This document summarizes a research study that examined the language learning strategies used by 120 Mongolian students preparing to take the IELTS exam. The study utilized the Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) questionnaire to assess students' use of different strategies in six categories: memory, cognitive, compensation, metacognitive, affective, and social. Results showed that metacognitive strategies had the highest reported use with a mean of 4.16, while cognitive strategies had the lowest at 3.34. The two individual strategies used most were "paying attention when someone speaks English" and "trying not to translate word-for-word."
