2. Lab 4 – User Interaction Report
(Web Report)
In this lab, you will practice working with custom reports, learn how to add widgets, and how to filter
the report results.
Our Objective - to analyze the user interaction with the website.
The User Interaction report enables a high-level, yet in-depth view of overall user interactions across
the website.
This report can be used as a starting point to:
● Explore user interaction to learn about website activities
● Identify highest interactions
● Identify suspicious interactions
● Amazing tool for analysts to learn about website activities
Example for some key questions:
● Do the users use the page recommendation? (The help signs)
● What pages are being visited the most?
Recommended for: Product owners, CX/UX/UI experts, data analysts
Let’s get started!
3. 1. From the Home page – Click Reports
2. Click + New Report
4. 3. Select Web report at the perspective section
4. Enter the name for the new report: User Interaction Report (your initials)
5. Select the Web-Dom-8898 application
6. Click Create
The first widget will show us what type of actions users perform on the website
7. Click on the + New Widget in the middle to add the first Widget
5. 8. In the Definition tab, we will set the Measurements and Group By fields as follows:
Measurements: Count
Group By: Interaction Type
9. Click Save to add the Widget to the report
The Widget is added to the report:
10. Now, let's make it more readable for management - click on the three dots on the right side of
the widget
6. 11. Click edit
12. Click the Display tab
13. Change the Display Type to ‘Bar’
14. For including more than five interaction types in the widget – Add 20 in the Limit Result
15. Click Add
● What was the most popular interaction during the past week?
7. Now – let's create a widget that will present us the most used device types among our web application
users
16. Click the ‘+’ sign to add a new widget
17. Edit the Edit Widget window as follows:
Measurements: Count
Group By: Device Type
18. Change the Display Type to ‘Pie’
19. Click Save to add the Widget

8. Another useful piece of information we would like to know - the page load time for each URL on our
website.
Add the next Widget to find out!
20. Add another Widget by clicking on the ‘+’ sign
21. Edit the Edit Widget window as follows:
Measurements: Page Load Time
Group By: URL
22. Switch to the Display tab, change the fields as follows:
Display Type: Bar
Limit Results: 20
23. Click Save
● Which page takes the longest time to load?
24. Slice and dice the report by the slowest loading URL
● What is the most common action taken for the URL you selected?
Report Filters
We can filter the report data by different dimensions.
Let's filter the report data for a specific region – Hong Kong:
25. Clear any existing filtering
26. Click on the Report Filters icon
9. 27. Select the Expressions tab
28. In the Filter By field, select Country
29. In the Value field, select Hong Kong
30. Click Add
31. Click Apply
You can see the Filter applied on top of the report
32. If you would like to zoom-in to sessions from Hong Kong –Click on the Play session icon
Don't forget to save your report by clicking Save on the top right when you are done!
