugava Voluntary Sports Society. With
TTT, she won 15 championships in the Soviet Union and the
European Champion's Cup 15 times.
